Now all the teens will be wanting to buy the watch because some old half dead billionaire dude is wearing one.
Just do me a favour don't post a photo of Donatella. This guy is a fashion designer?! He looks like he got dressed in the dark.
This exemplifies exactly why I strongly dislike Apple's stainless steel band design. The shape and size of those links is VERY 70's to me. I don't like it in steel, and I dislike it even more in gold. I'd love to see a more segmented steel band, a la this Omega:

Good catch. That meltdown was epic, and not surprising.think again. it's being worn by an old white man. he'll have nothing to do with it.

I'm disappointed in Apple for the way they are marketing "Watch" - Steve Jobs is definitely rolling in his grave. I don't want to know about the super rich receiving Free gold watches - Yes, I'm jealous - but then again, I'm much more handsome than Lagerfeld who needs gold to distract people away from his ugly.
Apple is much more than celebrities, and they never needed them before - Apple can deliver a product all on it's own unless there is something completely wrong with "Watch".
Dear Apple,
You need the billions of little people - the rich only make up less than 1% of the world's population and they only need one "Watch".
I'm sorry, but this is the first time Apple has struck me wrong.
God, these are brutally ugly. Little utility, ugly, and expensive, sweet jeebus. How did these ever get made???? I just don't understand.
Ugh.
New product whose utility function is still up for significant debate.
The next new product Apple comes out with must be of the impact of the iPhone. After this announcement, and the release of a product that so many view as somewhat unnecessary, the pressure is on to deliver something that will appeal to the masses. Otherwise, Apple should be viewed as a company that is trying to manipulate loyal customers for the purpose of more profit.
The next one has to be a home run, because I have a feeling this one is not the next "thing." They will sell, at least in the beginning, because all Apple products do.. But sales will still be disappointing.
Anyone else find it odd, by the way, that a company whose motto seemed to be to "think different," which included an advertisement containing the likes of Albert Einstein and Bob Dylan is now releasing a product in a way that is entirely symmetrical with mainstream commercialism so prevelant these days? Overpriced designer fashion houses? Vogue magazine? Gold watches, iPhones, MacBooks? All symbols of the "elite."
I don't get any of it, except the continued chase of the almighty dollar.. Maybe.
Pretty cool that all these wealthy celebrities are being given expensive watches only they would be able to afford in the first place, I guess.
This guy is a fashion designer?! He looks like he got dressed in the dark.

And there's that too.No, you're right, the teens won't buy it because Lagerfled is wearing one. But they just might buy it if the sexy boys and girls in Chanel ( lagerfeld is still the artistic head of the company ) commercials are wearing one.
Some (if not many) people, especially those in the tech field or with tech interests, don't know much and/or don't care much about fashion, so it's not surprising. It's much like someone typical from the fashion world commenting on the technical specs and features of the device. The way he dresses has nothing to do with his job as a fashion designer. You might think that way but it isn't true. He designs for women's. He makes women beautiful. If you see the details of the dresses he sent down the runway, you will know why he's one of the most powerful fashion designers in the world.
The people in this forum needs to stop judging. Some of you sound like a housewife who has nothing to do but to bash people for no valid reason whatsoever. And what for? To see yourself worth a little more in your head?![]()
Watches are somewhat different products compared to computers, phones, music players, and similar devices. They existed long ago and were and still are just as much fashion accessories as they are functional devices for many. Marketing and sales need to be adjusted accordingly, which Apple certainly seems to be doing (and many others haven't really been).I have to admit Apple is really pushing on this product. More than any other device I've seen them sell over the past few decades.
The way they've got celebrities to wear this watch, invited all those fashion people to the launch and actually had them turn up, them doing one off pieces like this.
No one else has done this with their watches. Not Motorola, LG or Samsung. And it shows how Apple really thought it through. This product is not being marketed as a computerised watch. It's being sold more as fashion accessory like any other nicely designed watch.
It's incredibly savvy what they are doing and although I don't intend to purchase one I am really impressed by just how much of the fashion media they've sold on this product.
As if I needed another reason to not give a **** about this new watch...
You do understand that Apple Inc. is a business and that, as a business, their primary purpose is to make money... right?
You know there's two types of Apple users, some people buy an Apple product because it suits their needs. Some buy anything with the Apple sticker on it, go figure. But it still gave you the need to post on this thread![]()
So they give a watch away..... For free.
So they give a watch away..... For free.
Apparently giving away stuff to people who can more than afford it is the way to make money.
Now you know.
