Well, I guess I will order an Apple Watch Series 6 now, I have been on Series 2 since they were introduced but Apple in their infinite wisdom and Capitalist Ambition made it such that Fitness+ require an Apple Watch Series 3 or better.

damn!
Most likely the S2 would not be able to handle it.

If most of the workouts can really be done with just a set of dumbells like they said in the keynote, this will be pretty appealing especially during covid.

Why is it so hard to find a fitness app with a great Outdoor Run Program?

Peloton rarely releases some and Fitness+ doesn't even mention them?
How much do you need a voice yelling at you when running outdoors? You've already got real life providing visual stimulation. Pace tracker keeping you on pace. Audible alerts at set time/distances. Music of your choice. How much more utility is a trainer going to provide?

For the same reasons people want/need fitness trainers for other workouts? Motivation or training to specific goals.

To OP, have you tried Nike Run Club?

If you are on an outdoor run, shouldn't your focus be on your path (ensuring you don't trip or be hit by a car) and your surroundings (ensuring no one attempts to rob you) instead of an fitness app on your device?

I know I do. I can't imagine there is a city in the US with sidewalks as bad as ours.

I don't know where you run, but if you feel like you're going to get robbed while running, choose a different route...

I have. Not really a fan.

I have a peloton so I like just being able to track everything I do in the one ecosystem. If apple owns/is exclusive to Nike run club, why cant Fitness+ offer the runs they used to have before NRC went "free" and took away all their content?

Since it is a streaming app, why not support MacOS? My exercise bike actually has a desk attached, I'd like to use my MB Air as the fitness player.... wonder if Apple would allow you to load their app as an iOS app on an M1 mac....

About freaking time! This is the one big thing I've been waiting on for launch since they announced it. And of course a refreshed AppleTV, but it looks like that might not ever happen at this point, lol.

Has anyone read if you'll be able to track workouts with your watch if using Fitness+ via AppleTV or an iPad? AppleWatch, as far as I can tell, only links up to track workouts if used as a stand alone fitness activity or a workout through an iPhone app.

Exactly!! Big Peloton user here and its frustrating how limited Peloton's outdoor workouts are. Simple solution would be the ability to add a feature to just track activities: I select my music and the app just tracks the actual workout - like runs, outdoor cycling, etc..., but no.

For runs I have used Nike Run Club though.

There is no reason the workout from Fitness+ won’t be tracked.

Currently have the peloton app which is great with my stationary bike. Curious if fitness+ will support Bluetooth cadence sensor like the peloton app
I use a third party app to link my watch to my Peloton to track my heart rate: HeartCast. It works perfectly 95% of the time, but every once in a while it just won't link up. When that happens I usually just restart my watch, phone, and Peloton (annoying, but only happens once every few weeks). For cycling sensors I'm probably going to get the Wahoo Cadence and Speed sensor for my road bike. Per reviews and their website its compatible with the iPhone via the Wahoo app as well s a few other popular cycling apps.

As of right now the AppleWatch does not sync with anything via the iPad or AppleTV. The work around is starting a fitness app on your watch and starting a separate workout via whatever fitness app you choose (doubling workout data). OR You can AirPlay a fitness workout from your phone to your AppleTV.

If I were you, I'd buy a series 3 for cheap and follow that up with a rumored 7 redesigned. And no, I don't mean the box that was shown yesterday, but the redesign that has been rumored multiple times recently.
