Epic already violated the terms of their agreement with Apple. Why should they trust that Epic won't try to bypass any future agreement? I think they have every right to not want to deal with them.

To paraphrase a saying: Break the contract once, shame on you. Break it again, shame on me.

It's sad to see so many people supporting the Goliath

I'm not sure if many folks realize that it ultimately comes around to "get you too" when we have the entrenched power "winning".

Root for the smaller guys -- the underdogs -- the upstarts

(relatively speaking in this case - relative power matters a lot here)

That USED TO BE APPLE!
That is what created the company we loved
Call me crazy, but when the “little guy” here is Epic and they’ve been nothing but antagonistic and acting like total jerks…yeah, I’m rooting for Goliath on this one.

I guess they’ll just have to console themselves by crying into all that Fortnite money at night.

Why does everyone hate Epic so much? Does Tim Sweeney have an annoying voice or something? For the life of me I can't fathom why so many people celebrate when one company can stomp out another's ability to distribute apps on a major platform.
Some people side with Apple because they agree with Apple's principles and reasons. Some people side with Apple because they will side with Apple no matter what.

But yes, Tim Sweeney is so super mega annoying -- his look, his voice, his words, his decisions, his behavior -- that some people will even bend their own principles and turn against their own interests to side against Epic.

Is size the only acceptable criteria for choosing who to support?

is apple in this case just saying up front you are banned vs having an fight over part of the new EU rules that they think that epic is trying to get around?

Really? Epic market cap is around $32B, they are a Goliath in gaming.
They broke the rules knowingly, dragged thru the courts and appeals for several years (incl appeal to SCOTUS) and lost.

You do realize Epic is a multi-billion dollar company that requires people selling game add ons do so in their store and using their payment system where Epic gets a huge cut? Just checking.

Great to read. Epic if given the chance, would be the same things they accuse Apple of being. If it was a small company? I’d probably be more on their side but it’s not. It’s a greedy company that made Fortnite and thinks it’s now king of the hill.
This company IS a "king of the hill." Epic Games owns unreal engine, the very thing transforming how films and games are made.

Could say the same thing about so many people supporting the EU's actions, no matter how egregious. Talk about supporting Goliath! I'm sure that will neeeeeever (/s) come back to bite you.

Plus, as has been pointed out multiple times here already...Epic could be considered a "Goliath".

It's not so much rooting for Goliath But rather Epic Games put themselves in this position. Epic brought this on themselves. They decided to knowingly break the rules, and are now suddenly surprised when someone calls them untrustworthy.

This is like a bank robber complaining about a bank not hiring him to be a security guard after he robbed them.

the fact people applaud apple for just flexing their obscene control over the market is rather absurd; this is NOT in YOUR best interest _at all_ and just because you dislike [insert company being dicked over] doesn't mean you'll be pleased with [whom in power] does it to [yet another company] especially once it's one _you_ care about.

Which, FYI, is all of them, because without competition YOUR prices go up.

Stop cheering for TRILLION dollar companies.
It’s because this is child’s play. Pure and simple.

A very large number of people here don’t understand that there can be a difference between normal everyday contracts and a monopoly sized business forcing terms on another business.

Anyway, I’m not sure exactly where Apple is heading with this because the EU has already judged Apple’s terms to be illegal at this point, so they’re angling for a big fine unless this gets resolved quickly.
