No wireless. No ergonomic design. Sticking with my Logitech MX Laser. Apple needs to pony up and offer a seperate mouse and keyboard for the Powermac line, and leave the cutsie stuff for the iMacs and Minis.

hahaha wireless is pro?

See, folks?! I called this over a month ago! And everyone poo-poo'ed me! See who's talking now?! HELL FROZE OVER!!!

My amazing discovery and prediction.

I think that you certainly deserve credit. Kudos on your prediction. Hope respect will be given its due. What further predictions are your willing to offer?

No, hell froze over when Apple announced the switch to Intel processors. This is just a two button mouse... no big deal in comparison to that. :)

We knew the day Intel would come. The mouse is like the second coming of Jesus to Mac users. Hard to believe.

Can't wait for an eject button on my CD drive! Now that's innovative!

hmm, as for Bluetooth. I wondered why this thing is USB. Well?... cos its a mouse... it's got to have a tail. :p :D This makes it kinda cute. but seriously, I wonder how long the battery would last if this was Bluetooth?

I need to go back and search though all the flame wars that erupted over the 1 vs. 2 button mouse, find the posts of people who said they would NEVER use a two button, and compare it to people posting on this thread. I think the number of hypocrites would be surprisingly high. Or maybe not so surprising.

TOO awesome to wake up to. We never saw this coming! Just goes to show you that somethings don't slip through the rumor mill too easily...

Well that only took an eternity. I think I first was wondering about a 2-button mouse from apple in 1992. I actually had some doubt when I first read this that it was real.

I used a third party mouse like this once with those two extra buttons on the sides and I hated it. They push accidentally all the time and do things you don't want. I use a Wacom 6x8 with a three button mouse and it's the best.

no bluetooth?

I would prob buy it if it was bluetooth. I have an apple bluetooth one..kinda miss a scrollwheel..........................

Who needs:

Powerbook G5
Powermac Dual 3Ghz
Year of HD
64mb cards in ibooks & minis
better range of standalone computers (for switchers who need more than a mini & less than a powermac - NEWS FLASH Windows users already have monitors so don't need imacs)
& so on.....
etc...........

What we need is a f**king mouse with a stupid name. Go Apple!!

yes folks, it's true - apple only has one development team. we know that they can't possibly work on a powermac and design a mouse at the same time...

I'm glad they've done this, though I love one button mice, they did this in a classy way that keeps the one button around, but for most people who feel comfy with two buttons, it's there. I like the idea of a squeeze for expose... right now it's a scroll wheel click for me, and it screws me up every time I use a windows machine...

I'll add this list to my other 3 favorites.

- The "iPod is so expensive it will never sell. It'll be a flop." list.
- The "No way they can fit a 17/23 inches monitor on that iMac" list.
- The "Apple will never ever go intel" list.

I'm still waiting for one more this to come true before publishing my:

- The "Captain Crunch will never be promoted to Admiral" list.

From the Mighty Mouse section on Apple's website:

Who has time for intuitive, elegant design when there is so much clicking to do?

Did Apple hire some Brits to do their marketing? :p I love tongue-in-cheek humor in product advertisement, its so refreshing. Better than inflated specs and vacuous promises.

How dare Apple introduce ONE new product instead of all POSSIBLE new products simultaneously! ;)

Powerbook G5 - Thank IBM. Intel transition is coming.

Powermac Dual 3Ghz - Thank IBM. Intel transition is coming.

Year of HD - What specifically do you want to do with HD that you can't?

64mb cards in ibooks & minis - Low end PCs have even less VRAM then low
end Macs. Low end Macs support Core Image without needing 64 VRAM (yes, it's true).

better range of standalone computers (for switchers who need more than a mini & less than a powermac - Agreed--a mid-range headless would be nice. And one lower-end display choice to go with it. But it seems that the imac G5 is the best-selling Mac, so maybe the market for what you say isn't big enough yet. It will get there I think--when Intel chips make for smaller Mac towers.

So is the second button like one of those nipples the Thinkpads used to have? I'm a little confused. But like it all the same.

That's the little-tiny, itty-bitty scrolling ball. The "buttons" aren't visable. ThinkPads still have nipples.

I hope that you will be willing to give "Mighty Mouse" a trial. After all this mouse has been designed by Apple, which means greater quality.

Haha - my thoughts exactly. There were so many people with the "Apple can do no wrong" mentality that said they would never use a 2-button mouse, that it never would make sense for Apple to release a 2-button mouse, and that Apple's 1-button mouse was adequate. How many of them have "magically" changed their tune now? ;)

One question I have for people - I am seeing a lot of complaining that this isn't a wireless/BT mouse. Now fair enough, wireless and BT are the way things are done nowadays, and it's only reasonable to expect a "new" mouse to have these features, but what do you really need a wireless mouse for? My mouse is always right next to my keyboard which is right next to my computer on my desk. The benefits gained from having something wireless (i.e. the portability) is a non-factor for me when it comes to a mouse. And one less wire? Does that really make a big difference? I am just curious how many people need wireless mouses, since they seem to be making such a big deal out of it. Just an honest question, that's all....
