Now I remember why I don't leave comments. Because a vast majority of Mac rumors are blind Apple fanboys.

Or you're just a troll. You're first comment was "all tablets suck" and yet you don't supply any reason as to why you have that opinion.

I think most of us can spot a troll who has never used one before, because you speak out of your bum and ignorance. I had a hard time understanding why I would want or need an iPad when they first came out, and now I see that 30 boxes of crap in a storage unit could be gone in addition to tons of other reasons.

They're bridge devices that are between a smart phone and full on pc. Yet, 90% of what we do on computers is perfect on a tablet. That leaves 10% elsewhere... no brainer to me.

Oh, and if Flash were such an Achilles heel, they wouldn't have sold 20 million of them and be breaking a sweat to keep with with demand

haha you're obviously an amateur, HTML 5 is basically replacing the outdated "flash"

Agreed. I think most people either forget or are unaware that HTML 5 (going back to when Apple first started to drop Flash) was still a new and developing thing. It continues to evolve and getter better and more functional over time.

The only thing Adobe really has going for it is that the majority of web games rely on their technologies. (Flash, Shockwave, etc.) That's where they'll have some staying power because a company like Zynga isn't going to re-write all their games (Cityville, Farmville, all the Villes) nor the other 30 major web gaming companies. If someone could create a lighter alternative with better performance, I think most companies would start developing on non Adobe platforms. Performance on them stinks.

Even in this regard though, Zynga has been porting those games to native apps for IOS with Farmville being the first. (It doesn't play well though with the web game). I don't think developers would be looking to port their Flash games if they didn't see a growing need. Even the best mobile version of Flash isn't handling games well.

I don't know. Maybe I'm crazy... but evolution seems to be kind of part of life. Otherwise, I'd still be using DOS.

There. I've done it. We can just add this script to MacRumors and not have to go through all of this work in the future.

// On Topic :

This is both good news for folks looking to buy (or pickup a second one for family) and for folks holding off on warranty repairs who were afraid they wouldn't be able to get a replacement.

You can make arguments either way for whether this means an iPad 3 is on the way. I personally don't think so. I think this is just Apple's suppliers and manufacturers hitting their stride. We've seen similar patterns even with things like new iMacs.

This says it all. The mother of all backlogs is far from over. Apple has carefully chosen which markets to remove backlogs on. Huge backlogs remain in other markets.

Will Apple realize an extraordinary quarter? - YES! Will Apple realize another extraordinary quarter after this one? YES especially if they can continue to move forward on reducing their backlog.

Watch this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpiVeC1Z3yI
It's the "Year of iPad 1" video.

It was on the Apple website and was shown at the Apple keynote. Seriously watch it. Then ask yourself - Is the iPad as terrible as you think? That video really makes you think and just be amazed that a product one year old has touched so many lives in a good way.

People can argue all day over what specs/features the iPad should and should not have. But in the end the sentiment of the video shines through. In the end it's not all about making a better device. The device as good as it is, is just a tool and a platform. And it's up to the developers and users to take this platform further and to new heights. And they did. They took something pretty good and made it amazing.

Just watch the video.

Some people have trouble seeing beyond their own nose. I think that video shows that the fundamental flaw in his statement is "targeted toward the internet". That's just one of it's functions. What started with the iPhone and has continued with the iPad, is people are using it as a mobile platform to support their own needs and activities. That process doesn't require Flash and is supported quite well by the future curve for HTML5. With mobile platforms changing how people interact with the internet, the internet is swinging away now from the commodization created by the domination of Google Search that really reached it's peak in 2008.

"You can tell people that lie about having an iPad..."

Because everyone that really has an iPad that clicks on the above link actually goes into the YouTube player and watches the video. The people that lie simply don't know that simple effect;-)

As I stated later on in the thread I'm using Atomic Browser, which doesn't open the Youtube App (it might be configurable - not really checked to be honest - lack of youtube linking isn't really an issue - just a slight annoyance).

Please don't assume all people are lying, we might be just using it differently.

Caught up to demand? More like demand has dropped.

I'll give you the benefit of the troll-doubt and temporarily label you as uninformed.

As i said in a previous comment, they have only caught up to demand in some markets, such as the US. In other markets they face huge backlogs.

The perfect storm continues building for Apple - see the word momentum for more illumination.

That's not everyone's opinion:

How does that account for HP being the gatekeepers to a big percentage of the customers MS would need to reach that sort of numbers?

They have approx 18% of the PC market and most of that via corporate contracts. They also have a very sizable part of the market for the server room infrastructure driving those companies. They can offer those corps a fully supported eco-system and add their own Mobile and Tablets in that mix. They are there by direct relationships with the customer. MS haven't ever really had a customer relationship with any of it's users so they need to build that from scratch or get 3rd parties to do it for them.

Any analysis who pushes HP to "Also Ran" in either of those markets is missing the point. Windows was dominate because of the people who made the relationships in business. Well that and Data lock in, but that is where that Unix-like systems have advantage, they can talk the talk.

Buy a tablet that does flash rather than bogging down mine, thanks. I don't care what other people want. I want, and paid for, speed, stability, and long battery life. And your generalization about who wants what and when isn't exactly supported by the sales figures.

uh, what?

no one is forcing you to use flash. you're making it seem as if flash would make the iPad worse, when in reality it wouldn't. ya sure it may take a hit on battery life, but if you're not using it then your iPad will run as it does now. use some common sense.

supply shortage

That's in very short supply on any thread on MacRumours that discusses Flash.

Hm...is it really Apple that catches up with the demand, or the demand is eventually lowered ?
Or maybe a bit of both.

As to your comment about lack of "the most common internet plugin" - why not just say Flash? I for one don't mind waiting for the laggers to catch up with HTML5 - better power savings, and major heat reductions.

On what do you base that assumption? HTML 5 is not even an official standard yet and as of today, all major browsers have different implementations of that wanna-be-standard that are, exactly as it has been in the past, not fully compatible with each other. And I strongly doubt that video playback or graphics rendering will magically be more efficient and power saving than Flash's highly optimized and matured engine.

Flash delivered on a lot of promises that Java made back in the day, and used right, it can deliver amazing things. Just check out "Machinarium" in the Mac App Store - this is one of the many great Flash games. Or buy one of the comic-style Spanish courses from PONS, they were also made in Flash.

Adobe's Flash authoring environment is also great to work with. Thus far, there is not one tool on the market that even remotely comes close to Adobe Flash Pro. But since Adobe is working on HTML 5 backends for Flash, you will probably see the generation of HTML 5 websites being made... with Flash.

And no, your ad banners won't go away with HTML 5 either. They will just be ported from Flash to HTML 5, and this time no ad blocker will be able to block them.

And the last thing before I leave for this morning's staff meeting (it's 9:48 here in Germany): Flash runs great on my Samsung Galaxy S2. Very obviously, other platforms are capable of supporting Flash and giving their users a FULL web experience. Then again, these other platforms also don't censor their app stores either and they even grant the user full access to their file systems. And they even had all the significant forthcoming "iCloud" features from the very beginning.

Just to make this clear: Apple builds awesome hardware. It's just iOS and its many, many restrictions that totally suck.

And here is another interpretation why Apple can now ship iPads within three days: The market is already saturated.

This might have been said already but how do we know for certain that demand hasn't simply fallen to meet supply versus the other way around?

I think you may be right about that. There's been a lot of speculation that there will be a new ipad (ipad 2+, ipad 2S or ipad3) coming out in September. Everyone reading that speculation might well hold off to see if the speculation is true or not.

The iPad is BY FAR the worst tablet out there at the moment. Apple fanboys are hilarious though!

I love the objectivity of those highly educated and well-informed people who prefer Android, and how they support their opinions with well-formulated and verifiable arguments. Not.

Valid question. I'm wondering how people are so sure that it's purely supply that's caught up with demand?

Yeah, I love how all the reviewers and actual impartial users are all wrong and you are simply right because you are...

I'm not a fanboy btw, I only own an iPhone 4, no other Macs, but have an iPad 2 (my second after returning a dead-pixel one) on the way. I tried the other tablets but was not impressed.

Well in the UK everywhere is out of stock of the most popular models, the staff in the shops seem to be tired of telling everyone that - therefore, anecdotally at least it seems the demand is still strong but the supply lacking.
