I truly hope this focuses on lifestyle devices or Macs. Let the iPod rest for a few months and kick some other goodies out like the old Airport Express, iSight, or Safari. All these goodies came out of nowhere (as I remember), I'd love for some more toys to bring in March.

Can't wait!!

I tend to agree with the analysts regarding the movie download service. Telstra here in Australia has just set one up. It's like a video store rental service though. You pay for 24hrs --> 3days viewing. After that the movie apparently just deletes itself from your system! Windowz only of course

I am sure there will be some hack so that the movies can be converted to mpeg etc and ultimately find their way onto the Bittorrent network.... If worst comes to worst a program like Snaps Pro X could be used to capture the movie as it is being played ;)

Bigpond movies

Using snaps pro would be pretty funny imagine a bootleg version of a film but instead of watching someone record it in the movie teather with a consumer camcorder youll see the movie being played on someones desktop.

I am not at all happy with Apple at the moment, so I shouldn't be excited about this  But I am ;)

How come arn doesn't get invited. Surely they know how important this site is

:D :D

You can set Snaps Pro X to only capture a selected portion or even the whole screen in full screen mode in quicktime you know ;)

Sounds like tomorrows going to be fun! :)

How long do the events like this usually last? Is there a keynote or is it different than regular events?

For me to drop some money tomorrow, it's gotta be

- iPod video with larger touchscreen/16:9
- New lifestyle portable -- like MS Origami but smaller and well-designed with Mac OSX integration, iLife apps and widget support, wifi for internet, e-mail and iTunes Music Store purchasing on the go.

New iBooks, Mac mini AV, Airport Express, iPod Shuffle with a screen, iPod HiFi/BoomBox... those are all yawners for me. A movie download service is cool, but I doubt I would use it unless I could somehow also play those movies on my HDTV, maybe serving them up via FrontRow to a new Airport with video out or somesuch. But it'd have to be good quality and it would have to also let me serve up video content in other formats (divx/avi/wmv) to really be useful.

Anyway, I'm hoping for something unexpected. "Fun + New + Product(s)," not just an iTunes Movie Store please.

There are only a few rumors listed as being possible for tomarrow .. like the iPod Boombox, and the Intel Mini .. but those aren't really special and don't tie in with the iCal icon in the invite. I think something else completely different will come and take us all offguard.

i heard somewhere it was originally used for internet.
I believe the "i" was meant to have a dual meaning, "Internet" and "I" (you know, like Windows "ME" ). I'm not sure if that came from Apple's marketing people in some interview or something, or was just common assumption with no basis, but it's what I always understood. I don't think any official materials ever defined it. (Nor the G in G3/G4/G5, which means "generation," nor the X in Xserve/Xcode/Xgrid which we must assume means "X" from OS X :) But I think Steve DID define the "e" in eMac to mean "education"--even though it became available to the general public too.)

"i" has long since passed into just a brand anyway. (And one many companies have copied.)

To anyone wondering what the "i" stands for: iMac Introduction

It's in the first minute.

You guys have to watch this! It's funny to see the specs on the original iMac. And Jobs is not wearing his trademark black long sleeve shirt. Sidenote, Jobs ALWAYS wears a brand new black long sleeve shirt that has never been washed, if you look close they all have a center seam still in them, something used for screenprinting, it goes away with the first wash.

Counting the hours!

Yeah, you HAVE to watch that clip. It's so retro; it's not just that Steve describes a G3/233 as "screaming," but just the significance of the whole thing. All of Apple's newfound success in the last six years or so, since Steve's return, started that very day with the announcement of the first bondi blue iMac. iPod, iTunes, the core duo iMacs, MacBook Pro and everything else is descended directly or indirectly from that thing.

I believe it was a small joke by Steve, as when he first moved back to Apple he was the Interim CEO iCEO hence the names iMac, etc. etc. :p

Oh yeah? Once he actually wore a suit. You heard right. Steve owns a suit.
