Thanks for the picture Chundles. Good find. :)

Are they security guards outside the roped off section though? I had no idea us Mac Heads™ were so dangerous.

MacH4X0r, you need 30 posts in total to get out of your newbie phase from memory.
Good find too

I'm 16 years old, I've never owned an apple product, I've been lurking around for a month or so, because I want an iPod. I don't know a lot about mac computers other than they're nice to use and to look at but can't play many computer games.

Please bow down to Shattering Fast, Lord of the Newbs.

Without starting the Mac can / cannot play games discussion....
IMHO (in many humble opinions :D ) there are enough good games for the Mac out there.
But if playing games is your primary computer occupation, then the Mac is not your choice.

not yet..... :D

Prepare for nothingness

Seriously doubt there will be any hardware announcements.

.Mac is all you'll be getting I think. The .mac upgrade added french and german capabilities, which are big markets for apple in europe (relatively). Hence perfect paris exposure.

Unfortunately I agree. :(

Don´t know where I was last night. Thought I had to wait until the evening for the Expo, only to waking up and remember it´s in Paris, not SF.
So only half hour to go

gentlemen, gentlemen.......please let us hope my trusty sawtooth, the reliable wench she is, to be retired by a DUAL CORE PPC

That would be fookin' beautiful.....kinda brings a tear to the eye..... ;)

one of the more important features of .mac, specifically the learning center, isn't even performed in french. i didn't try the german site, but if you watch the french videos, none of them have any french speaking folks.

sorry, but that would be a major letdown for the paris/german audience

Buzz

Also AAPL was pretty bearish on monday on the trading floor. Unusual following bullish run last week and rumoured hardware releases.

I think that was a bit of a market cool-off after the iPod nano release pushed AAPL right up, the market hardly reacts now to Mac speed bumps cause it knows Apple makes its money and mindshare from the iPod.

Regardless it generally bucks the market in prior trading hours.

There has been no watch warnings at work, which is bizarre as well.

Now the .Mac package has been updated on the US Apple Store as well. That's it folks. Seriously. They wouldn't take down the store, update it, take it down again, update it again, etc. No wonder Steve Jobs didn't want to do the keynote. I can't wait until the Q&A session when someone asks why they suck. Too bad recording devices are not allowed.

That is odd, Oh I don't know what's going on. If all that's under those sheets are .Mac boxes I'm gonna scream. The laptops aren't out anywhere in the exhibit, it makes sense that they be under there. I'm not suggesting an iBook update but a PowerBook speed bump wouldn't be totally out of the question.

No Keynote cause there's nothing big to release. Steve did the nano the other week to create good press in the face of the ROKR shemozzle. Imagine the press if all that Apple released that day was the ROKR? It would be terrible, Apple needed to make that event it's own and it did, the ROKR was turned from Moto's big announcement to a small and unusual sideshow event to the main circus.

They're still riding high on that press wave now that the nano is getting into shops all across the world and sales are on the up so not having much to really announce this week isn't going to hurt them too much.

According to Hardmac/MacBidouille the computers are all out in the open now.

MacBidouille: "Steve Jobs après sa conférence de presse a fait un tour rapide de l'Apple Expo."

They also mention that although some computers are out in the open, there are still some black curtains up:

"Et le fameux voile noir, qui cache une banderole et des machines.
En parlant de machines, il y a en exposition des Powerbook, des iMac et des Powermac."

Apple's PR page shows the press release for the "Major Enhancements" to .Mac. Obviously they feel this is big news and warrants the covered banners. That's all we are getting apparently so I'm going back to bed. I shall dream about AAPL stock falling.
