Judging from your sig, you seem to actually not use any Macs anymore? And just a used iPhone?
My employer provided me with a 2018 MBP and a 2022 M1 MBP.
I mostly like the M1... although it's sad that Apple simply abandoned the Touch Bar and reverted to the old function keys. The Touch Bar was definitely halfbaked... but I liked how customizable the right side of it was. It's disappointing that the function keys have so little customizability in contrast. And whatever customization you apply, you'll have to memorize, because the stock functions are all statically printed onto the keys.
Would I buy a Mac for myself? IDK. At some point I'm going to need to get a new personal laptop (I have a 2016 Dell right now, employer provided that they let me keep for myself for free after the warranty period ended). For how much they charge, Dells are garbage. As is every other laptop brand I'm aware of.
The Apple M-series of laptops seem intriguing...
But... IDK. I'd really like some kind of "build your own laptop" kind of thing, where it's just a nice screen, keyboard, and trackpad, and you buy RAM, CPU, GPU, storage, battery, and charger separately and they all slot in. Kind of like the Raspberry Pi where the power supply, storage, display, etc are all sold separately and all you actually get is the CPU and RAM on a small motherboard with a bunch of ports + Raspian OS.
