Isn't there even a saying something to the effect of "...and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt" ?

EDIT: I found the source. The Movie M*A*S*H, Colonel Blake says "Captain Pierce went to Japan and all he got me was this lousy T-shirt".

Seriously, they knew about this saying and still gave a T-Shirt. Wow. Talk about insulting and demoralizing.

What you just described, in so many words and probably took you hours of preparation, is what capitalism is all about. This does not only concern apple. So keep bashing apple and stay ignorant.
Not exactly.
Capitalism offers chances beyond daytime payment. It rewards employees by giving them shares of success and offers promotion via self-development.
Over-capitalism offers empty phrases while keeping the real rewards for upper management.
Get educated (or stay happy with a T-shirt, beads & mirrors)

I'm always grateful for anything and don't like to ever look a gift horse in the mouth but, when you see the execs pocketing tens of millions in bonuses and take into account the standard of gift from previous years, it's a bit of a smack in the face.

Our AASP are, comparatively, very generous in their bonuses. Won't say more for fear of identification, but they're good to us.

This is hilarious...."That GIFT they got sucks". A bunch of people criticizing a company for what they GIVE their employees. So what about the $5k in FREE stock that the employees got over the last few years???

You are wrong about $5k in free stocks. The RSU program is significantly lower than that, $1k for most, and takes 3 years to mature.

They expect employees to wear these in order to advertise Apple? This, after not paying them for the time spent in the security checkout line?

Apple has about 115k employees.
Looks like they gifted close to 1 million dollars. Or $8.69 per shirt.
Or, do whatever math you choose.

A gift is a gift folks, my company gave out nada; and I personally don't fault them for it.

I have worked for companies before that did not give out any type of bonus or gift and honestly, I'd rather have nothing than an ugly shirt and a credo. The company is under no obligation to give employees nice gifts but a smart company flush with more money than any other company on the planet can certainly afford something more than this. The point of a bonus is a reward for the employees for a good year financially, something Apple clearly had. This shirt is just another example of how tone deaf and out of touch Apple management has become.

So, the execs are not employees.
The company exists because ALL of the employees, not just because of a few execs.

Where I work we get a bonus if we make a decent profit, ALL people get exactly the same, whether you are the director or working on the work floor.
Well said. I happen to be invited on a staff Christmas dinner of a company where I was detached to for the better part of this year. About 80 head workforce, decent restaurant, and everybody was attending from the CEO till the janitors and parking guys. The company did well this year and I'm sure everybody got an honest bonus.

If they're worth hiring they're worth honoring.

Bonus...never. Its unapple like to give bonus or incentives.

There was a question at an event in Cork where someone asked about having a Christmas bonus, and Cook stopped, looked and replied "money isn't everything" or something to that effect.

After 5 years at apple you get a framed bit of paper, after 10 years, the "crystal" lump. Thats about it as far as awards are concerned. Yes we have had blankets (for those days its so cold and we cant afford heating ;) and a water bottle a few years back)

We were just given stocks this year too.

Every December, Apple provides its retail employees around the world with a special holiday gift to thank them for their contributions to the company and to celebrate the holiday season.

For 2016, Apple is giving each employee a T-shirt and a printed copy of the company's credo. The t-shirt is gray in color and features two circles created from what appears to be a list of all of the company's retail locations around the world.

The credo is printed on a heavy card stock and comes in a protective envelope. Apple first introduced its new six-paragraph credo in August of 2016.

Apple's employee gift this year is somewhat less impressive than the gifts that have been handed out in past years. In 2015, employees were given a set of black and red urBeats headphones from the Beats by Dr. Dre product lineup and a nine-month Apple Music subscription.

In 2014, employees received an Apple-branded Incase backpack, and gifts in the years before that have included things like blankets, water bottles, hoodies, free apps, discounted iTunes gift cards, and more.

Trump & his kids probably got them already
