Hypocrisy is acceptable depending on the level of impact... I guess I can accept that no one really cares. ;)

Tom.
No 'hypocrisy' here (at least I try not to be). Recognition and acceptance? Yes.
My personal and country's history is full of things I would rather forget so that I can criticise without argument. Instead I accept, remember and am sad for our past disgraces, hold them up for all to see and just hope (dangerous word) that at sometime they will bring about a positive change.
Extremely unlikely. No, not hypocritical - just critical and as honest as I can be.

Now you guys have got me suffering through another day without being able to get "We are the Champions ... of the World" out of my mind. At least that is a great improvement over "YMCA". 🤠 Feel free to sing along ... 🤣

Tom

I don't see why that would be relevant in any way here though.
Mostly because the American right wing has absolutely no idea what communism is and thinks anything that doesn't agree with them is the worst of communism, so the OP is basically saying King would agree with Trump because any other positions than his are evil communism.

It takes a bit to wrap your brain around the stupidity there

Young man, there's no need to feel down, I said
Young man, pick yourself off the ground, I said
Young man, 'cause you're in a new town
... :)

Tom
You’re not really helping your case here man, gloating about your type of ignorance being in charge doesnt make you look smart. You’re welcome to try explaining to the class why you still think MLK’s quote on communism is relevant though

Ask Trump or Cook: being in charge, like it or not, makes you the leader. Followers, if they don't like the situation,, should at least try to have a sense of humor. No need to feel down....:)

MLK was a man of God, and the post was relevant, and in response to a post listing quotes concerning what he saw as societal "evil" that did not include Communism.

Which question may I try to answer for you? Perhaps you didn't see my edit on #110.

I do apologize for my part in the thread drift from honoring MLK to discussing President Trump or Tim Cook. In my defense I attempted to point out VERY early on that the President has no option in choosing the day of his Inaugeration. Sorry.

I guess honesty can quieten the storm afterall.

That is completely irrelevant retort that has no bearing on the discussion. It’s a defense of nothing and absolves you of nothing. Get used to it.

OK, alrighty then, I guess there is no middle ground with you. Back with a relevant retort. MLK, if he were alive today, would most likely have been on stage celebratlng and praying with President Trump, Paster Sewell, Mr Musk, and Mr Cook.. We will never know, but time and people move on...We are the Champions... of the World. Get used to it . 🥳 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇲 🤣

And like it or not, the rest of the world has opinions about you. Deal with it.

Buuuuuuuuut, why don't we dive into your claims for fun.

"When there's a disaster somewhere in the world, who's the FIRST country the world looks to for aid?"

I'm not sure you can quantify that anyone looks to the US FIRST for money, but I'll give that the US gives more than any other nation. But if you look at the details, and in comparison to other countries, as far as national income is concerned, the US gives less than other nations. Canada, the sovereign nation you're currently talking about invading – where I'm from, where we have no intention of joining you – gives much more of what it has than you do. So sure, you get a pat on the back for giving the most, but you could be doing more, as others have demonstrated. Plus, we've seen in the past, especially under this "leadership" what happens to aid that's already been promised to others, and approved by congress. So, US aid can't really be counted on anymore.

"When the UN/Nato etc need to send "peacekeepers" in to restore order/safety which country is the one the world looks to FIRST to put its soldiers on the line?"

I couldn't tell you the specific country, but I can tell you Africa and Asia. That's where the vast majority of UN peacekeepers come from.

Like it or not, America is certainly something, but believe me when I tell you that outside of your bubble that's carefully curated for you by billionaires, the rest of us are laughing. We don't see you as leaders. We see you as toddlers that would purposefully eat crap just to make the rest of us smell your breath. That's who you are to us now.
As I've said for the third time now, the rest of the world can have their opinions.

Those opinions however, mean ******** to me.

In just over 200 years The Asylum has been at war somewhere on this poor planet. So. Is it not right that your statement about taking up its role as a responsible nation just feels correct.
With great power etc etc etc...
Such a great area of the world is populated by the greedy, insane, violent and stupid.
They had lots of role models and chose the worst of all to follow. Very sad.

That’s exactly what it means: “to paraphrase Dionne Warwick, “what the world needs now is ???? Sweet ????”. You can fill in the blanks.
What’s wrong with the word “love”? Does it have to be translated as **** or ????

Again, what you think of my country is of no concern to me
