Apple generally asks for 24/96 already and has been for a while (since mastered for iTunes launched - they encode tracks themselves into AAC). Had they got the licenses, they could switch everything over to MQS.
If they buy Tidal, the licenses Tidal had negotiated with labels are likely to expire (like Beats' did when Apple bought them) and new licenses will have to be negotiated for lossless (as Apple already has a license for lossy streaming). Oh well - maybe Apple just wants a better footprint in Poland and Norway, which drive Tidal's business in Europe through telco bundles.

Also - Qobuz went bankrupt and their assets got sold last December. Qobuz has a good interface, deeper editorial and HD focus than Tidal - and it caters to fans of HD remasters and Jazz/Classics, who are the core of the audiophile audience. Apple could have bagged said assets for a couple million bucks - easily. Qobuz even lets you stream your 24 bit purchases downloads from their cloud straight onto a wide variety of amps.
 
I would highly doubt that Apple would retain the lossless audio of Tidal. Lossless audio is largely a niche market and Apple isn't a niche company. They just want Beyoncé and Kanye exclusives to kill Spotify.

Is there any harm to offering it though? Simply offer lossless audio as another option in Apple Music and apart from hosting costs, and what does it matter even if only a few people use said feature?

It might even help sell a few extra pairs of high end lightning headphones!
 
How good is the quality of tidal service? does it really sound better? anyone with experience using it?
 
So what will be the hardware improvements that Apple may offer in the next batch of products to enable a 'better' audio quality experience?
Having stereo speakers in the iPhone seems like a reasonable move, what about Bluetooth? earphone headphones? Beats stuff?

If apple wanted lossless m, they could have used apple lossless for streaming. In fact, they did not even need to buy beats. This would have never happened if Steve jobs was here.

IMO American music overall is garbage. Russian music is 10 times better with actual lyrics IMO.
Even the beats are better to me.

All we have now are RA RA RA RA Rihanna crap.

Being an old git, I don't care if I have to wait for an album to come out on my streaming service, and Apple's roster of exclusives is of little interest to me. I've tried Apple Music, but have stayed with Spotify. Usually I extol Apple hardware and software, but their services are a different thing. I still don't get iCloud fully, Apple Music is still messy, and iTunes has been a right dogs dinner for too long… And breathe. :)

Good $deity, when will this silliness stop - this has a lot more to do with friends buying out friends to make millions than building a better service. Cook and co have lost it.
