Will be 6pm here.

how do I join an existing AIM chat room like that?!?

I think that you'll have to invite each person individually, if that is the case... my SN is st0id (that's a zero in the middle and not a capital "Oh")

Thanks

BTW I'm stuck with AIM on a Windows 2K machine *cring* if that affects how I'm to join the room.

ive been an ardent dis-believer in a surprise g5 pb update for months now. but since a few days ago, for some reason, my skeptisism has been tweaked hard. its been an eternity for the 15 update, and i think its way outdated - even if only comparing it to apples other models. bringing it up to date with the other "current" models seem very un-apple like. while not an absolute dissappointment, now it would seem like more of a surprise if the updates were minor speed bumps, al chassis, etc. and not a "major" update. but im basing this solely on time. it would "appear" that the engineers, manufactures, etc. have now had enough time to produce, or at least announce a g5 pb lineup. then again, mwsf is what... 5 months away... say it aint so.

patience is a virtue.....patience is a virtue....

powerbook 15in are shipping in 6-8 days!

its gotta be a g5! Apple wouldn't wait this long to to have a crappy update to the bread and butter of their laptops. I believe they worked on the motherboard concurrently with the desktops, and now (or very very soon) it is ready!

OMG OMG OMG

If the new 15" come out at the keynote, I will be an official SWITCHER !!!!!!!

Yay for me and my very first Mac !!!! :D

(i know this post is meaningless, but i'm that excited to finally switch!)

I know all of us are hoping for G5 PBooks, but I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet, we've all been patient so far, no need to get all fired up at the last minute so that instead of being wowed, we're all let down.

still wondering how to join a chat room from windows aim...

If the AIM on Windows won't let you join, try the windows port of GAIM. http://gaim.sf.net

You should be able to connect with no problem and no need of an invite.

Worldwide Chaos if Steve Screws Us On Powerbooks!

Im still sitting here with my G3, still waiting for an update to the 15" PB. Judging by all of the posts I am reading here, I believe I am not the only one waiting in grave anticipation.

I predict wide spread riots if Jobs doesn't unveil at the least an updated G4 15" PB

Please Steve! I have been wanting to upgrade for months now. PLEASE GIVE ME A NEW POWERBOOK DAMNIT! :)

Alas, with so many folks waiting, I suspect we'll still be waiting months to receive our new 15" PBs, even if they do announce them.

My story for staying up all Night until 4-5am EST

I am an Artist
a company wanted to do a 16 month calendar using my art and story to give out to clients

as part of my pay I got a 17" PB

I asked them to wait until Sept 20th but they would not

so I got the 17" on Friday with extra ram... the extra ram was bad not my PB is fried... monday morning called Apple Care they are sending me a box later today Tuesday to send it in for Repair...

Talked to the company I did the project with and they are finding out if they should just replace it for me they told me to hold off on sending it to Apple they may want to replace it, they need to get that approved.

If they do want to replace it, I hope I can upgrade to whatever Paris brings this morning.

the 17" PB is the most beautiful thing I've ever had if it was not for the bad ram I would be up waiting to see what the update is but would never trade my baby in. :(

sooo, if only the 15 and 17 inchers get an update, will the 12 inch get a price drop??

Could be, but there seems to be the possibility of a 12" update too. My sales rep at PC Mall who receives their stock from Ingram Micro has told me that there are very few of all PB's in the pipeline. Also I think this is a posibility because there were no PB's visable at the Apple area in the Expo pics in the previous thread.

Guess we have to wait and see.

2 hours and 30 min to go...

And, Linux folks. Though, I suspect I'll order mine from Terrasoft with it configured to dual boot OS X and Linux, just in case.

All my Linux and BSD buddies swear by OS X, but I'm still a little lost on my mom's iMac.

No one can deny the hardware kicks butt, though.

This should be in the linux/unix switchers FAQ.
