I'm not sure if you understand the ads or my comment fully, then. They act like one dimension of the iPhone getting bigger and the other getting smaller is magic and defies the laws of physics.

High School was where i studied physics - more than a decade ago!
Some if not all of the formulas in that black board are from the classic physics and are regarded to mass.

I think the ad implies not circumventing ( as you implies ) the laws but accepting that they are incomplete ( hence to think outSIDE the box ).

Actually Magic makes use of physics works NOT against it.

How does the light and panorama and ear bud play up to the rivalry? Even in the thumb one they try to explain why it's taller, not wider... Too much explanation in the ads, that's the only difference..

I should have been more specific. Of course I was just referring to the thumb ad in terms of the rivalry thing. The lack of emotion was about them all. My bad I should have thought that post out more.

I'm not intentionally trying to be negative. Think of some of the recent ads for the retina MacBook Pro, the iPad ads etc. They are amazing. These just lack the same spark.

Not as classy as Apple ads used to be.
With somewhat of a condescending tone.

Disappointing compared to previous ads.

Very different target consumer than 10 years ago. I think we will see more mature adds also. Apple seems IMO, to be trying to figure out a 2 tiered advertising methodology.

The Genius was clearly over the top. These are better. Then you will have ones like John Malkovich, and Samuel L. Jackson. :apple:

what awful adverts. Especially the stupid earphones one, Apple are going on like they were the first to realise that earphones need to be shaped to fit into ears. Those earphones are awful anyway, i will use my sennheisers/bose thank you

My ear isn't shaped like that. The new headphones just pop out of my ears.

These were not great.

The tone of the read is wrong in some places and each spot has dead space and pacing issues.

"Cheeeeeeessseeeeeeeeeee" is not pleasant sounding and is going to annoy the hell out of people if in high rotation.

Better than the genius spots, which isn't saying much.

So the laws are incomplete because Apple made the screen bigger while making the phone slimmer? Right.

I have a question for some of you in this thread which is, why do you come here and post positive comments in every single thread? Is it a hobby for you? Does it make yourself feel better about your lot in life or your purchase decisions?
Uh, sorry but this is "macrumours" and the majority of stories are "Apple" focused so, if you don't like that fact nobody is holding a gun to your head to be here.

I was trying to be diplomatic by saying "negative" comments. What I really mean was deliberate trolling and flamebaiting. There are several individuals who come here to deliberately stir people up. I find it to be quite sad. You would only need to look at their posting history in this thread alone to see what I'm talking about.

If I did not have an iPhone of any sort or have any intention of buying one in the future, I would not see the point of coming here and extolling the virtues other platforms.

It is interesting that you chose to not quote the part where I exhorted others to be content with what they had. You also neglected to quote the part where I stated that iPhone users like me do not go to sites like crackberry or Android central to bait, insult others or evangelize the iOS platform.

You seem to have completely missed the point I was making and ignored my suggestion to take up another hobby. If you like android, good for you but don't tell me about it.

I didn't know this site was called "iOSRumors". I guess this only shows the arrogance of some Apple "fans" who find it personally insulting that there are people who actually like Macs and/or iPods (therefore have a reason to visit this site), but prefer Android as their mobile OS.

So people like the Samsung ad, think its clever and funny or whatever but hate the new Apple ads. This place has gone to the dogs and is either full of trolls or Steve Jobs fanboys that will criticize anything Apple has done since he's no longer here. Come here any day of the week, any hour of the day and someone is b*tching about something.

Got the point mate... Apologies if I sounded aggressive :)
I kind of liked the ads, they are more playful but lacks the class and as you pointed out, the spark :)

Samsungs ad just made sure I won't even buy a tv from them anymore ..childish..I know but when the company itself is childish, I guess I can be childish too:p

Amen buddy, I always laugh at the people who have to say all they can negative about anything Apple and what's funny about that is, I've never been to a Android Rumor type sight to try & belittle people for enjoying their Google Android stuff. Even though Android is Fragmented mess on most phones running it. Anyway I enjoy the Apple rumor sights, Macrumors is my favorite, i also enjoy iLounge & TUAW. I'm just a die hard Apple FanBoy!
I do also learn quite a bit from people on these sights
.:cool::apple::apple::apple:

I love my new iPhone 5 as well as my 4S and all of them going back to the first iPhone, there's not a better phone out there or tablet!!!:apple::apple:

What are u like 12 years old??? Actually samsung burned and shot themselves in the foot for potential customers. They are making more fun of the people than apple.

I agree those commercials are like making an Add Poking Fun at Trekkies and then that ad being for the new Star Trek Film.

----------

You really think Samsung burned Apple?

Samsung would kill to have people lining up for their phones.
The SIII may be a great phone, but these sort of advertisements just preach to the choir and scream inferiority complex. Samsung is petty and jealous.

They're making fun of customers they want to convert, there's some great marketing. And they're touting the worst possible use of their NFC technology.

Attack ads are always an admission that you are in second place.

Amen, Well Said

Your prejudice is blinding you.

No.
Those are classic physics - most of them are now rendered obsolete by QM and other new theories.

You never studied physics, certainly.

The iPhone 5...Because map accuracy is just not your thing...

It took google 7 years to get where they're at, and it was by having a product out there being used and refined over that period of time. It was probably worse than this for the first few years even, but those days, people didn't expect it to be perfect. They were just happy to have anything.

It's a wonder people were ever able to find an address or a cheeseburger hut before 2005.

The thump on is stupid. From my calculations:
iPhone screen is 1.96" wide
SG SIII screen is 2.34" wide

That is 20% wider. I think that the average variation of human hand size is more than 20%.
I agree that the SIII screen is "too big" for some people's hands, but for others it is a great size. If you want an Android phone with a 3.5" or 4" screen they are available, this is called choice, or as some Apple fans call it, fragmentation. The most popular Android phone currently competing with the iPhone is the 4.7" SIII. This ad looks like Apple trying to justify their smaller screen while many consumer are votes with their money and buying 4.5"+ phones.

Apple choose to make only one screen size for the iPhone, they have to accept that this means that the iPhone will be too small, or too big, for some consumers.

Yes. Any other questions?

Problem with the ads:

1. Panorama available on my Iphone 4

2. Ear buds can be purchased seperately, I dunno how this even made it into a commercial for the iphone 5.

3. Physics is just stupid. How can a phone get taller, but thinner? Really? That's the best you can do.

4. Subjective to every person's hand size.

Really none of those ads would make any educated consumer want to buy an iphone 5.
