The only ting i see is like apple saying “look at us…we have found a way to hide our big black pill in the screen”…rather then making a small pinhole for the camera and making fingerprin reader under the screen like all the other mobile manufactures…
apple was once an innovative company and esthetic company…..now it’s just old wine in old bottles…boring an predictable

Disagree with this one I'm afraid. Face ID is superior to fingerprint readers in many ways hence why Apple have stuck with it. Yes this requires a larger screen cut out for the sensors but it provides a seamless experience when unlocking your phone, notifications expand with detail when you glance at the screen etc. With fingerprint readers you have to actively unlock your phone every time you use it.

Glad my iPad Pro 11 3rd gen has face id. Don’t have to remember to use the home button since my iPhone hasn’t had one since I got my XR in 2018.

Odd, all the reviews I’ve read or watched don’t care about the DI after a day. Just another gimmick like the touchbar and will be an asterisk in the history books.
The fact that they don't care about it after a day is a good indication that it's actually a good idea. It's not distracting. It just disappears and becomes a seamless and fluid extension of the way the device operates.

It's a really clever idea, and I do appreciate that it's a very Apple-like blurring of the lines between the hardware and the software.

I also love that Android developers have already started copying it.

I would be extremely unhappy if Apple did what other mobile manufacturers do. I love Face ID. If Apple ever takes it away, I will be buying the last iPhone with Face ID, and keep that for as long as it lasts.

I 100% agree. I just hope it’s a total success for Apple and DOES NOT end up like Touch-Bar. 🙏
The Touch Bar was an interesting concept, but ultimately, I think it failed because Apple did not test it with actual users in real-world use cases. I am a touch-typist. I hardly ever look at my keyboard. And with physical F-keys, I can hit certain functions I need without even looking.

(The [esc] key is an excellent example of this, and Apple realized their oversight with this crucial hardware key and added it back.)

The Dynamic Island is in a different place, performs a different function, and has a whole other set of UI paradigms that seem more natural for a handheld device, rather than a dynamic strip of a display perched above the keyboard.

I would not be surprised to see the camera array from the iPhone 14 make its way into the next revision of the MacBook Pro, and to see Dynamic Island also make an appearance on the desktop OS.

Totally meh. It hides an inconvenient truth by taking over larger areas of your screen. Typical Apple.

I much prefer the pin hole approach on many androids and a proper notification static bar across the top to the DI or the notch.

It’s a polarising UI change. I skipped the 14 series. Nothing of interest.

It’s so lame and gimmicky to constantly tout this. They make this sound like it’s a must have groundbreaking feature. I showed a couple people on my 14 Pro Max and they said that’s it? Chuckled and rolled their eyes.
I'm afraid it is the only change worth talking about, so they milk it. The 14 Pro isn't really better than the 13 Pro in any place where I will notice, except for DI. The 48 MP camera has advantages for some use cases, but also disadvantages for other use cases. So, we're left with DI as the main feature :).

Our goal was to make them forget that there is static physical hardware and make them think that the whole thing is fluid-like dynamic software.”

Mission accomplished. Using my 14PM along with my 13PM, the 14 feels full screen, and the DI seems entirely software designed. The effect is subtle, but remarkable. I didn’t mind the notch, but the DI makes the phone so much more refined.

The DI might seem static at times, but developers will find more and more ways to utilize it. You could also make a shortcut to trigger an app and automatically close it so it appears in the DI right away.

I never had any od those issues as my phones have always been unlocked.

I mean, it’s useful. It does bring some cool features to apps, but let’s be honest, it’s there to cover up the notch.

My assessment after a few weeks use: I prefer the notch. Whatever though, I'm 47 with pesky kids and all the life stresses that go with that. I'll have a weird expanding pill at the top of my phone for the next few years. Whatever.

More like a desert island than fantasy island

All the money , all the know how that Apple have can’t engineer a zero notch , I just don’t believe this at all
How exactly do you engineer a "zero notch" and still have all of the capabilities of a front-facing camera, Face ID, and whatever other sensors are in that area, while keeping the bezels as small as they currently are?

It’s way too over-hyped. Not at all that useful especially since it’s way up on the top of the screen. I do like seeing the waveform of music I’m playing though.
I dislike it personally. I prefer listening to classic music while reading books but this animation is distracting and annoying. It distracts me from reading. Does anybody know how to turn it off?

It makes me think of some kind of dynamic wallpaper that would make the DI glow slightly and randomly a bit like an amp tube. This would work best with a black background, and it would have to adjust size along with the DI.

Easy answer: It can't be done, yet. If it could be done, they would've already done it.

Odd, most of the reviews I’ve read feel like the DI is a significant change in how users interact With their phones and as long as Apple continues to develop it and as third-party apps make use of it, it should continue to expand and be a useful feature in years to come.
