Does not matter. I am not going to throw away my perfectly fine running M1 Mac for current vaporware and future Gemini wrapper. It would be hilarious if M1 Macs lost support before M1 iPads 🤣
If the criteria for AI is RAM then the chart would show RAM and not the CPU since there are certainly 32/64GB M1 MacBooks.Who says it's an error? The M1 Macs were the last ones with 8GB RAM standard. Maybe on Mac it will need 16GB RAM, compared to iPad where they all have 8GB RAM except the higher end Pro's.
I blame the calculator. If this is true then good. I don't care nor wish to have this satanic AI crap on any of my devices. AI is making people more stupid and lazy. People need to learn to use their brains instead of depending on AI.
While it would definitely ruffle some feathers, Apple’s customer base is only growing. It’s a unique phenomenon.Thank god it's a mistake, with the whole Apple Intelligence launch delays and controversies. Apple needs all the goodwill it can get with it's customers.
Intentionally choosing to drop M1 support (even if further testing found it had to be done) would destroy any goodwill they had left with their customers.
Religious people are hilarious. Religious and people stuck in time are even more hilarious. People always said these things about new tech, computers, the internet, etc. There's a lot of AI junk and scammers who use new tech to scam people, just like there were many shady and crap websites at the beginning of the internet. AI is here to stay and in a decade all the AI slop and AI gimmicks will be gone and AI will be used as a professional tool in many businesses. If this is true then good. I don't care nor wish to have this satanic AI crap on any of my devices. AI is making people more stupid and lazy. People need to learn to use their brains instead of depending on AI.
(quietly) I won’t mind too much…Wait till Apple drops AI from the iPhone 15 Pro Max devices.![]()
Wrong, it started with the M3 and then they re-released the M2's late in the game with 16GB standard. Right now at Best Buy the M2 MacBook Air with 16GB Ram is $700.Base model Macs didn't come with 16GB RAM until the M4 line.....
dont worry, 30 years ago this chap would have been saying the exact same thing about spell checkers.
So the M3 Macs started the 16gb Standard but they also re-released the M2 Macs with 16GB RAM standard. And as far as iPads go, they all have 8GB Ram except the higher end Pro's but again iPadOS is a mobile OS and is optimized to use less. My point is maybe M1's were cut due to the 8GB Ram limitation. Maybe that can't cut specific models so they just cut the whole line. And 8GB M2's will run it but very bad? iPads are a different story because it's a mobile OS still based on iOS...Because there was no M2 iMac as the list says, it went from M1 straight to M3.
Also, the list still mentions the M1 iPads so it looks like it does run on M1 in general. And if it needs "16 GB RAM on Macs" as you said, my M1 MacBook Air has 16 GB so it wouldn't say "M2 or higher" because there still are M1 models eligible even for that criteria.
Actually, I expect the next major cut for AI features to be the M4, and for some of the most demanding upcoming AI features, the M5 given how big of an advantage it has with the GPU neural accelerators.By the time Apple Intelligence actually gets released fully, M5 will not be enough
The 8GB limit was the only thing I could think of, yes there are M2 Macs with 8gb RAM but they were re-released with 16GB standard when M3 introduced the new RAM standard. And iPads all have 8GB RAM except higher Pro models. But again iPadOS is a mobile OS and maybe can use less resources. If the criteria for AI is RAM then the chart would show RAM and not the CPU since there are certainly 32/64GB M1 MacBooks.
Except that many M1 Macs came with more RAM. If its a ram issue, then outline that. Instead they're killing off an entire generation of devices for no clear reason.Who says it's an error? The M1 Macs were the last ones with 8GB RAM standard. Maybe on Mac it will need 16GB RAM, compared to iPad where they all have 8GB RAM except the higher end Pro's.

I’m pretty sure it’s a typo. There’s no way they’re cutting M1 Max models which didn’t come with 8 GB RAM, but keeping the M2 Air.My point is maybe M1's were cut due to the 8GB Ram limitation. Maybe that can't cut specific models so they just cut the whole line.
