Does a thinner display mean thinner phone? Or does it mean more room for a larger battery?

We reached the breaking point (literally) of phone thinness.

We reached that with the iPhone 6 in 2014 at 6.9/7.1mm thinness. Since then they’ve only gotten thicker (and with the 11 Pro tremendous battery life as well).

my opinion, but I’d hope if the display can be thinner that they let the device get a bit thinner while maintaining the existing battery life.

I don't know if I'm more excited for the iPhone 12 Pro Max or iOS 14 supposed redesign. If the former is considerable I'd be tempted to upgrade.

Oh well that 6.7 inch will be too tempting for me to not upgrade. I had the note 10+ for a week and I could definitely notice the difference coming from the 6.5 inch Xs max to the 6.8 inch note 10 +, even though it was only 0.3 inches. Loved the bog size of the note but I can’t seem to function outside the Apple ecosystem lol

I was a fan of the iPhone 4’s flat sidedness. I like how I could stand it up on its side without it falling over.
The 4 has been my favourite iPhone design so far.

Virtually no one outside of Apple wants thinner phone. BATTERY LIFE is our main concern.

Exactly. I even got the Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 11 Pro Max (which is actually pretty thin versus what I was expecting). One of the best purchases I ever made.

2020 iPhones will be the best selling iPhones since iPhone 6.

The iPhone 6 was so successful because of pent up demand for a larger screen.
The iPhone 12 will be successful because of pent up demand for a notch less screen (or at least a much smaller one).

5.4” is too small. 6.7” is too big. 6.1” will have compromises. Where do I go?!
As much as I love my Pro Max, it’s starting to hurt my thigh as the phone keeps bumping into it. I love the additional screen size when compared to the 11. I agree that the 5.8” Pro is too small, and the supposed 5.4” is even worse.

Perhaps Apple can make a phone that is 6.3”, not too small as the 11 but not chunky as the Pro Max.

I want an iPhone Shuffle as an alternative to the Apple Watch. You pin it to your shirt and you tap it to make phone calls, text, make appointments, and other Siri stuff. It will have a chirp sound and you can also play Apple Music if you want or use your Airpods. They can make it shaped like an Apple and you would use it like Star Trek the Next Generation comm badge.

There haven't been any bending issues since the iPhone 6 lineup, which, at 6.9mm / 7.1mm, are the thinnest phones they have produced. They've been going in the opposite direction every year since.

Not sure why people bring this up anymore other than for dramatization.

We all know this just means a thinner phone and no chance of using that extra space for more battery.
this, after two years in a row when iPhone actually got thicker, is a non sense...
