You can say what you want the iPhone 3G/S just feels better in your hand because of the teardrop design, I really hoped to see it back with the iPhone 5, I just can't live with this clunky design of the iPhone 4. I think I can live a bit longer with my 3G and will wait for the real deal!

How do they think people will commit to this. Redesigned antenna for faster 3g? How about just 4g... Nexus prime is coming out soon with 720p Display 4.6" screen and 1.5ghz DC Processor. Slap on an A5 and call it a day (or rather 1.5years). I'm not touching that thing.

I think the main reason is it's going to be already going to be beaten in specs by android phones starting as early as next month with the nexus prime.

But the OS part is subjective and is also the main reason why most people here own macs that are outspec'd by windows PC's, because the OS makes the final difference.

Exactly. Regular people don't care about specs. Nor should they. If they like the way the phone works, then they like the phone.

I don't look up the resistance values in the heating elements of my toaster, so why do I need to worry about specs on my phone?

They took the best selling phone in the world, and made it much faster, a much better camera, and tons of new featues. Yeah, what a bunch of idiots.

I agree with the design comment, but deep argue that those of us who use our phones as their main Internet device need a bit larger screen-this was the fail and will sadly keep ape

Its the fact that the best running phone in the world that's running the best software in the world has a screen size that is of no use to anyone who actually users their smartphone as a smartphone.... No, people are irritated that they don't have a good reason to upgrade. While some of the changes are nice, most people aren't compelled to change like in revisions past. It is still a very good phone, but shelling out for a contract adjustment, early upgrade, etc., for many, isn't really financially justified. People like the uniqueness of 'new'. Telling someone that you have a 4S just doesn't seem to fit that bill.

For years AT&T has been refusing to unlock all iPhones on the grounds that they were an exclusive carrier. While of course this was preposterous (seeing that the iPhone is available on 200+ carriers, including the two largest carriers in the US), they were technically correct because they were the exclusive carrier of the GSM iPhone in the United States. I wonder if the iPhone 4S's "world" compatibility will force them to acknowledge that they aren't an exclusive carrier now, and begin unlocking iPhones after the two-year contract is fulfilled.

There's no way I'm buying a phone unless I know it's actually mine after two years.

I for one need a smartphone that doesn't feel like huge device in my hand. I like this form factor. May you need the star tech design. You can still find them in Google. Better yet ask Google to make you a nice Star Droid. I work in IT. I DO ALL MY IT Related work on the iPhone. I was doing it with a 3G & the four since release.

I have been able to all kinds of Network Administrating stuff. If you need a bigger form factor then get an iPad. I for one need a phone to retain a smartphone form factor not a phonetablet form factor. Get a Droid then. I am happy with my iPhone 4.

My thoughts

Well sold my i4 two weeks ago, in prep for 5. As we all now know we got a 4s.

Watching the news come in, I immediately started looking at alternative phones here in the uk. Have only used iPhone since the original, and am kind of looking at other things.

Then it hit me, no phone is going to serve me aswell as a 4s. Why?

iCloud.

Been using the ios5 beta for around 6 weeks on my iPad 2, and things like photostream, iWork etc just won't be available if I go HTC or Samsung

So 4s it is....

Don't get the outcry about the shell. The iPhone 4 still looks great, why change it? Macbooks don't change form factor every year. iMacs don't.

The 4s is great update. Really fast, but longer battery life (imagine if it had a bigger screen). Airplay video mirroring is killer for video and games! The camera upgrade is impressive, and features like stabilized video. Can't wait to see samples. Siri is also interesting, also for people with disabilities. People want bigger screen? Not everybody.

Expectations of people is crazy. Changing form factor does not equal better (sales). 4s will sell really well, because it will do things well. It is a killer feature phone.

I'll be upgrading from OG Droid. I really liked the design of the iPhone 4, so the same case is no problem for me. Internal and camera upgrades i wanted. I would have liked a bigger screen but not a deal breaker. Honestly though, if this phone was in a different case, there would be a lot less whining. The design is beautiful. If it's not broken, don't fix it.
