They could’ve just said we’re investigating and if it was intentionally done we’ll take appropriate action.

Any idea that it was intentional by Apple or Apple employees would have risked the $500B investment by Cook.

There is zero chance this is a bug.

Apple had to make something up now or make something up later. The end result would have been the same. Why not do it now?

It's most likely rogue employee(s), likely following the "resistance" calls by the opposition.

I would hope that Apple finds out and explains who did it and that they were fired.

And this is why AI and similar products can't be blindly trusted. No matter how good it gets someone is programing it and injecting bias, either on purpose or unintentionally . All humans are flawed and will put their flaws into the programming when it comes to something like AI that appears to think for itself.
While I could see the sheer volume of people calling Trump racist causing the AI to think they were synonyms, they still don't sound similar. This causes the "bad actor making a career limiting move" scenario to seem more likely. There is no call for those kinds of actions. The other guy won the election. It won't be the last time.

Trump has not been found guilty in a court of law for being a racist or rapist.
On the bright side, Apple can afford to pay to settle.

He has actually, on racism, with a consent decree (in addition to a justice dept settlement)

On the rape charge the only reason he hasnt is because NY has a distinction between rape and sexual assault most states dont. The civil suit he lost would have labeled him a rapist in most of the US.

And of course he’s been found guilty of felony fraud

Hard to can someone who owns his own business.

I have zero sympathy for bureaucrats.

When I first started practicing law, I had to send lists of all daily activities for a long time to confirm I was billing and, you know, practicing law.

If I didn't come up with legitimate tasks, I would have been fired or face ethical problems for not properly representing my clients.

So I don't find any of this scandalous. Do you not have a job? Don't your employers expect you to...um...work?
Business go bankrupt, and I suspect MANY will do so in the next four years courtesy of the recession this unhinged joke of a president will cause.

Multiple iPhone owners today noticed a pronunciation processing issue that causes the word "Trump" to momentarily show up when using dictation to send a message with the word "racist."

trump-iphone-dictation-issue.jpg

In some cases, when speaking the word racist through the iPhone's built-in dictation feature, the iPhone briefly interprets the spoken word as "Trump" and "Trump" text shows up in the Messages app before being corrected to the actual word (racist) as Apple's processing interprets what was said.

Speaking the word racist with dictation doesn't always show "Trump" first, though it did show up more often than other words in our testing. We also saw "Rhett" and "Rouch" appear before the iPhone corrects to racist.

A video depicting the bug has been circulating on TikTok and other social networks. An Apple spokesperson told The New York Times that the issue was due to a phonetic overlap between the two words. It is not clear if this dictation issue existed prior to today and was just now noticed, or if there was some internal change that caused it. Apple said that it is working on a fix.

Former Apple Siri team member John Burkey told The New York Times that there is "probably" code in Apple's systems that is causing the iPhone to write Trump when someone speaks the word racist. "This smells like a serious prank," he said, though he also claimed that it is not clear if it was added into Apple's code or seeded into data that Apple uses for its AI features.
