Wonder why the MBA took so long to get the M4?
I think that this is the cadence now.

With Apple silicon, most general purpose computing needs can be met with the MBA. Keeping them a generation apart during the Q4 buying season may spur those looking to buy the 'latest generation' to get a MBP instead of an MBA. When holiday shopping last year your choice was an M3 MBA, or for "just a few more bucks" you could get the more powerful M4 in a base MBP chassis.

Basically they keep the more expensive MBP's ahead for a few months. Then launch the Air's a bit later, but not long before the next gen arrives. Clever marketing.

his reputation is not improved with rumors that often are modified each day until he is right, or false all together.
Exactly, but here you contradict yourself. You seem to know what rumor is, but you don't accept that it's not always true, or that it's changed if new information is given, or that some of it simply turn out to be false. This is the nature of rumors. You're on the macRUMORS website after all, you should know this 😂. As for his reputation, he's still one of the best when it comes to rumors which is why he's quoted so often.

Look at this graphic. There are 5 arrows (for lack of a better term) running through the word Air. Today, Apple announced 2 new iPads and 1 new keyboard. I think this was a hidden sign and we can expect 2 more products this week — MacBook Air and Mac Studio.

In what universe? Online and official retail prices are identical.

In the real universe. When i order online and get it shipped to my address I pay 6% state tax. If i drive 20-30 min across the border to a NH Apple store and physically pick up the stuff I pay no state tax. For an iPad air and a MBA this is about 150 dollar difference given that I go to NH on a regular basis anyway.
Welcome to the universe of tax reality 😁🤬.

(I haven't figured out yet if i can get a custom order shipped to a NH apple store and still avoid state tax. I guess not as the credit card purchase happens locally in my state but not sure.)

How about being future proof? Apple Intelligence uses lots of RAM. And while it’s useless today, I don’t want to have to buy a new computer in a year or two from now because 16GB is insufficient to use it in the future.
Ah, yes agree to that. I was planning to get a 24GB version if available for that same reason. Got just confused by the "regular use" wording.

Why wouldn't 16GB not be enough for regular use? I can imagine if you run virtual machines but regular users watch youtube and surf the web and do email. iMovie is probably the most challenging we ever do.
right now Safari alone is using 10gb of ram. Open up Utilities/Perf monitor and sort by ram usage. with a couple other apps like weather, text edit, spreadsheet etc which would be considered "regular" use I'm into 2gb of VRAM right now. While the SSD is fast, its also unneeded wear as well. 16gb is barely enough to boot the OS and run a web browser with only a few tabs open. If you have 30-40 tabs going... :(

Running Resolve means basically I have to quit pretty much everything else. While not my daily driver for edit work, I still do rough cuts and simple stuff and its a tight squeeze. Same for other video apps - quit everything else you can.

even 32gb would be tight, but it would keep me out of VM most of the time. thats not even counting loading up a AI model or two.

I think a blue color is more possible than a space black option tbh.
Absolutely.
The Midnight is beautiful on my M3 - sometimes it looks black, but mostly a variations of blue's.

Not that I've had a SpaceBlack, but isn't that only for the higher ends MBP's?
So no, I don't think we'll see a Black MBA.

My wishlist:

- MacBook Air+ (higher priced) model with...
- miniLED
- FaceID
- Even longer battery life
- Even better sounding speakers
- Space Black option
- USB-C/TB ports on both sides

Not everyone needs the Pros' size, thickness and power, but would like everything else and would pay a bit more for it.

Changes that I am actually expecting:

- M4 chip
- FaceTime camera tweaks

That would be nice. I hope they become available at the same time so I could buy a MBA and a iPad air in the apple store at the same time. That helps a lot as buying them online is quite a bit more expensive.
What? How is it quite a bit more expensive? Where are you finding these massive discounts on new Apple products in the Apple Store (or markups online)? Online you should be paying the same price, with free shipping, and you normally pay tax based on where you live anyway.

“However, unlike the new MacBook Air, he said the new iPad models "probably won't come in the next few days."

So, the timeframe for the new iPads is not narrowed down yet, but it seems like the devices will not be unveiled at the same time as the MacBook Air with the M4 chip.”

Maybe Apple is sending up different info to different folks to sniff out who is leaking info. Tim Cook must have watched "The Departed" recently.

I think Gurman is on the official leaker list, sanctioned by Cook and the like. He is the only leaker that still gets invites to all of Apple's events, while every other one gets blacklisted for life. They feed him info, some good, some not, but it's all sanctioned.

Please quote where I said I dont accept that rumors are not ALWAYS true. I'll wait. Oh that was hyperbole not to taken any more serious than Gurman's rumors?

Maybe you come here for random comments that are fluff in the guise of rumors, because if you aren't going to take into account someone's reliability on deciding if they are talking crap or not, then we aren't ever going to agree. I am fully aware about the nature of rumors, and how information can be updated, but I stand by my comment that Gurman just isn't that reliable these days. Maybe he was at some point, but these days when I see his name attached to a rumor I know not to take it seriously. And that's my point. Reporting on his rumors often takes the tone that it's fact. And people then express disappointment when rumor doesn't become reality. That's not on me, that's on people that keep making excuses for sensationalism and those that traffic in it. cough. Gurman. cough.
