Where is the Single/Never married, no kids (thank god) option?? **** YOU APPLE!

Thanks Apple. For Teacher Appreciation Week, you offer the discount to students. How about something for us teachers?!

How about something for seniors, vets, road-pavers, school bus drivers, police and firefighters, every day working stiffs, etc.

Keep buying it forever, and only get to listen to it when you can find a strong enough cellular signal, and never share it with anyone.

I'm listing to Apple Music right now with my iPad in airplane mode.

The "For You" section isn't complicated though, its just rubbish.

"An introduction to..." an artist you already know. A lot of obvious mainstream tracks based on another artist you like... Every suggestion in their is utter garbage, its the most basic algorithmic music discovery.

Spotify on the other hand had its weekly "Discovery" list and manages to pull in 30-40 tracks I'd not heard before in not just styles but timbres that completely resonate with me, it's incredible.

A keep a sub to both open and iTunes Match. I mainly keep Apple Music for its library organisation, its far better than Spotify which just feels like a mass of playlists in a sidebar. Both had tracks the other doesn't but Spotify is faster to navigate and has a better backend for streaming on slow connections plus far superior music discovery and even preset playlis

I agree. When Apple Music was first released the "For You" section, it was pretty good. And their playlist were short but good. But it recently has gone down hill, same old recommendations. Only good thing it does these days is to remind me to listen to an albulm that I haven't listened to in a while. Spotify's Discover Weekly is really good, I can listen to the whole playlist without skipping a track, but unfortunately they are starting to repeat some tracks the past couple of weeks. I listen to Spotify daily but I do keep Apple Music around mostly for the Radio feature, I find it much better variety and less repetitive than Spotify's which IMO is garbage. And I might be in the minority, but I actually like Apple Music's colorful interface so I hope they don't change it too much.

I was thinking the same thing, this is a pretty smart play for Apple.

I think AM might be a good deal for many younger people that do not already have a large collection that they own.

But you don't have to be constantly spending money subscribing to streaming services or buying new CDs and downloads to be a music fan. You can play the music you already own, listen to radio stations, go to gigs, go to clubs or watch music on TV.

Some months I can spend a lot on music, other months nothing at all but I still class myself as a big music fan and I can definitely say that music is one of the most important things in my life.

So it seems spending money is inevitable part of being a music fa
So, if you initially pay more from buying the song, instead of renting, are you saying you value the music more?

I never asked him, but I am pretty sure that my father would not think that AM is a great value to him. But, judging from his music collection, I think most people would say he loves his music, and is a huge fan.

Music is now available in many different ways, but to say someone is not a fan because they choose not to use your chosen way is silly. AM is a great value to you, maybe not to me. That doesn't mean I do not love music.

Long term rent is never a good option.

To me, this seems like a smart move for Apple. I thought the AM sub price of $10 a month forever was high for the average user when there are so many difference cheaper and free options.

For many of us, it would be cheaper to own the music we want than to spend money to rent it.

Also, with all the launch problems with Apple Music, sometimes affecting people that did not even sign up for it, having a cheaper option for students might attract some people that were scared away to even try it.

Maybe its my age, but I really don't get why people think $10 is expensive.

Just because there are other places to get music for less, or even for free, doesn't mean that the music doesn't have a value.

If you typically buy even just 10-12 albums a year, which isn't many, then $10 a month is a no brainer bargain to be able to listen to all the albums you would have bought, plus a lot that you maybe wouldn't have, but are able to included in the $10.

Obviously if you hardly ever listen to, or buy, any new music, then something like Apple Music probably isn't for you - but just because it isn't, doesn't objectively make it expensive or poor value for money.

"share it with whomever you want"... Not really. You can't broadcast it without a license, nor play it in a public place without a license. You could lend it to someone (and then you can't listen to it anymore) but that doesn't exactly sound like a great version of sharing compared to today.[doublepost=1462534558][/doublepost]

Yes, really. If I want to have a friend hear an album, I'm giving him a disc, cd or usb to play whenever he gets time. He'll see the artwork, hear it over his stereo and decide whether he likes it. I'm not going to say "lets sit still here for an hour wordless together staring at a phone listening to a 4mm speaker sputter away while it struggles to maintain a connection and runs out of battery". Or, better yet "you have to hear this album I found. We can listen to it in the car, but we have to stay in the city, driving around in traffic for an hour, tethered to the cell tower, or the music will end."

If you can purchase nearly all the music want for under $10 a month, you're not a big music fan. It used to cost me $20 PER RECORD for ONE SINGLE TRACK when I purchase vinyl as a DJ. $10 for unlimited streaming is just insane value and only someone that doesn't value music or isn't really that bothered about it would think otherwise - thats where the conclusion comes from.
Ok. Sometimes there is only ONE track I want but I need to buy the entire album.
Now we have iTunes Store. You can just buy THAT track, problem solved.
And as others says, listening music is an activity Everyone can do using their own ways, either purchasing, renting, or just listening to broadcast.
BTW, I am a big fan of music. Even my iPhone was stolen, I would use an iPod to continue listening to my music collection. I spend over 2 hrs per day on music. But, I am not a lover of renting music, because I know I cannot control when publisher pulls the plug and remove the music you like.
Congratulations. You have the best option to you. And I have the best option for me. This is our colourful life, right? :)

I won't pay a monthly separate fee to listen to my music. Never will. Not from Apple or any other service.
Doesn't make sense to me to spend all that money just to listen to the music I love. In the past, I spent my precious money on records I love (vinil and cd) and listen to them anytime, every time I want without spending any more money. I also spend money to go to concerts from those bands.

I don't believe in this method. But, I'm not everyone.

One of the possible solutions is to offer this service in a package along with internet service, Television, etc. And the artists fees are already included.

Honestly, Apple should offer a $5 version for all -- perhaps limit the # of hours per month. That would be in-line with the deals XM radio offers (albeit with some "work") but that includes NFL and MLB games too.

But if not that Apple really needs to find a way to better differentiate itself. As it is now I'm 100% fine with the free version of Spotify and Pandora b/c I use streaming radio that little -- maybe 30 hrs/month on an ambitious month.

Why only to these Countries? Students afaik are international, so where there is Apple Music being offered all the students should be able to get the discount!

Buy your music once and listen to it whenever, wherever, share it with whomever you want.

Vs

Keep buying it forever, and only get to listen to it when you can find a strong enough cellular signal, and never share it with anyone.

You do realize you can download songs directly to your phone when you find them on Apple Music, right?
