Why... because you have access to the great apps in the commercial?
You know that's what these ads are all about, right? Apps!
15 apps in 60 seconds... I don't know any other way to do it.
What is the speaker featured in the "DISCOVER" one? It's yellow woofer with chrome tweeter? I need one now!
Tellurium is a mineral (actually, an element), not a rock.
Same commercial could have been done with an iPhone 4s. When you watch a Samsung commercial they don't focus on the Apps; they focus on the phone and what it can do. Don't people already know by know that Apple has Apps?
And I don't like the same music theme and approach. It doesn't feel like a new commercial.
Apps are what it can do. And iOS can do sooooo much more than any Android phone because of the Apps that are available. Many of their so called innovations are from Apps developers created for the iPhone several years ago, like bumping the phones to transfer contact info.
Not as annoying as the whining I'm seeing here about a little shout every 10 seconds. Give me a break
They show words and then show apps that relate to the words. Duhh...
Oh and these ads aren't hurting Apple, it's Apple's laziness with the iDevices and iOS that's making them seem less appealing. If iPhone and iPad users were this critical of iOS, THEN Apple would be doomed.
You guys are nuts. These ads are excellent.
1. They show you all sorts of useful things you can do with an iPhone. The selection of apps being shown off is fantastic. Not only are you seeing cool things you can do on the iPhone, but you're seeing real world applications of the phone, such as with the Hue light, with Starbucks payments, and even with a remote controlled helicopter. There's so much variation here. Apple has had a lot of commercials over the years that show off App Store apps, but I think these two ads show off the best collection of apps in any such ad to date.
2. These ads are extremely memorable. A lot of people are complaining about the shouting, but look at how it grabbed your attention. Between the distinctive music, the cycling 'clicks', and the yelled adjectives, these are not commercials that you just see and just forget a few minutes later; they stick with you. They immediately grab hold of the viewer, and then show him or her all the great things the product can do, as I mentioned in point #1.
All in all, these are great ads. People who are attacking them are just stricken by nostalgia. Everything old is always considered better because it becomes a 'classic'. Give these time to sink in, wait a few months or years, and you'll view them in the same way. Aside from a few misses (like the celebrity Siri commercials last year) Apple's advertising is as good as ever.
Now I want to get some of those Philips Hue bulbs![]()
Fair Ads, but shouldn't Apple focus more on what the iphone itself can do out in the real world instead of what the apps do? If they are promoting the Devs who made these apps then good job, they nailed it, if they're trying to promote the device then that's a horrible fail. A similar Ad could run on the 4s,4 and 3Gs release period, this is not moving forward. I'm afraid it's only enticing to those who are afraid to look for other options.
Agreed!! I think this is the most clever/insidious thing they've done for a LONG while in adverts. Showing awesome 3rd party support. The Parrot AR helicopter, the Philips Hue light, even tuning the guitar...!
Really differentiates them from their (Android) competition.. Likely most people that see these commercials previously had no idea that iPhones could be used to control other objects as shown... bravo, Apple!
A quick search in the Google Play store finds a few Parrot apps, including the AR.FreeFlight 2.0, as well as a whole bunch of guitar tuning apps, such as Tuner - gStrings, as well as three separate Philips Hue control apps, including the stock Philips one.
Maybe I am stupid, but I am not sure what Apple is trying to achieve here and how this is differentiating the iPhone?
Or maybe Apple thinks its fanbase is uninformed?
