YaY! Can't wait to see what happens to iWeb.

1,000 post. Go me!

Not much :( The media browser is integrated into the window now tho, which is cool. I was really hoping for some nice effects like the ones on apples site where it pops out.

iPhoto is running the Faces thing now... says about 67 minutes for 4000 photos. Seems to be picking up a lot of faces, even smaller ones in the background or blurry ones.

right, it's detecting faces, as does Live Gallery and Picasa, so that's nothing new. Now , if it can correctly identify who the faces belong to, then it's a different story.

Very impressed so far. Selected a picture of my wife and iPhoto found a ton of pictures that she's in.

One thing I did notice, the scroll bars of iPhoto seem to be different to the ones in iTunes. not sure what they were like in '08, as I've upgraded.

Do either Picasa or Live Gallery detect faces without having to first upload your photos online? I looked thru the Mac version of Picasa and couldn't find that option. All of the documentation seemed to direct me towards Picasa Galleries (online).

I have 14,000+ photos. Having to upload them to get face detection isn't even an option.

Detecting faces since 1:20PM EST

iPhoto '09 has been detecting faces since 1:20PM today. At first it said 190 minutes remaining. After over three hours, it says 95 minutes remaining. I have almost 13,000 photos in my library.

Your mileage may vary.

Microtard out.

WE HAVE iLIFE

I work at an apple resale store and we received iLife in this morning's shipment.

So check your local reseller

I am not too sure about Picasa, but I know Live Gallery app will detect your faces and you just confirm who it is in the picture, you don't have to upload or anything..That's just on the pc though, and it doesn't recognize or group the faces until you tag each face.

So the potential for iPhoto's facial recognition is a lot greater so far.

Here's the iPhoto '08 scroll bar (with the window active and inactive).

My order (ordered on Jan 6, 2009 at 04:45 PM PST) still says that it ships Feb 2, arrive Feb 3. It has changed to show "Prepared for Shipment."

One of the 5 BB stores in my area said it has it in stock. Placed the order for pickup and said I should receive an email within 45 minutes. Let's see if that comes.

I do like the new scroll bars. I hope this is how all of the scroll bars will look like.

Corporate Discounts

Just a quick question. If I work for a company where we get a corporate discount such that instead of $79, the software usually comes out to like $65, will BB honor those discounts or is it just Apple Stores and online?

Hey macrumors used my thread :). Awesome now I am kinda famous. Got my copy right now. :)

Aging

I'm really wondering how well the facial recognition works in young children. I have a 3 1/2 and 5 1/2 year old and have pictures from the days each were born. I'd be really amazed if I could tag a baby pic and it could track them to the age they are now!

Ordered on BB.com for store pick up, received confirmation, drove out there and they wouldn't give it to me  The closest Best Buy is a suburb over!

All that driving for nothing.

We have an 8 month old in the family. I have pictures from birth till now. I picked one of the more recent ones and iPhoto gave me a bunch of other babies (and people with Chubby faces). I think the more photos of that person you have and the more you tag, the better the recognition will get.

To me it looks the same as iLife '08 when it is inactive. Does the scroll bar keep that look when the window is active?

It looks slightly more "silvery" to me than the inactive one, which would be annoying if it's that similar for active/inactive windows. I agree we could be looking at the new Snow Leopard scroll bars.

I feel your pain. My local Best Buy did the same thing to me. :(

can't say for the mac version, but the pc version of picasa seems to do it without uploading. I just click on the "people" filter button and it shows me pictures with people. Which tells me it might have figured it out as I imported the images. I only use it locally, no web albums.

I would have been ripped if they did that to me. After all it's the store that has to confirm "availability," before a pickup notice is send. Did you talk to the manager? At the very least he should have given you a coupon or something to make up for your lost time/gas.
