And you will be able to fix this car using only Apple parts. When installed other wheels you will get disabled acceleration in most of them until you replace them with the original parts
To all of you who think that Apple will pull this off I say the following truth - there is absolutely NO way Apple are going to make a success of this.
I am all too aware of Apple's history of innovation and doing what others said could not be done, however that time has gone and passed because Steve Jobs is no longer with us sadly.
Tim Cook is a money guy and is 100% useless at products and innovation unlike Steve who was in many ways ahead of his time.
Apple have been at this car thing for over 10 years now and still have nothing to show for it, they apparently do not even have a design hence this hire.
Here are a few problems that show me why Apple will fail and indeed have already failed.
1) Apple have constantly changed what the project is wishing to accomplish which is bad because it means that will constantly change focus and shift efforts to and fro.
2) Apple have constantly changed the project head which results in too many changes of direction and focus not to mention losing ground as the new head has to be bought up to speed. Apple even bought Bob Mansfield out of retirement to head the project up only to then retire...again!
3) Apple have routinely hired and fired and hired the entire team of engineer, often the same engineers getting rehired after being fired. This is bad because it means the project loses ground, momentum and progress.
4) Apple are being far too secret about this which only serves to hurt them because a car is not a phone/tablet etc. A phone or tablet etc can be kept secret and then shown to the world to the gasps and oohs of us all. However a car is designed, tested and built differently so Apple should take a leaf out of Tesla's book. They should have doubled down in their efforts and had a design by now which they show off to the world and then spend a year or two figuring out the specs and testing the various stages of prototype etc. This would ensure that Apple would frequently be in the news with the car and thus give them free PR, it also removes the headache of trying to keep something secret that we all pretty much know about. It will be typical Tim Cook arrogance to finally show off the Apple car (20 years from now lol) and expect us all to oooh and arrrh!
5) Apple need the car to be built and this is the hardest part because as I say it is not a phone or tablet etc. Apple only
have a few options here which are:
a) Build the car themselves - that requires them to build something for the first time rather than outsource building to other firms like Foxconn. This will be a major headache for Apple on top of the headache ongoing through production hell (ask Tesla).
b) Outsource production to a car maker - this is deeply problematic because they need all the parts and batteries for their own EVs as they are way behind where they need to be in order to stave off bankruptcy down the line.
c) Outsource production to FoxConn etc - this is also deeply problematic because FoxConn have no experience in making cars/EVs and will take time and effort especially as they go through the many stages of hell including production hell. Foxconn can achieve this but it will be costly and take a lot longer than Apple think it will.
6) Apple have Tesla to contend with who are like Apple were under Steve Jobs and that makes them dangerous to group against.
Apple could have a chance without Tesla but Tesla are leading the way and getting the limelight in a way that will overshadow Apple if or when they finally release the Apple Car. Yes yes yes I am sure that the media will cover it for a day or two but then will be relegated to the back pages as Tesla continue to forge ahead and increase their lead over the so called competition.
Apple are not used to being second fiddle only in this case they will not be in the top 10 once you count in the Chinese EV makers who are ahead of Apple oh and also Lucid and Rivian etc. Apple will be lucky to make it to the top 20 to be frank. Their only hope is to offer a small niche market experience, maybe be the Ferrari etc of the EV world offering high expensive luxurious EVs where they only sell a small mount each year because I am sorry Tim but your dreams of the Apple car dominating the EV world burst the moment you apparently refused to buy Tesla and told Elon to go **** himself!
Umm design an EV with Jaguar, a company that knows what a performance car is.My unrealistic wish: buy porsche from volkswagen, keep the car team and bring sanity to their HMI. Unlike BMW, porsche is weak with their car infotainment and displays but they bring excellent vehicle engineering. Would be good synergy. That gives them the excellent taycan models of EVs of course.

Ever since the first smartphone, companies (Apple incl.) have been looking for ‘the next big thing’. Is it possible to bring something that would create the same sort of buzz and disruption, but then for the infinitely larger market of personal mobility? I think so...Is that what we really want? For Apple to build a sports car? That pretty much guarantees that it would be a niche product that would appeal to very few people. I know that we expect Apple to charge a premium and TVs typically have better performance than ICEVs but specifically targeting the high end sports car market seems unwise.
When it comes to cars wait until they have been on the road for 5-10 years. Rushing a 4000 pound missile on wheels and likely no driver is a bad idea. Not to mention sitting on a rushed 1000 pound highly volatile battery pack is not appealing either.Meanwhile my Ineos Grenadier was designed in like a year and won’t drain the power grid.
