I get the feeling we are going to be disappointed, though I hope not...

April 1st will be the biggie.

M$ Introduced DVR in Vista

I just saw on the news tonight that one of the 6 flavors of Vista ("Vista Home Edition", I think it was) is going to have DVR capabilities built into the OS. Although you'll still need a video input card to use it, no extra software will be required, I guess.

It wouldn't surprise me if M$ announced it today knowing (or suspecting) that Apple has some kind of DVR goodies, or maybe more in the line of Video in iTunes (movies?) coming in a few hours.

I agree that a DVR system would cut into their TV show profits from iTunes, and it wouldn't really make sense, though.

But, then again, if it's going to be core in Windoze, then Apple might have to do the same just to knock out yet another argument FOR using Windoze. And, if Apple does put out a system with DVR capabilities, you know it will be very simple to use, and very classy. And you won't have to wait for Vista, either.

I much doubt it'll be a modified version of the current Mini, though. If they do announce DVR, my guess is that it'll be a whole different "box".

Myself, I'd just like to see a new Intel mini that's plenty faster than what's out now with the same prices (or lower)... Don't need all the bells and whistles everyone's dreaming about... Need to make a cheap, low traffic server out of one.

Can't get much sleep...

I've cancelled a photo shoot at IAH-Intercontinental Airport just for this event!
It'll be interesting to see what how they came up with Hi-Fi.

Yeah I have to say with the whole tone of the invite and where the event is being held, I'm not expecting much.

Hoping for LOADS but not expecting it!

im gutted that it will start at 6pm UK time - i will miss half of it due to lectures and then the second half will be missed because its pancake day (yum) :)

I consider myself "agnostic" as far as the MAC goes. I use Windows, Linux and MAC depending on the use case. I bought a MAC Powerbook for my portable use
What does MAC stand for?
(Hint: It doesn't.)

ah...this is going to be a looong day.
Gonna be a long night for me. The event starts at 5am here - not as bad as the 4am MWSF announcements, I can justify going to bed and waking up at 5am but for a 4am start I have to stay up all night and make increasingly incoherent posts - they really get weird after about 3am when the site starts to sloooowww riiiight dooooooowwwwwnnnnnnn.........

I think I'll get 6-7 hours by having and early night - and get up for the releases - By then I expect somethings would have leaked.

About boombox and uniqe features

Im thinking about how apple is going to have uniqe features on there boom box (ref from Think Secret).

How about a new Video Ipod with touch display. They would introduce iTunes videostore, and all of that.
But also, the new iPod would feature remote technology (wifi, bluetooth or IR) and you could use your new ipod to stream musik to your new boombox, and you could control your boombox with your iPodremote.
If you dont buy The boombox you could always use airtunes and you own HiFi equipment.

Is it too far fetched?

Macintosh - as in the Apple
Media Access Control - Mac address - network device hardware address

I think he was trying to say

Mac = Macintosh (an abbreviation, normal capitalisation)
MAC = Media Access Control (an acronym, thus in caps)

Since here's an easy way to distinguish between the terms, why not use it :p

It will be 3AM here in Tokyo...so I guess I can wake up to some sweeeet new products in the morn'...

WOO HOO
And everyone on the East coast of America and in Europe are complaining because it is really 1PM or 7PM on Tuesday. Boo hoo...

The poor people in Australia/New Zealand, Japan and the rest of East Asia have to wait until Wednesday for the announcement.

But in all reality, every can hear about the announcement at the sametime. We've all waited the same amount of time.

On that note... Please be something I don't want, please be something I don't want... I have no money!!!

Man I'm going to be running to the library every hour on the hour to check those updates! :D

I hate waiting the extra day. It's been Tuesday where I live for 19 hours. I don't get to find out until I wake up Wednesday! Arrrgh!

For his next trick: "Why not spend twenty minutes checking each 5-line comment before hitting 'Send'?"

Sorry. I've just read a lot of people criticising spelling in rumour sites recently, without adding anything to the debate. Seriously, is it worth it?

Oh, so before I get bogged down in grammar, here's a thoguht about Microsoft's DVR functionality. Perhaps they're including it in Vista (it's already in Media Centre, right?) because it's something people want? Not just to annoy Apple Computer.

To be honest, I'm seriously considering a Windows machine next because, well, I can get all the software and functionality I want. Also My Sony VAIO (from before I switched to OS X) is still running, over five years on, without any repairs or returns. My oh-so-perfect 15" FW800 powerbook came with a faulty screen and had an exploding power supply. In the 2 1/2 years I've owned it, it's spent two months away for repairs. Not a very good average, especially since you pay extra – more even than Sony – for the design.

Why does everyone here have to be so "Apple Good, Microsoft* Bad"? Sure, I think they're an evil monopolistic corporation that turns out some awful products late, but then again iTunes is run like a monopoly, and my PowerBook was a piece of crap. I just hope that the competition leads to better products for me. And I'll buy them from either company.

*or M$ as you guys prefer

I'm still really hoping for a tablet Mac (beginning to feel like the only one!!!) - it'd be extremely useful at work, and brilliant at home. As I use my nano 90% of the time I'd sell on my 5G if the tablet Mac had at least 80GB of storage. But after seeing the origami video/hype from MS I think they may be first to market... C'mon Steve - YOU CAN DO IT!
