This depends on whether customers continue to buy Apple devices in droves. If they do, that essentially gives Apple the green light to keep these elevated prices long after the AI hysteria dies down.

On the other hand, if customers close their wallets, and Apple's sales slump, they'll be desperate to lower the prices as soon as they can (though probably still not to where they were pre-component crisis).
Agreed

If you haven't gotten any pay increases from your work in the last few years then you really need to find a new job.
Easier said than done. Got laid off just over 2 years ago from being in IT since '98. Can't get an interview and the best I got was something outside of the industry I've been in making less than 50% of what I was last making. Nobody wants to hire someone late in their years even with massive experience. So to just say find a new job its hard enough keeping the one you already have.

Exactly no one is gonna be buying new phones if they keep raising prices. They will lose so many customers. Ive been saying for 3 yrs they will be outta business by 2032. Looks like I may be right if they keep this behavior up. Even foldable phones are scheduled to be $2,000 yea no thanks im good. This is why they chose to give the latest ios 27 to phones older than 5 or 6 yrs. Cuz they know people arent buying new phones anymore because they cost too much
Most companies are raising prices. This is not exclusive to Apple. Blame AI companies, memory manufacturers and people hyping up AI.

Apple said :
The consumer electronics industry is facing an unprecedented challenge. The rapid expansion of AI data centers has created an extraordinary surge in demand for memory and storage. We have never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly. We have shielded our customers from these increases so far, but we have now reached a point where we need to begin raising prices on a number of products, including today's increases for iPad and Mac. We know this is not welcome news, and we are working tirelessly to find solutions.

The thing that jump out to me was 'need to begin raising prices', more price rises have not been ruled out! Or most probably they are just setting the groundwork for iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPod increases in September.
No one is gonna buy a phone or foldable phone thats $2,000. No thanks Im good

WHO CARES. WE DONT CARE. WE AREN NOT GOING TO BUY A PHONE THATS $2,000 watch how many customers leave apple if they keep up this disgusting behavior of raising prices

Multi-trillion dollar company crying about an increase in component costs whilst expecting the average consumer to accept hundred of dollars in price rises.

Woeful. Despicable from Apple. They have plenty of cash reserves to weather the storm. They won't get another penny from me until pricing falls again.

Iphones are probably next, before the next round of Mac/ipad increases. Today was just the beginning, I bet a year from now people will be wishing for the Mac prices we have today.
NO ONE IS GONNA BUY A NEW PHONE THATS $2,000 so many customers will leave apple

Due to price increases users are forced to no longer upgrade existing devices. 🤣 Devices will stay in service longer and working devices are to take up the slack when devices go out of service.

Strangely, this almost never happens. Prices rise, people complain, people get bored of complaining, people go back to buying.

It's not good, but it's how people are.

Watch this site in two weeks, once the price hikes are passed their news cycle, and it'll be back to people obsessing about which colours of Pro Max they're trying to choose between, or how they absolutely can't survive on less than 64 gigs of memory.

Tech is relatively cheap, compared to things like homes and new cars. If people can't afford their own home or a new car, they'll make themselves feel better and buy tech instead, so they can feel like they're not financially drowning because they have a premium item.

Of course people will keep buying, because, more and more often, tech, and Apple tech, is one of the only aspirational products people can afford.

Microsoft just raised its prices on the xbox for a second time this year

Microsoft has announced significant price rises for Xbox consoles, blaming the ongoing “components crisis.”

In a blog post, Microsoft said that from August 1, the price of Xbox consoles will increase by $100 for 512GB models, and $150 for 1TB models. The 2TB model will be discontinued.

Xbox console price rises June 2026:
Xbox Series S 512GB: $399.99 ---> $499.99
Xbox Series S 1TB: $449.99 ---> $599.99
Xbox Series X 1TB Digital: $599.99 ---> $749.99
Xbox Series X 1TB: $649.99 ---> $799.99

People who claim this is just Apple being greedy are completely unaware of just how much this cockamamie ai craze is having on the cost of goods in every industry

If have no problem raising for old products in refurbished store the raise trade ins significantly too.

Greedflation.

How do we know it’s not about greedflation with Apple?

Greedflation is the idea that some companies increase prices beyond what rising costs would justify, using a period of inflation as an opportunity to boost their profit margins because consumers expect prices to rise anyway.

The strongest evidence is usually when profit margins expand substantially while the company attributes price increases mainly to inflation or rising costs. If costs were the sole reason, margins would tend to stay roughly the same rather than grow.

iPhone prices didn't go up. I wonder if this means that the iPhone 18 prices will still be in line with current prices or go up. I was holding onto my iphone 13 pro until this year, but it might not happen if it jumps $300...

Also, I think them raising prices on refurb Macs is stupid. That's just greedy.

Agreed. I was planning to change my Iphone 17PM for 18PM as I usually do each year, but likely will not do it this time. Changes are not sinifican't but price will likely be even more in Sept.

Apple you have a lot money why so hard make your own hardware for your product global supply have limited
Fabs are multibillion dollar investments and to stay to top of technology you must always be building the next generation. Fabs also require extensive ramp-up in manufacturing knowledge. Pretty much all dedicated fabs like Intel and IBM are now soliciting external customers or are getting out of the business.
