Everyone is different. Others can see this as a very nice gesture. A gesture that companies are not obliged to do. I'm one of those. Then there are others that are just sad and pathetic. They cannot see any good in most things. Probably unhappy, lonely dark souls. On the outside they seem happy, successful and confident. Inside a sad pathetic dark soul with no future for true inner happiness. Don't be mad at them, just let them be to live out their sad lonely life.

I've been watching the decline over the last two years and hoping it was just a little miss here or there, or perhaps somewhat manifested by the complaints here at MacRumors. But now I'm convinced the problem with management is real and this just confirms it even more for me. Apple's leadership is way out of touch with reality and they have no idea what they are doing to their customers or their employees.

Folks, we are witnessing the fall of the greatest company in the world. It doesn't happen overnight or in one month. It usually takes 2-4 years to erode, but I assure you it's happening.

Cash bonuses are generally bad Christmas gifts.

The reason being they are wonderful the first year but they are expected the second. People start budgeting for them and expecting them.

However, after getting beats headphones last year getting A T-shirt would seem like quite a letdown.

The design resembles the shape/outline of Campus 2 lol. :)

Yah! good catch.

wow, another T shirt made in china for 1 cent. Lol

Nauseating, meaningless, patronising corporate ******** of the very worst kind. How utterly soul-destroying for the staff.

Amazing the company is rolling in cash thanks to their employees. Jeez, the company's employee credo and a t shirt? They are getting very open with their greed and arrogance. You think Jony is excited about his new t shirt? No, probably his six digit bonus is a tad nicer.

Agree.
This is tone-deaf on the part of Cook.
I'd be demoralized if I had to work there.

Tim and his penny pinching strikes again. The employee gifts get cheaper every year.

Yup, I have to agree with all of this. I find this "gift" to be poorly thought out. We do have to remember that Apple's staff continues to grow every single month, and their revenues may not be growing at the same rate "per head". A t-shirt and a company "pat on the back" are not really worthy gifts, though, especially if not "made in America". I do expect Apple management to have put more thought into this. They are not obligated to give anything, but if they are going to do something, why not make a bigger effort?

People bust their asses off all year (mostly), Apple rakes in billions and they give employees a t-shirt. This reminds me of that scene in Christmas Vacation where Clark gets the "Jelly of the Month Club".

Every move Apple makes anymore is pushing me further from the brand. My wife and me were in the mall last night and we didn't even look into the Apple store as we passed. We didn't do it intentionally, we just had no desire for anything to go in there.

Tell me another retail chain that big who does profit sharing.

Interesting assessment. First you said everyone is different. Then you classified people into two distinct groups:
- group 1: naive Kool-aid drinkers who will defend Apple no matter what they do;
- group 2: the rest of the world.

Stay thirsty, my friend!

Oh that makes more sense. I was wondering why Apple would give employees a T-Shirt that makes them look like they're wearing a target marker. Hmm, it does look a bit occultist. I'd rather have a Pokemon shirt, myself. ;)

So does that mean everyone that got a t-shirt also got a share of the profit? I highly doubt it. Senior executives do, but where's the stories of Apple Store employees getting a nice slice of that profit as they're handed the shirt?

Coming to this conclusion about the negative reaction of the shirts is a HUGE jump in logic.

The comments on this thread are beyond cringeworthy... Endless bad jokes and "clever" catchphrases.

So much hate over Apple giving gifts they aren't even obligated to give. Chill out people.

I agree. I personally find both gifts very meaningful. The t-shirt is symbolic of the great team at Apple. The credo is purposeful and uplifting. Apple employee compensation is a separate matter and I suspect most Apple employees are satisfied with their compensation and benefits otherwise they would be somewhere else.

Many of these comments, on the other hand are downright deflating. They provide a glimpse into the shallow minds and and resentful hearts of so many people. Goodness guys, this is the season for being thankful for what's good in all of our lives, not to spread resentment and discontent.

Thank you Apple for enriching my life with great products and services that help me reach for and achieve my aspirations daily.

Happy holidays to all.

Apple has about 115k employees.
Looks like they gifted close to 1 million dollars. Or $8.69 per shirt.
Or, do whatever math you choose.

A gift is a gift folks, my company gave out nada; and I personally don't fault them for it.

The point is, what kind of a gift is this? How much benefit do the employees receive from a t-shirt that is basically an advertisement for their employer? And a t-shirt in the middle of December? A sweater may have been more appropriate but that would put too much of a dent in their 200 billion dollar cash pile.

That's pretty sad. I guess retail didn't do amazingly well this year.

The only real gift you can receive in life is the joy of helping others! Giving money or material gifts is actually the opposite it breeds envy and takes us away from our true purpose. gift giving has become a game of expectations.
just like the childish needs of people looking for new technology just for the sake of it being new rather than what it can actually accomplish for you. i could argue no other company has enriched so many lives with technology than Apple that is the real gift!!. They especially do more for people with special needs with their technology than any other company. To see the smile of a blind child able to use a computer because of the special access Apple builds into every product is more important than material gifts. Do any of you really know how much Tim actually makes and what he does with his money? Research it! He lives very modestly unlike many other ceo's. In addition, Apple has donated more money to charitable causes with Tim at the helm than ever before!!. I disagree I believe Apple cares deeply about their employees. Monetary rewards to me do not correlate with genuine care and concern they only help to fuel the childish expectations and materialistic greed running so rampant in our society. I do not receive Christmas presents or bonuses at my work. The reward for me is the work itself. i also know my work is appreciated by the people who I serve. If you are working just for a paycheck you will never be happy no matter what you are doing.
