I’d definitely join this class action. I specifically upgraded to the iPhone 16 Pro in the hopes I’d get a MUCH better Siri sometime in 2025. Otherwise I would have delayed my purchase by at least a year.

Absolutely no one could possibly see this coming right. Apple should just set aside the money right now and have a signed check ready with a stamp and probably a 15% tip with a note that reads "Thank you, can I have another?"

Hopefully this forces Apple to think about what they will actually have ready.
Think we'd all love a return to announcements of things "Available today". Versus the "Available for pre-order" of recent years, and the "Available later" which got us here.

And unfortunate it took a soiling of this scale to bring that return.

This lawsuit has been a long time coming. Going back to the release of iCloud, and maybe even earlier, Apple has promised featured only to be delayed and eventually released half baked, if at all.

Regardless of all the consumer “pros” claiming don’t buy products based on future promises…there’s still things you can’t say or do as a company beta tag or not. Apple might actually have to answer for this one.
Yep, I think this may be a rare display of Apple making an actual mistake in their marketing and users expectations.

This isn't a "camera mode" or some other minor feature not available at launch. This was an entire set of features that weren't available at launch of the phone, and the slow drip drip of features that they did roll out over what's now 6 months is not impressive at all, some of them you'd be hard pressed to describe as actual AI.

This debacle will ultimately harm consumer confidence in Apple, something they don't typically have to worry about. It seems like they will need to do something much more drastic than paying out a class action suit to restore it. Something like allowing returns of devices or free upgrades to the next model. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple did either one of these things. They aren't scared of paying out millions, that's chump change to them. However, they are very afraid of how the public perceives them.

They should be .. they are perceived as over hyping and over promising on things that aren't even close to ready soon, or at all

The only false advertising was that the kid was a kid. Other than that people got AI that wasn't intelligent enough.

PS. It's pretty funny that almost everyone on MR claimed they would turn off AI rather than be forced to use it. Clearly no one here can file for the claim.

It wasn't smart for Apple to advertise the AI features before they were ready. But honestly I don't see the lawsuit going anywhere except maybe a settlement. Because delays can happen, and said features are still going to be released (only later).

As a decades long Apple customer with the full range of their devices it’s puzzling to witness this debacle. With world class resources at their disposal, continuing to ship underperforming Siri and vacuous Apple Intelligence boggles the mind.

Class action lawsuits are a mug's game.

Easy money for the lawyers involved but even if upheld, not much more than a pyrrhic victory for the group claimants.

Bought an iPhone 16? Vote with your wallet next time.
Completely agree.

This will be very interesting to see how it plays out.

So that’s why every iPhone 16 ad was about Apple Intelligence?

And even at this moment, it's still shown all over the place
