I too have Peloton but I wonder how the spin class would work with the original bike recognising the cadence / resistance metrics output from the sensors?

Not sure it would, perhaps on the Bike+ as it has GymKit.
I think your Peloton would just operate without metrics on the screen if you did not have a current subscription, but the resistance control would still work physically. I have a Peloton and plan to keep my subscription active -- the $40 a month for a whole household is not a bad deal if you already have the bike. That said, I think the new Apple service is also great, so not knocking it in the least

Apple fitness is only launching in the US, the UK and perhaps Canada and a couple of other native English speaking countries- same as Apple news- because Apple assumes people in other countries aren't interested in a site in English.
They couldn't be more wrong.
Kids particularly are entirely used to Youtube videos in English, movies, games and that's not including the millions around the world who are ex-pat or use English as a second language.
Do they think teenagers and young adults in France and Germany only listen to French and German music? Haha. that's really quite funny and even a bit of an insult if you've ever been to somewhere like Holland or Germany where a lot of people speak better English than the average Brit.
The Apple One subscription abroad is the same price but does not include fitness or news.
They have said it might when they can dub it....more laughing.

I know they said something about music styles in the commercials, but does anybody know if we'll be able to choose the music we listen to while working out or we'll have to use their playlists already on the video? I would like the option of having no music at all too. I might want to do a bike workout while watching tv and don't need music.

No, it’s the volume. You can eat sugar, just not 64oz of Coke per day.

Food consumption is a lot faster calorie gain than exercise can burn those calories. Starting with eating less is a better start than working out to try to burn off said coke.
Can confirm. Lost over 100 pounds with eating less and working out. Eating less was the key factor. Working out just makes me feel good.

Thank you.

A Snickers candy bar is about 250 calories. You can eat that in 3 minutes.

You’d need to run 2 miles to burn that candy bar.

It’s far easier to NOT eat the candy bar than to run the 2 miles, so if you cut out a couple things like that daily, you’re way ahead.

Exercise is good for cardiovascular health and has other benefits, of course.

The point is, you can eat calories A LOT faster than you can burn them.

Apple News is not a good product.. Apple fitness would make the Apple one plan a better option because Apple News is just not moving units..
Apple News could be a lot better.... I tried the free month and canceled. It's recommendations generally suck and it's not the greatest browsing experience. Needs to be more Flipboard like.
I had a dream that it launches next week and Apple also release Fitness+ dumbbells that track your intensity.

Why I didn't dream they released a treadmill or bike I don't know.

I could actually see Apple working on smart dumbbells. I mean, they could sell dumb bell covers with mag safe charging accessories and dongles.... because Apple loves dongles and accessories.

Bow Flex put out a set of smart dumbbells a few years back, but discontinued them.

Hmm. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple isn't working on something similar. I can't see them creating a bike or some other type of machine themselves, but I could see them partnering with fitness companies like Bow Flex or Nordictrack. I think the one thing Peloton does right is their subscription service where competitors all have opportunities to do better.

This isn’t a new idea and America is in worse health than ever. People just don’t like hearing this doesn’t solve the problem.
Actually, there is a lot about this that helps to solve the problems that are contributing to American obesity. This can be done at home, at people's convenience, and can be flexible enough to help build habits.

Sure, it's not as easy, or as worthless, as pontificating that others should do better than they do, but a home program is easier to start up again when it has slipped, doesn't involve going somewhere else and all that is involved with a gym, and doesn't involve expensive and difficult to cancel subscriptions.

Moving more, which is what these classes are about, burns calories, helps raise metabolism so that more calories are burned when not exercising, and can contribute to lowering tensions, which tend to lead to eating the wrong foods.

Yes, people in the US, on average, tend to eat more carbs and sugars than they should. A lot of that is because the food industry, with government assistance, has done a great job of hiding those things so that it is difficult to avoid them. This provides one step for people who want to take care of themselves to do so while still having some fun and relaxation in their lives.

No one disputes than any exercise program will be helpful.

My point is, this is just like the rest that don’t work. Motivation has to come from within.

Convenience is a bad thing when it comes to working out. It’s so convenient, you’ll never do it.

I'm not sure what a tennis or baseball specific workout would even look like. One that could be done indoors. I think the market for those type of workouts on Fitness+ would be small.
It would look something like this:

They have programs for baseball/softball, volleyball, football, tennis. I don't see why Fitness+ couldn't/wouldn't try something similar

Have to disagree with your last comment if you change working out for food you're closer. Having read your comments, just because it doesn't motivate you doesn't mean it won't others. Given much of the world is in some form of lockdown and a lot of people are feeling very isolated anything that helps to motivate people to do something can't be a bad thing.
