Seriously $330 bucks for my iPhone 12 Pro, to upgrade? why... double it and I may think about it, otherwise why change a good working iphone, the differences to an iPhone 14 is not really that great enough to do so

Geez when I preordered the 14 Pro Max, Apple was offering me $530 to trade in my 12PM.
I was willing to accept that because used prices on marketplace or craigs wasn’t that much more at the time and I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of selling it. I ended up cancelling the 14PM order because someone within UPS kept stealing it.

Not looking forward to see what Apple will offer me this year for my 12PM.
I’ll probably just end up keeping it when I upgrade to the 15PM.

Apple charges as little as $669 for a certified refurbished iPhone 12 Pro with new battery, new outer shell, other new parts (if necessary), same-as-new 1 year warranty, etc. I don't think $660 (double $330) is realistic.

🤔 I don’t want to say demolishing returns, but it’s seeming more of the case with new tech for consumers. The modest upgrades, iPhone and iPads already being so fast with good screens, and camera, [not to mention the economy] I think consumers are like 🤷‍♂️

I've never sold anything privately. Is it a hassle?

🤔
It can be, but you will almost certainly get more for your current apple devices. If you live in a city there are ways to sell your stuff easily. If you live in a small town / rural area ebay might be your best option, but it'll cost you 15-20% in ebay fees.

No. A fully maxed out 2021 MB Pro with AppleCare in perfect condition might get one only $720 if they decide to trade in their device with Apple. It’s fairly universally understood that anyone that wants more money wouldn’t be going through Apple in the first place.

Unless they have nullumaluphobia, in which case they’re forced to use the service emblazoned with the Apple logo.
It's fairly universally understood that I was referring to Apple's trade-in prices, as this is a thread about Apple's trade-in prices.

But sure, go ahead and be that person. ;)

Though this should be good news, all it does is demonstrate a lack of integrity. If Apple was serious about their environmental credentials, they would be doing more to entice users to trade-in.

They (Apple) no doubt fell the pressure lately surrounding the concern of trade-in values, and have responded to that rather than providing a fair price in the first place. And this is still worser value than the previous price changes.
Exactly. The 12 Pro value is absolutely atrocious.

I wonder what my iPhone 12 Pro Max will be worth this Fall if I trade it in for a 15 Pro Max or Ultra or whatever?

By then I will have had 3 years with this phone... so if I could get around $400 I'll take it.

Yes, it can be a hassle. I attempted to sell my mint 12 Pro this last fall on OfferUp and all I got was low-ball offers. Apple was going to give me $430 for it. The highest someone was willing to give me was $375. LOL.

While I understand the business purposes to keep prices low, their trade in values are laughably low.

They wanted $400 for my M1 MacBook Pro. I sold it on Facebook Market place for $2000.

I mean, they’re not even trying, imo.

As far as I know, this third party that works through Apple; Apple has no say in the pricing.

They should just get rid of the trade in program. It serves no purpose except to take advantage of people who are ignorant to market pricing and may proceed forward with the insultingly low offers. The whole premise of the program is to trick people for a quick buck.

There are plenty of third party services that offer a fair market value, make trade-ins just as easy, and pay cash instead of Apple credit:
SellYourMac.com
CashForYourMac.com
Gazelle.com

Gazelle offered me $460 for an iPhone 12 Pro Max versus the $420 from Apple.

So not really much difference. Plus I can do it in-person at an Apple Store.

You're right about getting cash from these companies instead of credit from Apple. But if I'm trading in my current phone... I'm gonna use that cash to immediately buy a new phone anyway.

Question for all: if someone trades in an iPhone in an Apple Store... do they deduct the trade-in value on a new phone right there on the spot?

Or do you still have to buy the phone in-store at full price... and get a gift card in the mail for the trade?

One reason I'd consider trading in with Apple is if this would all happen immediately... versus dealing with two different companies and waiting for a check to come or whatever.

OK OK here’s the problem, my sister girl had her 13 Promax stolen phone stolen and then it was hacked and now it’s completely unfindable. The problem is the trade-ins is stolen phones or stolen devices. There is such a Terrible time of life where of stealing going on in the United States. Where a lot of the stolen devices are going back into circulation. being sold from third-party sellers etc. I can see where apples coming from when they were trying to reduce the value of the phone based upon the people stealing phones and other devices

I’m going to trade-in my max’d 13” M1 MBP for a max’d 13” M2 MBP. With a gift card from a previous trade-in, it’s well under a thousand bucks. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t get it until the 20th (doing a store pickup).

Sometimes you want a quick and easy way to off load your device and not deal with selling to a random third party. And find Gazelle to normally be in the same range as Apple.
