That would require the fanboys and girls to accept apple is doing wrong.
iTunes ping would access facebook well over the 100 mil call/day limit. Since it is getting that high it requires a special agreement. One apple is clearly not willing to play ball in. To me this just tell me it is type Apple arrogates. The fanboys and girls will blame facebook and not bother looking at the facts.
Let's all jump on the " I hate Facebook" bandwagon because it's the new in thing.
Let's all jump on the "haters hate Facebook" bandwagon without really understanding the valid points they are making, and instead put forth a straw-man argument that critics only have a problem with it because it's the "new in thing".![]()

This is what my 'welcome to Ping' email said..
Dear Rick,
Welcome to Ping. As you get started, here are some tips on how to get the most out of Ping:
Finding People to Follow
Ping makes it easy to find and follow your favorite artists and friends. In iTunes on your Mac or PC, select Ping and click Featured Artists or Featured People to find new or noteworthy Ping members. If you know someone already on Ping, you can search for them by name from the Ping home page. You can even check to see which of your Facebook friends also use Ping by connecting Ping to Facebook when editing your profile.
It clearly mentions FB! (I've made it red though)
LOLSounds like Steve got Zuckerpunched!
Facebook's so lame these days.![]()
Ping seems to go beyond API-integration, I suspect they're aiming to use third party social networks in their entirety, as lego-blocks for their own network; tapping directly into third party functionalities, interfaces, user base and data.
That is, unless some entity wants to access it a lot. In that case, Facebook requires an agreement for reasons primarily centered on protection of Facebook user data ...
They got lots of signups with the promise that your data would only be seen by your friends.... then they changed the terms. That's fraud, in my book.
They won't let you delete the data either, and that counts as invasion of privacy in my book.
I can't wait for the end of facebook.
FB is the Adobe Flash of social networking. Its everywhere and its trash.
snip...
It is trash but unfortunately it's trash that the über social amongst us flock to willingly like lemmings. I like the idea of FB but with its total disregard for privacy, it is probably the most evil company out there today.
Wow, fail on apples part, should have come to an agreement before pushing the release.
That said, this will end up in Apple's favor, no question.
Ping is the new Facebook for cool people. LOL![]()
I think the buttons being vertical are dumb, but do this in Terminal and you're good to go:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes full-window -boolean YES
Looks like Apple got the App store treatment.
Violate Terms of Service, get yanked.
The Lady Gaga Ping-page seems to be pulling content straight from her tumblr page -> http://****yeahladygaga.tumblr.com/
This suggests that they're using tumblr as an interface for their musician-pages.
(It might also explain why pictures aren't working properly, if Apple is overusing tumblr's bandwidth).

One Ping to rule them all, One Ping to find them, One Ping to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
"All Things Digital now follows up with a report claiming that the disappearance is due to Apple's unauthorized usage..."
I love it. Apple goes after Psystar....but then does the exact same thing!
