Impossible. You mean that even though people who are developers and graphic designers are outnumbered 1000-1 in the market by people with other professions, and even though these devs and self-anointed "true pros" who have been on the cross for a week because of their slavish loyalty to Apple for X years, but not being catered to left them feeling emotionally betrayed didn't stop the vast majority of consumers and users from quietly buying and enjoying their new machines?

I guess all the complaining was just this:

Yes - I ordered it maxed out (15", i7-6920HQ, 2TB SSD, amd 460 graphics), it does not have a touch screen but for all other tasks it is more then powerful enough, it is beautiful, it is able to run MacOs X, Windows and Linux.

There are a plenty of adapters for the thunderbolt 3 port - we should not have any problem with that.

This MacBook Pro 15" is actually everything I wanted and expected (USB-C being the more the "expect" rather than "want") and I'm really excited for my order to arrive. Luckily I've used a 12" MacBook for the past few month, so the 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports are going to be an upgrade for me.

Apple fans are passionate is the talk track for disappointment amongst some? Geez

Yes, when you consider that the opposite of love is not hatred but indifference.

That people care about what they perceive to be a misstep by Apple, and care enough to flood the forums with hundreds of posts, that speaks volumes about the passion they feel for Apple (which has my admiration, even as I can't stand all the vitriol and acrimony being spewed).

The day Apple releases a controversial product and the forums are silent is the day Apple should be truly afraid.

It's not that it's a bad notebook. It's the price.

Apple can't help the slow down in processor improvements.

Apple can't help Intel's delayed chip releases.

But Apple can help what price they charge for their new MacBook Pros. It's just too much more money for not enough performance gain.

...
(Edited to add)

And it should come with a USB C to USB A converter and a USB C to lightning cable.

Apple are embracing the future with their USB C ports, but they should also embrace their customers who have other apple products they may wish to use with their new machine.

Their iPhones need a new cable. Their DVD/superdrives need a new connector too.

How can you interview him and not ask him about 1) the pricing 2) the need for a dongle to connect your iphone 3) desktops?

Yes, the interviewer should have asked more specifically.

I used to defend Apple with regards to overdue Mac Pro and Mac mini updates - this is no longer the case.

Reasons:

- Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C, HDMI 2.x and new Intel processor / graphic chip options are ready to be implemented as of late 2016.

- No updates for hundreds of days (both Mac Pro and Mac mini)

Either Apple updates all their desktops by early 2017 or I'm not convinced they are serious about desktops Macs at all - regardless of what Phil claims in interviews.

"We care about what they love and what they are worried about. And it's our job to help people through these changes."

BS. If you cared, you'd have left a couple of old USB ports so users could transition in their own time. Or, at the very least, included stoopid dongles.

Sounds more like damage control. Yes, these laptops have been so popular, but we're not gonna reveal the numbers. He might as well say whatever at this point. I'm pretty sure it's the opposite in reality. I find it hard to believe that at this price point these machine can be widely popular.

I am in the minority within the vocal detractors, but, I agree with his assessment of a MBP not having a touch screen. Having to interact by reaching up isn't natural, nor ergonomically comfortable in practice.

I think the advancement needs to happen in IOS to incorporate more of MacOS's core features and multi-tasking ability. The Mac could totally benefit having some more multitouch capability, and perhaps eventually replacing the keyboard with a full screen lower case half, for multitouch input.

But again, this is just my opinion.
