Gaming is by far one of the few areas that has been pushing M1 to its limits, both in terms of the thermal constraints and performance. You would be surprised if I say M1 on iPad Pro cannot sustain peak performance for very long before being forced to downclock to keep thermal under control.

Unless M3 makes massive improvements, I don’t find it attractive to upgrade.

Honestly haven’t found a game / App that isn’t also supported on my iPad Air 4

They keep making the iPads faster, but with the limitation of iPadOS, I just don't see the appeal. The M1 is more than enough speed for what they do. You're better off just getting a MBA at the price points these iPads are gonna sell.
At least iPad has more games than macOS has.

Well, I can’t update my M1 12.9 inch iPad after buying Vision Pro. No new iphones this year either.

Until iPadOS receives a significant overhaul in functionality and capability, I can’t justify these prices - as they are now, let alone the speculated increases.

The hardware is worth it, for sure, but for my uses it’s like having a beautiful painting with the hook on the wrong side. Until they move the hook to the other side, all that beauty is wasted against the wall where it can’t be seen.

[I know there are many apps which do use the power - I’m speaking for myself personally, not across the board]
I would suspect iPad OS will see a pretty substantial overhaul - there was almost too much backlash this last time... We might actually see a more "MacOS" type interface... Apple can do it right.

There will be no new iPadOS before September, and I wouldn’t expect major changes even then. Apple is selling more than twice as many iPads than Macs. Most users aren’t asking for a different interface.

It takes them a full year to adapt features previously released on iOS (such as App Library or the new Wallpaper menu)

I DOUBT IT

Samsung’s tablet has OLED and only $800. Sure, iPad has superior OS (essentially by default) and better design, but it is NOT $700 better.

Tim Cook has exploited Apple fandom and loyalty for 10+ years, but it is waning at last and Microsoft, under Nadella, is far more innovative.

Watch they will surprise us by putting some kind of version of macOS on it…🤭

I have a Galaxy Tab S9 and for tablets OLED seems the way to go as the viewing angle is ideal. Regular LED displays (mini and probably micro) have a very slight shift at large angles. It's slight but it's there. Things have come a long way though.

There may be downsides. Of course I'm no expert so, and people may disagree. I'm happy with it.

Come at me but even M1 is still overkill and not taken advantage simply due to restrictions by iPadOS. You can even argue how "sustainable" Apple actually is, releasing a new tablet "just because".

It's not even meant in a bad way, I guess I am just saying an iPad from 3 (?) years ago is still running perfectly, which is actually great!
Completely agree. We've hit the point in computing technology where the average user (that would include me) isn't really coming close to pushing their machines to their limits. I'm running a 2021 M1 MacBook Pro and there is 0 reason at this point that I need to upgrade. It runs flawlessly. Same thing with my 12.9" M1 iPad. There's nothing I need it to do that it can't. Yep.....I'm just an average guy. But so are most people.

But but but they're using a new super duper OLED that makes it even BRIGHTER!!!omfg wow

Now give us $1500!!! for the same basic experience on iPadOS but for the price of a MacBook Pro.

Sorry but I think Apple leaked those increases and now weeks later after the outrage and mocking, they're going to lower orders instead of price. 😆

Every week Apple become more and more out of touch with their actual customers as they court china, Russia and trust fund kids from Connecticut.

Ipads are dead to me personally, I don't use mine anymore. Im more likely to get a Vision thing, if they come down in price over time. Our only use case, is the cheapest ones for our kids.
I buy them used. I haven't looked in a bit, but buying Apple watch and iPads halfway through a generation can sometimes find 40-50% savings. My 4th Gen 12.9 iPad Pro is still fine, although the 2nd gen one we got for $350 4 or so years back is pretty slow.

I know people will love it, but I'm not sure iPadOS has enough going for it, but maybe they're gonna just turn them into Surface Pros and run MacOS on them to justify the price.

Apple has reportedly cut components orders for its upcoming OLED iPad Pro models, suggesting that the company is now anticipating lower demand than previously expected.
Does Apple ever do the opposite? This is a pure marketing ploy. Every product they release these days, they lower the expectation for the markets. Do any market analysis actually fall for this re-release slight of hand?? Looking at the share price, they all do.

I’m a BIG Apple supporter, but people should stop buying their products. The price point now is just an insult. I’ve owned several iPad Pro in the years, since the second gen 10.7” back in 2017, and I’m writing from a 12.9” M1. The initial $799 price was already quite high, but now it’s getting ridiculous. Apple needs to get real.
