Lazy people don’t want to do an event… Did they made an event with iPad mini A17, Mac mini, iMac and MacBook Pro? No…

Since they didn’t make any video today then it’s time saved for them lol.
It probably more about not over dramatizing refresh of products that can be handled a lot more cheaply by doing press releases.

Should be a very minor update like the one for iPad Air. Expecting nothing more than M4 chip now. Should be having the same price too.

They haven’t got much to show to be honest. They could have make an event updating all their computers at once and next to it the whole iPad lineup. Something serious hardware companies do once a year or when new chips/tech comes available.
Except nothing released so far is new tech. We have seen rebinned cpus, existing cpus and even the M4 will be something we have seen in the Mac mini or iPad Pro.

I would prefer if they went back to updating all their Macs at one event in January every year and all the iPads at one event in March. That would make it easier to choose which model to buy.
They purposely stagger the releases in order to increase ARPU. Many consumers will opt for a higher-priced product (ex: MBP) rather than wait for a lower-priced one (ex:MBA).

Shape of that slice through the AIR looks like a wedge of sorts….

Surely they could update both models at the same time and sufficiently differentiate them by the specs and prices.

The MBA will come out soon, possibly this week. Some people will hate it, some will love it. Some will buy it, some will not. There will be plenty of complaining online about many things. Life will go on. Apple usually has good reasons for what they do, and full-on presentations take time to prepare for and that means time not working on other things. They have been highly successful for a long time and that's just boring for a lot of people. Life will go on. I'm waiting to see if this model has one or two slightly different features. Either way, my current machines are just fine and I'm doing my work. My main reason for upgrading on any given cycle is to do better with resale value of my older machines. Anyway, enjoy the show.

An M4 MBA when the M5 is likely to release within the next 3 months... all so Apple can have a reason to upsell the MacBook Pro. Very, very lame, but I understand it.

What? How is it quite a bit more expensive? Where are you finding these massive discounts on new Apple products in the Apple Store (or markups online)? Online you should be paying the same price, with free shipping, and you normally pay tax based on where you live anyway.
When i order online and get it shipped to my address I pay 6% state tax. If i drive 20-30 min across the border to a NH Apple store and physically pick up the stuff I pay no state tax. For an iPad air and a MBA this is about 150 dollar difference given that I go to NH on a regular basis anyway.
Welcome to the universe of tax reality 😁🤬.

(I haven't figured out yet if i can get a custom order shipped to a NH apple store and still avoid state tax. I guess not as the credit card purchase happens locally in my state but not sure.)

Apple CEO Tim Cook yesterday teased that there was "something in the air" this week, and it turns out that could be "things" plural. Following today's announcement of a new iPad Air with an M3 chip, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman now says that Apple plans to announce the long-rumored MacBook Air with the M4 chip tomorrow.

"Expect the M4 MacBook Air tomorrow as part of the new product wave," he said, in a post on X.

Gurman initially said the new MacBook Air would be announced "earlier" than the iPhone 16e and new iPad Air, but that information was evidently wrong.

As was the case with the new iPad Air, and the iPhone 16e last month, the new MacBook Air should be announced in a press release on the Apple Newsroom website.

Beyond the M4 chip, the new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models are expected to have Thunderbolt 4 ports, a Center Stage camera, longer battery life, and a few other minor upgrades. No design changes are expected.

Personally, I prefer the sound of peak MacBook Air M3 (it's a keeper)
