Man I wish there was a (Product) RED version of the iPhone.

Been using one for almost a year now, love it. I still prefer this over the gold 5S. Wish it was official!

Why do only the red colours get the product red?? why not make everything apple (Red) not the colour but contribution??

while that sounds commendable and all, the whole product red thing seems somehow trendy rather than effective. i remember reading last year that pr spend 100 in advertising for every 20 it actually spends on aids prevention.

seems like there are better charities to get this work done than something that gives less than 20% to its end recipients...

But DAMN is that red sexy!

Its not effective. I had a red ipod at one point only 65 million since 2006 is embarrassingly low. Apple should just donate that per year.

There are already cures out there you know that right?

Umm. Last I did my research, there are a lot of cures out there. How is raising money going to fight against AIDS? That is so absurd. What is with the phrasing "fight against" - it isn't a fight it should be re-worded, raise money to cure, these cures take a lot of money and time so it needs to happen ASAP for so many who are suffering. A lot of AIDS patients I know, who are also personal friends, are not fighting for their lives, they are moving on with their lives and need the cure NOW.

We are a virus on planet earth and there is a fight out there to get rid of us, I don't see anyone raising money against that - hahahahahahaaa.

Hah, fight against AIDS, bah! There are cures, this bright red shiny fruit company should know that.

I wanna see stats of how it is helping patients directly, all this $$$, where is it?

When I hear businessmen speak eloquently about the "social responsibilities of business in a free-enterprise system," I am reminded of the wonderful line about the Frenchman who discovered at the age of 70 that he had been speaking prose all his life. ...

[snipped for brevity]

...and have said that in such a society, "there is one and only one social responsibility of business–to use it resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits so long as it stays within the rules of the game, which is to say, engages in open and free competition without deception or fraud."
People... this is how you should do a long quote! :D

I thought there were a lot of replies then I realized like 7 people just quoted MultiMediaWill

I was looking at the red 5S case though.

Interesting..

Speaking or (RED), every company has accepted to use a red logo except one

Well if you do enough research into some of these corporations, especially the soft-drink giant there, that they drain the blood of the places they steal drinking / farming water from, while charging the locals to drink their own water.

I'm always skeptical of corporations, justly so, they only do it to look good at the end of the day, I should know, I'm in the industry of looking / sounding good. It is all publicity.

sure, a lot of charities are doofuses with money.

Doesn't mean they all are.

Whether it comes from a charity, a university, a private company or the government, we'll probably eventually find an effective cure.

I like that.

If this has raised Apple's bottom line above where it would have otherwise been - IOW, if it was a profitable venture - Apple did the right thing.

If not, it is screwing the shareholders out of dividends. They, and not Apple, should decide where and how to give money away.

You cannot wrestle it to the ground and kill it because there is another and another and another and another and another, because the universe will constantly give you whatever is in your vibration. No exceptions you see.

You’ve got to change your vibration.

There is not a medical cure that can cure something that’s off in your vibration. There’s not a pill or a surgery that can keep you whole if you’ve got a vibration going on that is not allowing well-being.

Holy ***** that's hilarious.

Why do only the red colours get the product red?? why not make everything apple (Red) not the colour but contribution??

Strangely the colour red is a big part of the whole thing. I cant think why that might be.... Maybe the name is a clue?

You seriously want apple to give all the profits from every product to charity?

Does anyone know if the program supports infant circumcision in Africa? I want some RED products, but I wouldn't feel right buying them if they were mutilating unconsenting children's genitals with that money.

Adult circumcision I think is fine.
