They've got to be kidding us right?
At least tomorrow starts an hour earlier...

It looks more and more like we really have been kidding ourselves....

Got our hopes up again with the Dual Core, and updated PowerBooks, I'm afraid.

We will never learn, and I am happy we never will! I love these kind of days: getting all worked up and hoping together with fellow Mac-nuts. ;)

I like to live on the edge, I bought mine yesterday (15" powerbook) :D

Wait for an update if you want, but you may end up in a an infinite wait loop, while people like me are enjoying our new powerbooks ;)

I'm starting to wish i had done that too... but the longer i wait the closer i get to just getting a thinkpad and ending this forever wait loop.

So do I wait out an update til next week or just but Saturday night before the Ipod promo ends, thus saving myself the $150 bucks on a Ipod I could sell.

I'd be really pissed if come Monday if they update the 12' PB with a 13' wide newer brite screen!!! I'm not too concerned with a little speed or HDD bump, but those new glass like screens are very very professional looking compared to the current 12' PB screens. Wish in 1 hand and piss in the other.....

And even those of us who aren't mac heads just yet... been waiting for a PowerMac to use as an engineering student... Apple's kept me waiting all summer long! In the best way: GYPPED BY APPLE AGAIN GOSHDANGIT (<-- it's funny, laugh). Though, ThinkSecret seems pretty darned sure that these PowerMac updates will happen soon... maybe next Tuesday?

Maybe there are dehydrated PowerMacs under that cloth. Just add RDF, and voila, you have a quad-processor PowerMac. I can dream, right? :D

Or maybe in the spirit of canceling a Stevenote, they've decided to MIX IT UP and release a product on a Wednesday! Gasp. Alright, joke's over, c'mon Apple...

Have a great Tuesday, all. :)

But I haven't heard anything yet about that black curtain - has what's underneath actually been revealed yet, or could they be waiting to reveal something else later in the Expo, or later today?

I am also keen to hear / see what is eventually under / behind the black curtain / cloth.

I am very happy with my PB still...
but I have convinced another friend to switch (up to 8 I think now)... and am very curious!

actually, now that i think about it...steve jobs has now said there will be NO macintels before june 2006. (i also figured this as the earlier report back in june/july said this as well, but for some reason, lots of people kept speculating possible macintels this january which made no sense to me.)

powerbooks are definitely going to be updated before june 2006. i am just going to wait it out to buy my 17". the sooner the better, but i can wait.

Were the iBooks finally displayed? I know that earlier people were saying they weren't, and thus suggesting that _they_ might be under the black curtains. I've been looking at getting a new laptop for a couple of weeks now, and I've been waiting to see what's gonna happen with the PB @ ParisExpo. However, as time passed by I realized i'm leaning more towards an iBook with more memory, a big hdd, which would bring the total costs still lower then what a basic PB is now.

Although I have _serious_ doubts on this, are there any chances of iBooks being upgraded AGAIN?

I would just hate myself ordering one today and tomorrow unveiling a new rev

After ruining my Powerbook a couple of weeks ago by leaving it under an opened skylight window during a thunder storm, I was kinda hoping that there would be some form of update today.

I still have to wait for my insurance company to send out the cheque, which could take a few weeks, so i guess there isn't much of a rush anyway.

I'll have to just stick with my girlfriends dual 867 for now and hope that there will be some form of updates soon.

Idle Uninformed Speculation

What if the recent swirl of rumors, coupled with the fact that 12" and 14" iBooks have just been updated but apparently aren't yet on display in Paris, could be tied together as follows:

1. 12" PB is EOL.
2. New 13.3" widescreen iBook debuts today.
3. 15" and 17" PB get minor speed bumps.

It's still early Tuesday morning in California.

Just a thought . . .

Does anyone know if there are up to date pictures of the expo. It would be nice to see what was behind that sheet.

Probably just dotMac stuff i guess

Weak

Since they made such a big deal over the Nano and Rokr not too long ago, I guess Apple felt they didn't need to release anything new.

If Apple is going to update their products once in a blue moon, for God's sake just release OS X for Intel so we can move on and get decent hardware!! My Powerbook used to be the envy of my co-workers and now they laugh at how heavy it is and how crappy the screen looks while they all sit with shiny new Vaio laptops that, hardware-wise, are vastly superior to my Powerbook.

Just looking at the 12" Powerbook, this is how lame the upgrades have been since I bought my first Powerbook:

1/7/03 - 9/16/03 G4-7455 867MHz
9/16/03 - 4/19/04 G4-7447 1.0GHz
4/19/04 - 1/31/05 G4-7447 1.33GHz
1/31/05 - Present G4-7447a 1.5GHz

So, in over 2 1/2 years the CPU speed hasn't even doubled, the video card has only marginally been upgraded, slightly faster bus speeds and RAM speeds (much of this relative to the rest of the industry), and a few extra add-ons and boosts in HDD capacity. But other than some relatively small upgrades, my PB G4-1.33 isn't all the much different than my first PB G4-867 and almost 2 years lapsed between purchases.

There's been virtually no change to the design, the screen, or anything else... oh, at least the little rubber feet don't fall off like they did on my rev A Powerbook G4 and it doesnt' wobble as much and the screen wasn't put on as crooked.

Well, the latest Powerbook/iPod special ends on 9/24 which is the last day of MacExpo. Maybe, just maybe, Apple will for a change announce new hardware at the end of a conference. If not, they'd better have an upgrade coming down the pipeline soon... the Powerbook/iBooks are their best selling computer products and it's hard to justify to a non-Apple person why they should buy 2003 tech when they can spend $1700 on a 2005 Sony (or less on a Dell). :(

:( I certainly hope (and maybe pray) that the 12" PB is not EOL :(

It seems then that there isn't much time left for announcement to day. Not good that Steve spoke publicly today without an announcement. :(

I know that I (hell, we) seem to grasping a straws here, but haven't most announcements this year been made on Wednesdays?

Its unfathomable that there won't be any updates for the immediate future. OK, the PM has had an update more recently than the PB's but Steve must have meant the dual core processors when he talked about the "new and exciting" PPC products still ahead.

And although its highly unlikely the PB will recieve anything quite as significant, a change of screen and a move to double layer burners is entirely possible - all it takes is a change in suppliers, surely (please correct me if I'm wrong - helps me to live in the real world!!). The change in processor would be nice, but I kinda doubt it. If all of the above happens I'll upgrade my current PB. Its all about a brighter, higer-res screen for me!

So let me get this right...the black curtains are still up?

If so that is a very good sign. In the past the announcement occurred on the second day of the show. Optimistic and fingers crossed.

If anything, this black curtain lark has increased the numbers on MR dramatically. Where'd all you Newbie's come from!!?!

Let's see now: dual core powerbooks this wednesday?
