So ~1.33 million a month to 6 million a month. Apple really thinks that many people are holding off their iPad purchases because it doesn't have a Facetime camera? It's pretty optimistic.
I was ready to camp out in front of the store until they announced the iPad had no webcam. That killed a huge portion of why I wanted one.
Of course I didn't have a Touch or iPhone, so I really didn't know how great the whole experience is, now I have an iPhone 4 and know FOR SURE I wouldn't get an iPad without a camera.
So if it goes camera, improved screen, lighter, I will be one of the first 6 million.
my guess is a combo of specs bump with perhaps a small drop in price and new markets. But geographic and if the rumors are true, more cell tech (ie CDMA).
If they got the price down enough I could see them dropping the wifi only option. Maybe keeping the 16 Wifi for schools and the kiddies (like how they have the 3gs in 8GB still) but then a 32, 64 and 128 in the full wifi+3g. I think folks would go for it if they dropped the price down $50-60 from the current (especially if the prices started at the current 16GB prices). Especially if there were other bumps like more RAM, faster processor and/or at least a front facing camera for facetime etc.
As for the whole 6 million units a month, there is a logical reason for such a number. They ran out a couple of times during round one. THey do NOT want to do that again if they can avoid it. So they set the marker way high. THey might only expect to actually need half that number but they want to know that if this thing blows up on them they will be able to handle the demand. Because the factory is expecting the possibility and because they spent a month or two really stock piling units before launch day. That way they don't pull an HP and have folks waiting 6-8 weeks extra
They really need to improve the pdf handling capacities in order to appeal to students and the like.. at the moment, they don't even support the obligatory table of content...... it's all about pdf
just have to say, even speculation that Apple could/would raise the price, is laughbly ridiculous. i dont care if has a lightsaber blade that shoots out of the headphone jack...they will never, ever raise the price of this product.
Gotta agree here. The only way prices would raise in relation to iPad would be carrier prices for data contracts. Besides Apple already makes a killing on iPad Profit. At least $250> for the lowest configured iPad. I'm hoping though that apple isn't a cheapass and they finally add a 32,64,128gb configuration for the new iPad and eventually the new iPhone. Storage seems to run out fast for me even on a 16gb i4.
Anybody got any suggestions for anything like Mobile Hotspot devices and such? Don't wanna use my phone.
