What's interesting is I often hear people talk about choice but how often does that really play out? Microsoft dominates the desktop operating system, Apple and Samsung dominate the mobile phone space. It would be nice to see a third player come in and challenge that space. I can't stand Samsung and it seems everything they do is geared towards impressing the tech press.

There is choice in terms of hardware but very little in terms of the OS. I'd like to see a proper three horse race mobile. MS, Apple and Google could each enjoy a nice chunk of the market and provide us with real alternatives.

I really don't understand how people say these ads are pretentious.

They actually remind me of their older ads and seem to be back on course. Just glad they ended the genius ads they ran during the Olympics.
I think all of us can agree that these are better than the Genius ads. Well, most of us, anyway (I'm beginning to think there isn't ANYTHING that we could all agree on).

Having watched these back again, I like them more than the first time round. There's a nice simplicity to them. They each focus on one aspect alone and really push that specific bit - they don't try to list every feature or make outlandish claims about how this device will make your life complete. They just show you the product and explain why it is the way it is. It's nice and far, far from pretentious. Pretentious would be making a big speech about the philosophy behind the iPhone with reference to world changing ideas. This is simple, homely and down to Earth.

Wait, do all of your friends keep the default ringtone? My iPhone makes the communicator sound.

None of the iOS 6 features are innovative. They're just better. That's what consumers (including me) care about. Also, nobody cares about the processor. "Too bad" indeed.

Most of them yes, I changed my ringtone do the DONG sound, but now a couple of friends have followed suit. Put a custom ringtone though with Gold-Digger

If consumers keep paying for a little better, watch out for the microsoftish complacency that is gonna hit the iphone for a while.

I will be switching back to the iphone 7 when Apple gets to its senses

Don't particularly care for these ads and that's saying something. I think Apple have lost their way. At least the Genius ads were mildly entertaining.

These weren't Apple's best ads but they were very, very, very good ads. They were slightly amusing without being slapstick and the imagery was simple yet elegant.

But some people just have to complain about something...

----------

these ads are lame. not as bad as those genius ads but they are bland and boring.

Apple doesn't need to beat people over the head about the iPhone. It's such a ubiquitous device that it almost doesn't even need any advertising to be successful. These ads are just subtle nods at the product for the sake of those stuck on an old paradigm.

Missed Opportunity.......

They should have done a call back to the old Galaxy Tab (I think) ad:

"Your wife will really appreciate the new A6 chip based on a custom ARM configuration with three graphics cores."

Then - maybe they would sell some phones this weekend.

Kidding (of course). For the most part I've always loved Apple's ads - simple, classy and they really make you want what they show. The new ones are all great. I don't know what they pay their advertising folks, but they earn every penny of it.

More iphones get sold outside the USA, and what has got popularity todo with it? Or do problems magicly disapear when a product id popular ?

.

What?
If it is defective WHY would people buy it?

Believe what you want , to me apple or samsung or most mayor companies barely bring anything risky out, again they dont have to. But you can believe the antenna design made it incredibly riscfull to apple .

Believe wHAT i want?

Now you are inside my head?
We are discussing Apple decisions in a site where people comments about their love of Apple.

 to whole question was 'does apple admit mistakes?' and now thats irrelevant ?

Ah and mistakes are allowed when taking risks , well then you admit it was a fault and apple never admitted as such, case closed .

Did i admit it was a fault?
NO, i wrote whether it was a fault or not, what is the point?
I respect courage that is needed to innovate.

I suppose English is not yr mother language as it is not mine. Only i bother to understand what i read.

Nope, YOU think what YOU bought is better then what others are buying, YOU think they should follow you. Because YOU think apple is best for everyone.

To me people should buy whatever they like and need be it apple samsung or whatever , see the difference?

You're attitude rubs people the wrong way because you think the product you now like is 'superior' ignoring of course that 'better' is subjective .

Just tell me when did i do such thing in this site.
I wrote plenty of times here, i do not have a phone ( since 2004 ), my wife is the one that have one.

Again, WHY i love Apple - mostly because of their biz model - Apple depends on its shoulders, Apple competes with the world.

You are full of prejudices and you project it on anyone who shouts - I love Apple.

I suggest you take youre own adice and let other people make up their own minds .

I am not here to oppose people who happens to just express their love for what Apple does, which is what you are doing. You are discussing with an imaginary friend/enemy, because nothing you just throw at me correspond my believes.

Samsung still burned Apple with this one:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf5-Prx19ZM

Samsung's ad is childish.

----------

I like these very much.

They nicely emphasize the hard engineering work behind the iPhone 5. Except the panorama ad, I don't understand how they can advertise such a trivial feature.

They are launching the era of widescreen photography. :p

----------

The iPhone 5...Crappy earphones, now in a different shape....

Are they crappy, or are you just being a spoiled brat?

the nonsenses is loving a tech company ... A phone is just a "thing" u use and replace when it breaks or u get sick of it. I could care less what apple "thinks" as long as their device fits my needs ^^

and i still think that those ads seem to be targeted at kindergarden children or old people and housewives

"Antennagate" is a real thing, not just in the US. Just tried it on my old iPhone 4 but its nothin to make a fuzz about cuz i never hold my phone that way and it doesnt drop to zero anyway

- sent from my 5th iPhone

Loving a sport team is just great?

Apple is more than a tech company to me. Why i love Apple has nothing to do with what they sell mostly, but because of their biz strategy/model.

Free will. Accept people desire and you will be free!

Who is being a child here?
Or is it just envy?
Why bother or even feel threatened with anyone happiness?

Why are people so obsessed with a bigger screen? If Apple came out with an "iPhone Nano" with a SMALLER screen, I would buy it today, unsubsidized.

I just get tired of have such a big gizmo in my pocket all the time.

Samsung is petty and jealous.

They're making fun of customers they want to convert, there's some great marketing. And they're touting the worst possible use of their NFC technology.

Apparently someone lined up. And no, Samsung is not expecting to convert people that line up for Apple products. They are trying to distinguish themselves from people who do, while still being friendly (i.e. its the dutiful son that owns a GS3).

I never watched a Samsung anti-ad until now, and i'm glad i didn't watch them. This is just pathetic.

If they wanted to bash them, they should do it like with those mac vs pc. That was funny. This isn't.

So your proposed solution is that Samsung should copy Apple? :)

The Samsung ad is good. The new Apple ones are clean but they are also derivative, emotionless and boring.

It is refreshing to see this type of ad having been posted, as opposed to Apple responding to Samsung's ads by resorting to making fun of galaxy S3 customers.

Lol at the thumb video, who the hell holds his phone in that grip? And also, you see that he can't reach the upper right corner, which if fine, but like most people when you're right handed, you can't reach the upper left corner, which is a problem, because a lot of back buttons in iOS are there. Android & WP8 solve this by adding a dedicated back button on the bottom. How do ya' explain them apples?

That was also my first thought when seeing the ad:

How clever to show a left hand, so the thumb could easily hit the Back button without stretching.

However, the overwhelming majority of people are right handed.

Say that outside of an Apple advert- be destroyed.
Say that on an Apple advert- be adored.

Leaves out all the people, probably the majority, who hold the phone in their right hand instead.

Wow!
Your thumbs are asymmetric?

People are actually arguing because of an ad that just states - This is WHY we make the phone this way?
A reason that is clearly obvious now.

By who?
Again generalizing!
Your post paints you the same color as those who want to criticize.

OH, you never saw a cubist painting portrait or never heard of Quantum Mechanics.
:confused:: Boring!

Clearly it doesn't matter what Apple does, there will be those that cheer and those that say its boring! What's new?

Bottom line is as a consumer and stock holder I couldn't be happier! Nuff Said!
