- Either all the complainers are new to Macs, or the Mac users have completely forgotten that Macs have always been very expensive.
- I can only think of 2 or 3 releases where Apple used an Intel chip launched in that same quarter. Every other time, Apple used a chip they judged to be reliable and sufficient rather than risk using an unknown newest chip.
- More multifunction multi-purpose ports = good. Fewer single-function single-use ports = bad.
- 95% of Pros are thinking the same thing that 95% of Pros always think when Apple releases a new product: "Cool, I'll see how this shakes out, but for now my 2012/2013/2014/2015 Macbook Pro works well."

Yes, the interviewer should have asked more specifically.

I used to defend Apple with regards to Mac Pro and Mac mini updates - this is no longer the case.

Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C, HDMI 2.x and new Intel processor / graphic chip options are ready to be implemented as of late 2016.

Either Apple updates all their desktops by early 2017 or I'm not convinced they are serious about desktops Macs at all - regardless of what Phil claims in interviews.

just a question: do you really believe, the interviewer asked questions, which he would like to ask? or was he just allowed to ask...

I think that more than ever, this will limit the converts from PC to Mac. Disgruntled users will leave mac, but PC users probably won't migrate over. And I can't blame them. I love Mac & the OS, and it's so integrated into my work that it's too big of a hassle to switch to windows (or hackintosh). But if I were a gamer, student, etc? It would be impossible to justify the price.

I wish I was more blown away by the specs, but I'm excited about the new machine. Most of the complaints, I don't really care about (I think we'll be fine with USB-C, I think touchscreen laptops are pointless, etc), but I do wish the specs were a bit better - I would have been very happy with the same laptop with 32gb ram.

People need Macs! Yes they're underpowered. They're lackluster but it's the best we got!

I don't accept on any level that they are lackluster. My MacBook Pro is probably the best computer I've owned. And I've done everything from spending $3,000 on one I spec'd to making one myself from parts.

As for power, I think anyone who says this doesn't really understand computers. You can't compare raw specs on a Mac to a PC. Because most PCs are running a horrifically inefficient OS that is optimized for stability and not speed.

It's a bit like saying a four cylinder engine will always be slow, even though Mercedes make one that has 355HP.

I am in the minority within the vocal detractors, but, I agree with his assessment of a MBP not having a touch screen. Having to interact by reaching up isn't natural, nor ergonomically comfortable in practice.

Friends who have touchscreen computers seem to rarely touch the screen, other than to show people it's a touchscreen...unless it's a Wacom Cintiq or similar.

just a question: do you really believe, the interviewer asked questions, which he would like to ask? or was he just allowed to ask...

Probably a little of both. This will likely be the first of several PR statements to diffuse anger over the MacBook release. But until we get evidence suggesting otherwise, no reason not to trust his numbers though.

I think the "blind sheep" may be the ones dismissing this new hardware as unimpressive and overpriced before they've even had a chance to see it.

In sure has nice specs but many companies moved to newer hardware and apple stay with previous one.

Phill Schiller needs to retire and leave Apple ASAP.

Of course there will be record sales, the other available macs are severely outdated, duh, no choice.

Phil is one of the few people at Apple that I think are great and feel like he keeps the vision of great user experience over anything. He does love spinning stuff but that's literally his job. At least he's passionate about this type of stuff.

So if they were available in stores right now no one would be buying them?

The point of the story isn't total 2016 MBP sales...it's ONLINE SALES that are being touted at record levels. The arguement is that is because people can't go in stores. He's not saying total sales are higher, just that online sales are higher. Total sales could very well be lower for this model since stores are not selling them.

They had more orders but I'm guessing they also had a lot of people, including myself, cancel those orders after coming to our senses...

According to this morning’s dashboard I'm allowed to confidently speak on behalf of 754,667,871 people on all tech matters. What is your current count?

4 years with minor tweaks, ofc there will be a influx on day 1. But I'll wait to hear the quaterly report of the total numbers before I belive it.

why? he is one of the last remaining "old guard" i actually have faith in. he's marketing, and does marketing well. he is not responsible for the tech/design debacle happening at apple...
