Do whatever you want. I was just suggesting an alternative.
I understand, i was just pointing out that they aren't really comparable feature-wise.

An even better reason to pick some up.

Personally I would never ever ever buy earbuds from apple for $80. If you ARE going to spend that much, I would much rather pick up a set of professional Shures which are pretty much top of the line.

Your title is misleading. It should read that they're in some Apple retail stores.
I can tell you they're not at Irvine Spectrum - Irvine, CA, Mission Viejo Mall - Mission Viejo, CA, Costa Mesa, CA, Southpoint Mall - Durham, NC, or Crabtree Mall Raleigh NC.
Why would I know this? I've called them all in the last hour and they've all said they're not in stock.
Do you have experience with other in-ear phones? How do they compare to the models you've owned previously?
Quite a few of us would like these just for the convenience of being able to answer a phone call when we are listening to music at a desk, etc, without having to unplug from the iphone first.
I would have to agree that if the remote function is what you're after, then the Apple ones are probably a good deal.
Personally I much prefer great sounding earphones. I do a fair bit of research into binaural beat music and Autism and just had the privilege to receive a demo set of Shure SE310s.. Altho I haven't had the time to really test it with the Binaural stuff, I can honestly say that these are by far the best set of earphones I've ever had a play with.
If I had to purchase a new set of earphones, I wouldn't hesitate to fork out that kind of money. They are so well worth it. The fit is incredibly comfortable and with the foam tips, they block out 95% of outside noise.
I personally wouldn't go near the Apple ones. The remote would be a nice touch, but its not even worth it for the sound these puppies put out. With the standard ones and even the new Apple one, I can put the volume down by about half and still get amazing sound.
Anyway, just my two cents worth.
If you look around you can pick up a pair of Shure SE-210's for about the same price as these Apple's.

i am not sure what the joke was - pls enlighten...
it was a pun...let me put it this way..
you said "if you look around you will notice that one is an apple and the other is an orange..."
this could be read as "if you look around you will notice that one is anand the other is an orange..."
...wakka wakka...
Ditto, but for an iPhone 3G. I'm dying to get a straight answer!
I say firmware update will bring this capability it would be silly for them not to add the ability... wouldn't you say?
I'm sure a firmware update would let you use the volume control to adjust the sound using the headphones.
I wonder if these would actually work with the iPod touch 2G. I know they can work with the iPhone
