Anyone else find it odd, by the way, that a company whose motto seemed to be to "think different," which included an advertisement containing the likes of Albert Einstein and Bob Dylan is now releasing a product in a way that is entirely symmetrical with mainstream commercialism so prevelant these days? Overpriced designer fashion houses? Vogue magazine? Gold watches, iPhones, MacBooks? All symbols of the "elite."

What was the last computer company to advertise via fashion houses and magazines like Vogue? That certainly is thinking different.

Hell, Google & Co. have been in the playground for a while. Apple doubled that playground overnight. They most certainly are 'thinking different'.

I don't get any of it, except the continued chase of the almighty dollar.. Maybe.

And? That is what makes America great and one of the if not the greatest society the planet has ever seen. (spoken like someone who has been brainwashed by class-envy)

Future >10k Brick

April 25, 2018: Apple releases Watch OS 4.0. Requires Watch 2 and above (not supported on Watch 1).

You do understand that Apple Inc. is a business and that, as a business, their primary purpose is to make money... right?

Probably a millennial who has been brainwashed to think woe is me at other peoples success while take no initiative to cultivate any success of their own.

Not having kids is selfish? I think having kids and being too busy to spend time with them is selfish. I think he made the right choice. Not everyone wants kids. I don't have any kids. Never felt the urge to. Guess I'm selfish, lol.

He shouldn't complain about not having family then. That's my only point. I know alot of people who don't have kids for various reasons. One thing I don't hear them say is they wish they had a family. LOL.

Best looking :apple:Watch yet.
Simple design and with a price tag that says "free of charge".

I´ll take 2 :)

At least someone understood my joke :D

it wasnt a joke. you were ranting, complaining and suggesting their preferential treatment was at your expense. then rogifan owned you. and now youre pretending it was "just a joke, guys". thats not what a "rant" is. a rant is a complaint, usually delivered with emotion.

Just the gold used in the Modern Buckle band raises the price of the Apple Watch Edition from $10,000 (with Sport band) to $17,000...

Did anyone else read this and go WTH? That's the dumbest thing I've read on MR since finding this sight. There's approx. 1oz and 1.5oz of gold in the cases the 38mm and 42mm watches, respspectively. That buckle band might generously contain .5oz of gold. On the 42mm, that's approximately $2000 worth of gold; total. I completely understand the value of luxury gold items are not determined by gold content alone. But to say the gold used in the modern buckle raises the price by $7000 is ridiculous. It's a leather band with a small amount of gold. What exactly is one getting for the additional $7K?

As for Lagerfeld, a rich guy gets something for free that he could easily afford. In other news, humans need water to live.

I want.

If Apple does ever make a gold link bracelet, the watch + bracelet combo will probably be priced $30-$40k.

Poor Fella. With all those "Multi-Millions" why doesn't he adopt some kids and then he would have a family. And be giving a new life to kids who weren't wanted in the first place.

Must be too selfish or he'd have thought of that on his own.

He said his lifestyle was not fitting for raising a child. I would not call this selfish. It is better than having a child for the sake of having one and not having the time to take care of it.

Ha also doesnt have a husband so he would be a single parent. Growing up in a single-parent household with a father who is extremely old but also rich and busy all the time is not a healthy environment for a child I would say.

that is nothing

17k is because of Rose Gold, not Modern Buckle

If you look at the Edition prices again, you'll see the jump in price to 17k happens because of Rose Gold - not just the buckle (the grey modern buckle only comes with the rose gold model).

Given how nice the Apple engineering is, I could see a lot of people going for a very expensive ($50k+) gold link band for cheaper Watch models - because you could easily re-use the band across many iterations of watch.

I don't normally like link bands at all but I have to admit Apple's is not too bad... it actually does not pinch my arm hair unlike every other link band I have tried.

What I really want to see though, is a Rose Gold Milanese Loop... Now THAT would be something special.

I wonder what those "fashion" critics at Racked.com have to say. Oh wait, no one cares about racked.com.

That watch looks amazing. I so hope once the real gold exclusivity thing wears off, there is a (faux) gold colored watch in the line up in the SS price range.

Can you read minds now? I was being sarcastic, I'm pretty sure I know what my intention was over you.

Even if that was my intent, rogifan hardly "owned" me, he questioned my seriousness and belief that these one offs were slowing the manufacturing process of Apple Watches.

I was joking and at least one forum member understood I was doing so in my post. That is all.

Actually, it's an oxymoron but great companies don't focus on profits. They focus on bringing great value to their customers as efficiently as possible without compromising the value they bring. Companies eventually fail that don't operate this way.

I ordered the stainless steel with the stainless steel link band. Basically the same thing only not gold. I think I will like mine better. That is just to much bling for my taste.

No, companies fail because they don't generate revenue/profits or cannot attract private capital to sustain operations until projected/future revenue/profits can be obtained.

looks awesome

They're really jocking the fashionista crowd hard. I think Lagerfeld is a weird dude, but Apple has done their homework and they're probably pushing the right buttons, twisting the right crowns.

I'm disappointed in Apple for the way they are marketing "Watch" - Steve Jobs is definitely rolling in his grave. I don't want to know about the super rich receiving Free gold watches - Yes, I'm jealous - but then again, I'm much more handsome than Lagerfeld who needs gold to distract people away from his ugly.
Apple is much more than celebrities, and they never needed them before - Apple can deliver a product all on it's own unless there is something completely wrong with "Watch".
Dear Apple,
You need the billions of little people - the rich only make up less than 1% of the world's population and they only need one "Watch".
I'm sorry, but this is the first time Apple has struck me wrong.

Either short memory or you genuinely don't know: Apple have always ensured celebrities had their latest products. It's part of Apple's talent for ensuring their products are accepted into popular culture.
