Where's Mac? I have an iMac in my training room but none of these other devices (well, aside from the phone, but that's too small a screen).

Why is this geographically limited? Other than language issues of course, but if you have no problem with English, why not allow it anywhere?

- my guess is that mac would be the only tool ppl can use to rip the sessions and share on torrent sites. I also think that it is a tiny minority who use a mac in their fitness room :D

- I am also puzzled about the geographic restriction. Probably a legal thing, very annoying ... remember when DVDs had region codes? :D

This was my families favorite part of the preview.
Similar here ... I knew a new Apple Watch was coming ... but this was unexpected .. and while I am not big on those service subscriptions ... THIS looks really good ...

My wife already pays like 8$ for YogaGlo .. so, when doing a year of Fitness+ is 6.67$ ... that feels ok.

Don't spread misinformation.

The app is already on your Watch. It's built into the Health app, which you get at no additional cost.

Fitness+ is a seamless, motivating end-to-end user experience like everything that Apple aims to build. It's not just some video you see on a big screen, it's a virtual coach, combined with metrics and monitoring.

As the video on the screen plays back, the visual elements that are displayed react to put a heavy focus on where it needs to be.

Watch the introductory video for more information.
OK, Tim Apple! LOL

I would like to see the Apple Watch work better with regular outside Bicycle workouts.

So annoyed this is geographically limited. Ah well, I'll stick with Les Mills On Demand (which is also only in English) until Apple realizes there are people who speak and understand English in other countries as well.

I thought this was the best thing to come out of yesterday's presentation!

I've been doing HIIT exercises daily since March this year (mainly from YouTube) but I for one, will definitely be using this service.
:)

I've been asking myself this question about Apple News, some Kindle books, TV shows etc.

It's like digital goods retailers don't want my money just because where I'm from and where I happen to live.

I pirated the entire Mandalorian series just because Disney didn't think it worth their effort to launch in Malaysia. I am unable to finish some sci-fi book series because Amazon decided to only allow the first book to be sold in Malaysia - and their customer care is more useless than panties on a working girl. And the books ain't popular enough to be pirated.

As someone who has managed to go from 210 pounds down to 168 in lockdown using the Apple Watch for a lot of support and motivation I like the idea of fitness+ to add more to the mix both in terms of exercise to get involved in and additional tracking and motivation.

I know a lot of people question why pay for this over watching Youtube and so on but you are not going to get that integrated experience that carries through on your overall fitness program.

I will certainly be trying it out.

For one thing, you won’t hear “click that subscribe button”.

Integration with Apple Watch, ability to customize music and workouts, professional quality — what they are offering is a steal for the price. With minimal or no equipment, you could skip the gym and get a great workout at home (depending on your fitness goals).
But will it start out with “Hey guys”?

Price is right (at least with the annual sub), and yeah, an absolute steal as you say, if you’ve got 2-6 family members participating.

I actually understand why News+, Kindle etc are limited, as that's a rights issue. Fitness+ however is totally Apple and there's no legal reason not to roll it out worldwide.

I'd just like to say: Peloton is f@$d.

Peloton is $30/month plus the cost of a very expensive, overpriced treadmill whose only price is justified by the display mounted to it and the associated classes.

Fitness+ is only $9.99 and works with an iPad or any existing TV with tv and also works with dozens of other workouts, not just running — and it's included in Apple One for even less than that (essentially free with other services).

Peloton has a head start by the installed base of treadmill owners but anybody thinking of getting into smart fitness at home will think twice about spending thousands of dollars on this premium treadmill when they can instead use their Apple Watch.

I think we'll see a community build up around Fitness+ as it gets going. You'll be able to challenge your friends and join classes simultaneously.

It really will depend on the quality of workout programs. If all you get are adhoc videos of different exercise types - perhaps with better production value than an average joe insta or youtube video - the subscription will not be worth it. There need to be full "programs". I have been doing insanity, P90X etc. and the value of these are the structure they bring over a period of 60-90 days.

How is Fitness+ better than YouTube? It integrates into the Apple Watch/Fitness ecosystem, which gives you all your stats in relation to the video. The video production quality is guaranteed (which it isn't on YouTube), and it's easily searchable, knowing you won't get ads for products in your search results. You can filter it by your equipment level too, so you know you won't get videos telling you to use equipment X when you don't own it.

You can do fitness stuff on YouTube if you want - just like you can do anything with YouTube videos. But if you want an easier, more integrated experience, then you sign up to specialised services. It's up to you to find where the balance of price vs quality/convince falls for you.
If true, then great. But you're making big assumptions.

I mean...doesn't this apply to anything? Why is Udemy better than YouTube? Because you get well built courses with reviews to let you know if it's good, and a curriculum. Why do cooking classes when you have YouTube? Why go to college to learn how to be a joiner (talking UK college here, not US), when you can watch YouTube?

This ^. Exactly this. I don't know why, but when it comes to common sense, so many people just seem to completely lose it if Apple are involved. Something like this is a classic example. There are clearly plenty of subscription based fitness platforms already that, presumably, offer something over and above just watching videos on YT.

As far as I can tell Fitness + does seem to have a pretty good USP, which is the Apple watch integration and display of live data onscreen. Like most people I've dabbled with the gym, or other fitness apps in my time, and that does sound like something that would be good to have. And of course not for everyone, with something like fitness and motivation, we all respond to different things.

I guess it could just be a bunch of random videos, but probably not.

A couple of other little things are the ability to display onscreen a graphic showing - in real time - how you are doing compared to others who have done the same workouts. Its a small thing, but could be a motivator, and is something you're not going to get from YT videos. The idea of displaying live data pulled from your watch onscreen does seem a definite differentiator. Does Pelaton do similar? It looks really great too, but still pretty expensive.

There's also the Apple Music integration - I'm not sure if other apps can integrate in quite the same way. They possibly can though.

Wasn't planning on purchasing this gen BUT i do have a best buy GC that can make this deal work...
Now do I want to actually "fitness+" my life? Not sure..

I think with Apple One its going to be a no brainer for a lot of people. I currently have Apple Music and 2TB iCloud storage, and still on my free year of Apple TV+. When that runs out, that would be £22 a month. For an extra £8 I can get News +, Fitness + and Arcade. That seems a pretty good deal.

You aren't going to get fit by flailing you limbs in random directions, it takes more than that. You may get skinny, but that would mostly come from what your caloric intake is.

This was my first thought. I don't see the benefit unless the classes were more like Zoom workouts with more personal guidance and instruction.

I just hope this doesn't allow Apple to take advantage of the dubious legislation that "prevents" corrupt practices in the Gym & Health Club industries.

Currently these "memberships" [read: subscription services] are extremely easy (and cheap) to initially sign up for, but canceling your membership is much more difficult. I've personally talked to an Equinox salesperson who, when questioned about the ease to cancel memberships, essentially described such practices as a (twisted) form of motivation to keep members healthy and achieving their goals.

Why would it be any more difficult to cancel than any other Apple service or app subscription?

You could register to US App Store and read those books.

...not necessarily!!

Pre January 2020, I did absolutely zero exercise - my average resting heart rate was 63bpm.

I started exercising daily (25 minute HIIT routines - precisely by "......flailing limbs in random directions") during the lockdown since March + also going out for 5K runs (I have never run before!) once a week.

My average resting heart rate is now down to 50bpm.
;)

We are lucky enough here in Indonesia to magically get Disney+.
I do agree. Digital is supposed to increase access, yet these companies are building virtual walls, as if they don't want money.

I can somewhat understand copyrighted materials (movies, books, etc) as some countries actually have other companies being the official distributors, so even the original studio cannot make the content available in those markets themselves due to contractual obligations. As for books specifically, some countries may require censorship, so the service is not possible.

However, I don't understand if it is Apple who produced this themselves. And it's weird. Apple manages to make Apple music and even Apple TV+ available here in Indonesia, yet not Fitness+.

This‘s simply not true. I almost die doing exercise with Nike Training, with no equipment at all.

Good job!

Unfortunately most people equate ‘getting fit’ to ‘getting ripped’ and they’re not the same at all. You don’t have to look like the rock to be fit and healthy....
