I don't think they need to shake up the iPad lineup too much, but they should discontinue the iPad 9th generation and lower the price of the 10th generation one
Well remaining 10th Gens will discounted when the 11th is released. But it would be nice if the 11th dropped in price to fill the void left by the discontinued 9th, whenever that happens.

I’m now sure Apple will resist further distinguishing the Air and Pro by shifting the Air to 1 generation behind the Pro, unless somehow the Pro series chips can run fanless and there are no fanless pro chips yet.
Apple probably won't put an M3 Pro in the iPad. The distinguishing factor between the Air & Pro will be the better (OLED display) with Promotion and better speaker system vs. the iPad Air which won't be as well endowed.

Even if they're not in poverty, doesn't mean they all can afford iPads. And I'm just talking about the entry-level iPad.
A basic $199 ipad would bring so many people into the apple ecosystem. App sales, subscriptions. It’s almost as if apples doesn’t want to print money.
A $200 iPad would open up the education sector again. Apples has all but lost the education sector.

The mini won’t get the M1. It’s either the A16 bionic or if they want mini owners to get in on the console gaming action, the A17 Pro.
I’ve seen the resident evil village port running on iPhone 14 and 14 Pro max with less than 5% performance loss.
An iPad mini with an a16 would be more than enough.

Maybe a plastic iPad would make that possible. However, I don’t think Tim is interested in a race to the bottom and/or cheapening Apple’s image.

Expecting to see a new Pencil along with the new iPad Pro. Good that OLED display is not limited to 13"

I will buy an m3 iPad. but I will be he last iPad I buy. barely goes dead and your left with junk.

I use I for music art. drawing only. he OS sucks for everything else. make I more like macOS.

Maybe ability to run some Mac apps on iPad Pro finally?
Only if they're completely rewritten for touch. Apple will never allow a solely mouse-based program on an iPad. This is why it took them an eternity to release Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPad.

Because people still expect the ipad pros to be updated yearly, despite that Apple hasn’t done that for nearly a decade.
The base iPad has been updated annually for quite a long time with that trend breaking this year. The iPad Air and iPad Pros tend to be updated every 18 months while the mini is updated whenever Apple gets around to it.

I think the base iPad trend and the iPad Air trend was broken this year because Apple wants to completely revamp the entire line, similar to what they did with the iPhone last year and the Mac laptops this year. They will try to solve the problems of the mini seeming to have no fit in the lineup and the Air being too close to the Pros. Expect the Pros to be significantly upgraded while the Air will have a minor upgrade in order to separate the two.

It's possible the Airs could take the slot of the Pros and the Pros might be updated to Ultras. What supports that guess is the rumors of two iPad Air sizes along with OLED upgrades to the Pros. One possible reason why the M3 Pro has more efficiency cores and fewer performance cores is that the M3 Pro may be destined for those iPad Ultras, which need very high power savings along with heat dissipation since iPads have smaller batteries and very thin bodies for keeping out heat. Meanwhile the iPad Air will get the ordinary M3.

This doesn't count as a new iPad?

Apple today announced an updated version of the cellular 10th-generation iPad with eSIM support in mainland China. Apple says the device will be available to pre-order in mainland China starting October 19 and released on October 25.
Only if you want it to.

They day when folks stop buying iPad Pros and require them to have macOS compatibility to run the macOS apps they don’t have. :)
Almost all of them who want macOS already stopped buying iPads, and it didn't dent sales at all. You're talking about a very, very, very niche group of people. Most people want their iPads to be touch devices.

Or they don't trust iCloud after all the leaks.
iCloud has never been hacked. The leaks were due to people with stupid passwords that were easily guessed like "password123" or "12345678". Now that two factor authentication is required, rather than optional, iCloud is as secure as consumer cloud services get.
