In 2016, a 15" model with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD should be $2500. I think the new model isn't so bad, but the price bump is what really got in everyone's crawl. The innovation that apple brought isn't what Pro customer would have chosen. Thin and light is nice, but just how thin and light does it need to be when it starts sacrificing specs?

Would most pro users rather have 32gb of ram with the same thinness as last year's? Or maybe 2-3 more hours of battery life? Or maybe some legacy ports that would remove the need for dongles?

Apple's priorities don't seem to be aligned with their customers. And with Phil constantly dismissing concerns with terms such as "passion" or "courage", some people are going to go elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure most ppl will be pleased if they retained rMBP thickness and gave us better GPU, BTO 64GB RAM, swappable RAM and SSDs, (TB USB-C is fine). Gave us those things and even the bump in price is justifiable, but with that they did, nope, more like they're lucky that MacOS is the only saving grace.

And 2 things I felt Apple missed the mark on these, TrueTone Display and ApplePencil support for those giant trackpads

I looked at developing iOS apps on a Windows PC (looking at Razer notebooks) but sadly the workaround doesn't make it worthwhile

I posted this on another thread, I'm going to repost here again :

You know what would be REALLY "courageous" ?

It's if Apple steps up and just says "Look guys, the pro market is too niche and small for us now, so no more MacPros or high-end pro versions of our macs from now on. Thank you for your understanding"

That way, pro users would :
- Stop waiting endlessly for such machines.
- Stop complaining.
- Start preparing their transition towards a full PC/Windows environment. because such transition is very difficult to manage for a lot of pro users, it's not like you just go buy a PC at the store and start doing your spreadheets on Excell just like before. There is lot of research to do to choose the right PC hardware, with the right drivers for all the audio/video peripherals, getting new licenses for their expensive software , etc..

This can take months for some to accomplish, so the sooner people are fixed on what to expect from Apple, the better.

Now THAT would be courageous and honest from Apple.

Schiller: “We love the Mac and are as committed to it, in both desktops and notebooks, as we ever have been.”

Keep the hope alive ;-)

in 2012 people complained a lot more than this...because they removed the optical drive and the ability to add ram and storage...people cried because their 5000$ music collection can't listen to their new macbook pros....and 1 year after...things come along and everybody loved the screen and the light compact design

I don't believe a word Schiller says these days. He has no credibility.

It's hardly surprising that it would receive more online orders, since it hasn't been updated for years, and online orders would have been much smaller then anyway. I strongly believe that the new MacBook Pro will be the worst selling version in the long run.

And the SD card slot is 'cumbersome'? Schiller, you are a complete idiot.

And again this confirms that the delusional complainer on MacRumors forums has not much to do with the reality. I'm looking forward to my new 2016 15" and hope that Apple keeps up their excellent work in the future.

P.S. I'd too be surprised if I put literally the fastest available CPU and GPU (within reasonable thermal design spec) into my new laptop and then an angry mob tells me that I 'don't care about performance' :D

Lots of blind sheep out there

Sounds like you got this all figured out.

So if business and customer loyalty is so easy, because of all the 'blind sheep' why are you not a billionaire businessman at this point?

If Apple can sell an overpriced, disappointing, terrible products, one after another, and your analysis is that the issue is 'blind sheep' then why don't you do it? Blind sheep will do anything, buy anything, no intelligent thought. You should be able to bilk them for billions if it is this easy.

Or maybe you completely oversimplifying the whole thing and just spouting?
