That's OK Apple, I won't criticize people who love animoji, but please release a 14-inch rMB, as that's the only product I'd buy this year (and top-configured, because I've been saving money for a new MB for years now)

All the good looking, less talented hollywood actors and actresses are going to be replaced with good looking emoji tech along with more talented and cheaper actors....

Will access to this tech be enabled for third party developers?

It would be cool if it did something remotely useful.

They showed an updated version of Snapchat taking advantage of the live face mapping, so I'd think so?

I'm calling it now: "New animojis!" will be to Apple software what "New watch bands!" is to Apple hardware.

I was thinking iPod Socks, but you may be right?

I really want the X model, but I don't think I will ever be using this feature.

Can someone tell me the distinct features missing from 8 Plus and X models?
Screen and emoji thingy aside? 200$ must get something more right?

The 8 Plus's telephoto camera module lacks OIS like the 7 Plus's. As a camera enthusiast that's a dealbreaker for me but not for the masses.

That's the only difference I know of, but hopefully we'll find more. The X's availability is rumored to be quite limited which is good for Apple because I think the Face ID will flop. I suspect availability is limited not due to supply constraints but because Apple are unsure of sales.

I could be wrong but the main differences between the 8 and X are:

OLED display
Dual camera/portrait mode in an iPhone size you don't need a fanny pack to carry
Stabilization for dual cameras
Portrait mode via front facing camera for better selfies

I think that's all?

I'm sure others will point out anything I've missed.

I swear I had heard about gold models, and some free subscription or AppleCare bundle and now I cant find them!
I'm hoping there would be something more, cause am sure it's going to be a great device but 200$ hike doesn't feel right..

Even though I know I'll probably wait to see some deals around Christmas and get one anyway lol.

Wait I think this one has stainless steel bands? and 8/8+ not?

Like many things Apple does, this is more of a demonstration of the technology and the real power will lie where the third party developers can take it forward. No doubt they will have an SDK that takes adavantage of these sensors by WWDC 2018, at the latest.

Agreed. RE: Notches. I would doubt content would be formatted so that the Notch would cut into content. Rather the edge of the content would just end near the notch and the notches themselves will likely just go black and fade into the background. They'd have to do it that way right? They just found a creative use for the notches on the home screen (and maybe some apps will use it too) when not watching rectangular content.

That's what I though but apparently the notch cuts into video when displayed full screen. If that's confirmed then holy schnikes Apple's board will need to fire a dozen top level executives before Apple sink into mediocrity.

I think it says even more about Apple's customer base if they think that this a feature that will sell their high-end phone...

They do. They used emoji-capability to sell the overpriced MacBook Pro w/touch strip.

The first Millennial I see doing that while they are supposed to be working will be fired on the spot. It's bad enough they can't stay off their phones during work hours.

The rumors of all the problems with the iPhone 8 turned out to be spot on. It's delayed. It's ugly. It's overpriced. Then it got renamed to "X".

Steve would not have rushed a product. That's bad for business.

If I am brutally honest, whilst a bit of fun, and they did get your general expressions.
Given the many many thousands of data points, I was not really that amazed at the tracking of your mouth onto the cartoon character.

That's one of the problems I noticed. There are some expressions missing that should've been a bit more accurate. Reminds me a bit of the Mass Effect Andromeda controversy on the character expression as seen here:

I felt embarrassed for Craig when he did that.

I called it when I mentioned on MR that he would be the one to do it. He's the only one who could pull it off. Anyone else would be super cringe worthy. Can you imagine Cue doing that? Or Cook? I shudder to think of it.
