Seriously disheartened by the insensitivity and absolute inexperience in life of some people on this forum. My grandmother drove off a country road on a tight turn and rolled her car into a ditch and was there, upside down for way too long before a farmer happened to walk by and noticed the broken bushes and saw her car.

You're so inexperienced in life, cruel and (add adjectives here that would get me banned from the forum) that you're incapable of imaging the pain and suffering of someone unable to call for help because they're strapped into their seat or even unconscious. Nearly 4,000 people die in road accidents every day and if this saves the lives of even a small fraction of those lives, it's worth it. It could be you or a loved one, but it doesn't have to be for you to show empathy for those it does happen to.

Lately, evil people have shown way too much comfort in revealing who they are. Fortunately, they're a small minority and good people outnumber them. But you trolls really make sure to stand out.

I think you are overreacting. It's not that it's a bad feature or that it doesn't serve a good purpose.

It's just that it will benefit only a very small fraction of users.

Improving battery life with just a few minutes or improving overall connectivity will probably save way more lives.

You don't need an AirBag until you do. Only a "very small fraction of users" ever need it, but it saves lives. So it's worth implementing and even increasing the price of a car for everyone, to include it.

How are you folks so completely unaware of your callousness for human lives and your absolute selfishness? "Because it doesn't affect me" isn't a reason to not do something, or worse to complain that others care enough to do it.

I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people.

They did that too.

I'm all in for clever features and maximizing usefulness and safety for the end user. We all are?

Kudos to modern technology for how long we have come so far. But try to imagine how much manpower and resources were spent building and maintaining this feature. Then think about the situations, where it will actually be useful.

1. It has to be in a rural area, where other cars or people rarely come by, in most cases during the night.
2. It has to be in a situation where the driver is alone and unable to reach or use a phone.
3. It has to be in a situation where the driver is not already dead on impact or shortly thereafter AND the emergency response is not too slow in an already long range situation.
4. Someone actually need to send an ambulance from a silent call AND localize the car.

This is some of those features that seemed like a good idea, but ended up being a feature for the features sake, more than actually being a useful feature (for >99.99999% of users).
I hope it will help as many people as possible, but I have my doubts of its utility.

Stop judging other people's empathy by their opinion of a technical product.

Sadly, that's where we are now. Along with people becoming outraged at the drop of a hat for the tiniest of things, in order to be noticed and feel good. It's the new normal.

For many people it's just: me, me, me, and me. You see that lack of empathy in so many situations now. What's really disturbing is how so many are OK with letting the world know, as if they're bragging about their insensitivity. A badge of honor, now, it seems.

I think I will get the watch 8 just for that feature. It is more affordable than updating a whole phone.

Really, calling a 1/1.28 inch sensor with 48mp "pro" while even the photos in the presentation looked not that good and overly processed - it's kind of sad.

I don't think you understand how the "Pro" label is used by Apple.

It doesn't mean an iPhone 14 Pro is designed for use by professionals such as film directors/cinematographers/camera operators/etc who are involved in commercial movie-making.

It's simply a features (and thus pricing) tier. Nothing more. Period. End of story. Yet this comes up over and over and over, year after year after year. For some reason people refuse to learn and accept that.

As someone else pointed out earlier today, do you really believe Apple's Power Beats Pro earbuds are designed for professional sound engineers and producers who create music and movie soundtracks? Maybe you do believe that, even though it is not true.

Oh people understand, it is simply a shady marketing scam. Some Apple diehards have refused to accept that but there you go...

Intelligent people know and understand it's a way many companies tier products.

I'm sorry that you find it confusing and believe the word "Pro" in iPhone 14 Pro means it's tailored for commercial movie cinematographers.

Again...it isn't. It's a features tier. End of story. Hope you come to understand that someday and find peace.
