Status been on "diagnosing" till yesterday when it changed to "return pending" (still saying that now)

That's pretty good - precisely a week for yours from arrival at the repair centre to your doorstep if I'm not mistaken?

You got back the same phone or a refurb?

I took mine to the apple store last Wednesday (May 7). I verified the status today and it showed that it shipped yesterday; the tracking indicates it was delivered today to my apple store. Now to find out if I get a new phone or the same one.

I should have had it earlier but it required a signature and FedEx didn't want to leave it at my apartment office in which they normally do. No worries, I got a call earlier when they tried to leave it after I requested it being left at a FedEx Office store, they said I can pick it up today at the FedEx location when the driver gets back. we'll see what I got back if it was fixed or a refurb.

Got mine back today, same phone. The work order showed 4 battery replacements and then the charge for the repair, which was zeroed out. The girl at the Apple Store said they're all coming back like that and she didn't know what it meant. She was, however, rude and seemed a bit clueless. My email back about it had the same exact info as post 398 - https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/19084594/

iBackupBot shows:
CycleCount: 0
DesignCapacity: 1430
FullChargeCapacity: 1392
Status: Success

I didn't check before I dropped it off to know what it was at!

The button works, and unlike my flipping loaner, the phone doesn't go to screen of death and reboot 30 times a day for hours (I am not exaggerating!)

I got mine and went to att to get a new sim. After activating the new SIM card, I've been stuck on 4G? On the phone with Apple, we'll see what happens?

BTW, it's my old iPhone 5. No new volume buttons though they were working fine. Haven't check the battery yet? Seems like the messed with my cellular antennas being I'm stuck on 4G or a bad SIM from att?

light bulb went off. AT&T still had me under the iPhone 4 reason why I only got 4G service.

I'm going crazy. Just called in to 'Easy-M' a local reseller to check up on the iphone repair from saturday the 3th.

Seems like it passed the diagnostic (no surprise there.. )
And that the just sent it to Apple for repairs.

They were also informed that it would take longer for Apple to process all the repairs as all the iphones came in at the same time..

Funny that, when Apple announced the dates the program would be starting, eh? :p

Surely Apple know roughly how many iPhone 5's were affected by this issue, and that demand to take up the program would therefore be high to begin with?

The demand for new Apple products is also high to begin with, but you don't see Apple always having things in stock ;)

That's pure marketing, has nothing to do with repairs.
Principle of the matter is similar. It would probably cost Apple more to provide excess repair capacity at the beginning and then scale down, even if we may think it is a reasonable approach to take. For in-store drop-offs, chances are that more people would do so at the weekend, so Apple can distribute the repairs throughout the week once they are received at the repair centre. Apple are not legally obligated to repair an item within a few working days, so it takes as long as it takes.

It's been 16 days for me... I checked this morning and it was still "Repair in Progress". I checked again a few minutes ago and it now says "Repair Cancelled".

Get on the case to them. Surely it can't mean you're not eligible because they wouldn't have started repair. Maybe they found some form of damage preventing them? But even so, 16 days is a hell of a long time to discover that so I'm doubting it is that.

Seriously get on the phone to them before or AppleCare chat before they initiate a return of the product, you won't have to pay for either and they're pretty good.

Mine now says return pending. 6 days on repair stage, so pretty good. I've just been inpatient!

Collected my repaired iPhone today from an Apple store. What was not told to me when I was dropping it off is that they will remove the screen protector as part of the work that they carry out. However, they agreed to put a new one on free of charge. The itemised list of repairs had battery on every line, but no detailed description. I don't think that they replaced the battery 4-5 times :D I don't really care either, since the sleep/wake button is working properly now.

On my applecare work order, it stated it repaired the items listed below but it didn't list any items? Is there a way we can find out online what was done?

Not as far as I'm aware, but I'd love to be wrong on that.

So apparently they broke my screen during the repair and just had to get me a new phone. Took longer than I expected but I guess I can't complain... The button works great now! :)

Did you get a brand new one or a refurbished one?

Hope I do not experience this problem. Is there a web site to check serial numbers of iPhone 5 effected? My cellphone is jailbroken and this repair would loose the jailbreak for me.

You can enter your serial number here to find out if you're eligble. Your phone must be experiencing the issue though, you can't just send it in to avoid it cropping up sometime in the future.
