It is called false and misleading advertising. We are not in the 60s. Every company is accountable for their advertising actions!. Apple was blatantly lying because the presentation was a “demo video”, not a demo of a product in “beta”.
“Ready for apple intelligence later this year”, was a lie and Apple knew it.

That’s a bit extreme. It’s just some delayed features. Some have already released.

Edit: lol I love the angry face in this. Ridiculous.

The worst thing of this story is that no one wanted this features, this has "shareholders" written everywhere. We didn't care about this, most of apple users bought iPhones for years even if siri already sucked.

Shareolders forced this, they wanted to jump on the AI train because that's what is pumping stocks in the last 2 years.

not giving apple a pass on this blunder, but I'd love to see every other company living up to their promises as apple did.
would drive off but my new roadster decided to leave me in NY and currently heading down to LA autonomously, recharging itself along the route with the help of magic robo-snake charging cable and the battery swapping stations.

I regret upgrading last September. The only feature I notice is the camera button, which I never remember to use. It also means my case has a hole in the side that feels weird to hold.

I feel weird because I think most of my anger at Apple here isn't because I've been mislead (let's face it, most people on this site are aware of what Apple products do and don't do well), but really because I am mad that we finally get 16GM of RAM standard on Macs now, but half of that is dedicated to applications that I don't need, want, or believe will deliver as advertised when working. For crying out loud, if you say a new product has an Ax chip that is faster than the last, but it needs to be faster to deliver AI capability, I don't feel mislead, I just feel empty.

It’s good to see the lawsuit, but sadly the US consumer protections are simply not up to snuff to have something like this go in favour of the consumer.

Regardless of all the consumer “pros” claiming don’t buy products based on future promises…there’s still things you can’t say or do as a company beta tag or not. Apple might actually have to answer for this one.
You’re not wrong, and it also won’t be the first time Apple faces a class action, settles, and we all get a few dollars. For everyone - To be clear, always claim the settlement, even if it only amounts to pennies as it is one of the few ways we have to hold companies accountable. If you don’t claim the money, it may go back to the defendant.

“Unfair competition? They might be the market leader in some areas, but not AI. Other brands were miles ahead when Apple launched AI.
Apple isn't leading the market in anything anymore.

Cameras in iPhone still suck.
AI sucks.
Refresh rate sucks unless you have the pro phones.
Software sucks. Too many bugs and stale.
iPhone 16e was just eclipsed by the Pixel that was just released.
You still can't run console level games at high graphics settings on a Mac.
Macs still don't have OLED screens.
Only major manufacturer without a flip or fold phone.
Watch features have had to be retracted due to lawsuits.
iWork suite is a joke

Just had two people today switch from iPhone to a Pixel and a Samsung because they're sick of the nonsense. The people that got new iPhones had yet another issue transferring their data because Apple wouldn't allow them to reset their ID password without pulling teeth. Meanwhile, someone with a 10 year old Android phone easily transferred all their data to their S25 Ultra with Smart switch... No passwords or other bs required to complete it.

If it weren't for Steve Jobs, Timmy wouldn't have a job anymore, and be considered one of the worst CEOs in American history. Like Christ, Tim Cook is Michael Corbat level stupid.

I don't know who the bigger issue is at Apple --- the shareholders, the board, or Tim. All of them are at fault for keeping dumb Eddy, fat Phil, and the clown Craig in charge of anything.

They were pretty bad yes, and painted consumers as idiots.
Even putting Apple Intelligence aside, they have had a really bad year when it comes to marketing flubs.
The weird “crush” iPad ad, the weird ad about Thailand, the weird inflatable tube man ad…
The only silver lining to the AI delay, Apple putting those cringy commercials to bed (hopefully permanently).
