It's sad to see so many people supporting the Goliath

I'm not sure if many folks realize that it ultimately comes around to "get you too" when we have the entrenched power "winning".

Root for the smaller guys -- the underdogs -- the upstarts

(relatively speaking in this case - relative power matters a lot here)

That USED TO BE APPLE!
That is what created the company we loved
Epic is not the “little guy” or “underdog” here. They make one of the most popular game engines (Unreal Engine) and one of the most popular battle royales out there (Fortnite).

I still want someone to explain one thing to me..

How can anyone tell a company what and how to operate? Why does the government need to get involved every single time Apple does something?
Regulation has been a good thing in the past. We regulate the airline industry so that people don't die, and that worked. But knowing when and how to apply regulation is why you need intelligent leaders. The E.U. has almost none.

The EU is mad that their EU tech companies cannot compete against US companies, that is all.

The EU is even going crazy about Microsoft buying some shares in a French AI company. If Microsoft was an EU company, you know the EU would have no problem with Microsoft buying some shares.

The EU DMA has no authority to force a business entity to continue business relations with third parties it has deemed detrimental to the well being of its ongoing existence; has been proven through the courts several times violating contract laws it willingly signed on.

No Developer license no legal right to sell your software on our platform, period.

Please read the article. Court decided that Apple can rightfully terminate Epic’s developer account because they violated the contract.
Why is it so difficult to see that Epic is the offending party here?

Apple is quoting a ruling from 2021, which was about a completely different thing and not even by the EU.

In the ruling, Judge Rogers says that Apple was lawful in its decision to terminate Epic’s developer account last year when it added the Fortnite direct payment option.

If I understood the article correctly, Apple revoked access to a developer account on EU soil (Sweden)

the fact people applaud apple for just flexing their obscene control over the market is rather absurd; this is NOT in YOUR best interest _at all_ and just because you dislike [insert company being dicked over] doesn't mean you'll be pleased with [whom in power] does it to [yet another company] especially once it's one _you_ care about.

Which, FYI, is all of them, because without competition YOUR prices go up.

Stop cheering for TRILLION dollar companies.
You're spitting facts, but a lot of people need to let go of their devotion to a BRAND. Not a country, family, ethnicity or anything like that..... but a BRAND. LMAO!!!!!!

Why does everyone hate Epic so much? Does Tim Sweeney have an annoying voice or something? For the life of me I can't fathom why so many people celebrate when one company can stomp out another's ability to distribute apps on a major platform.
They have been constantly breaching agreements and name calling. If you haven't already, read the linked article in the story.

Excerpt from Phil Schiller to Epic:
In the past, Epic has entered into agreements with Apple and then broken them. For example, you testified that Epic Games, Inc. entered into the Developer Program with full understanding of its terms, and then chose to intentionally breach the agreement with Apple. You also testified that Epic deliberately violated Apple's rules, to make a point and for financial gain. More recently, you have described our DMA compliance plan as "hot garbage," a "horror show," and a "devious new instance of Malicious Compliance." And you have complained about what you called "Junk Fees" and "Apple taxes."

Your colorful criticism of our DMA compliance plan, coupled with Epic's past practice of intentionally violating contractual provisions with which it disagrees, strongly suggest that Epic Sweden does not intend to follow the rules. Another intentional breach could threaten the integrity of the iOS platform, as well as the security and privacy of users.

You have stated that allowing enrollment of Epic Games Sweden in the Developer Program is "a good faith move by Apple." We invite you to provide us with written assurance that you are also acting in good faith, and that Epic Games Sweden will, despite your public actions and rhetoric, honor all of its commitments. In plain, unqualified terms, please tell us why we should trust Epic this time.

It's not so much rooting for Goliath But rather Epic Games put themselves in this position. Epic brought this on themselves. They decided to knowingly break the rules, and are now suddenly surprised when someone calls them untrustworthy.
Apple is untrustworthy as well, regularly makes up rules as they go and enforces those rules selectively. And yet developers keep working with them. Apple also still works with Epic in a number of ways. This is just retaliation for the fact that Epic has been very critical of Apple's DMA 'compliance' plan. Why even give Epic a developer account in the first place, only to cancel it weeks later?

Epic is in the wrong, I don't root for someone just because they're the "underdog". Epic became an incredibly greedy company who wants it all their way.

Epic charges fees, why are they mad at Apple for doing the same?
