Try clicking, holding and lifting your mouse all at the same time without touching those "buttons". You don't have to do this often but I happens.

If you have to drag something a long distance, then it happens frequently.

Well, personally speaking I'm liking it alot!!

Yep, it's a shame it's not BT but maybe soon, and at least it's a step in the right direction. And "yes" there are alternatives but 35 dabs ain't that bad for an Apple branded product [31 with student discount], especially one that has been sort after for so long.

Although I've not read all 22 pages of responses but just to confirm to all the plums that can't read NO IT ISN'T BLUETOOTH!!!! Sheesh...

Hey, it's yet another element to the ever growing list of Apple revelations...

1. Confirmation that X lead a double life on x86
2. The release of the much needed headless Mac [re. mini]
3. Move to Intel
4. And finally a "multi-function mouse"
5. {To be filled soon...}
6. Something I've no doubt missed...

TTFN ;)

What I want to know is whether they have sorted out the ridiculous weakness of the mouse cable where it comes out of the casing. I'm on my fourth Pro Mouse so far.

No one rembers who posted what, they just remember what was said. You should work on your jokes.

Who yanked your chain?

The poster had a pop at me for not reading previous posts yet had they done so themselves they would have realised that I was being ironic.

Sheesh, get a sense of humour yourself mate!

This is totally weak.

yay, we're all excited that constantly behind the times apple has come up with a two button mouse!

yay, they are finally caught up with every other accessory company in the world!

Oh, wait, that's right. Its tethered to the computer, lacking wireless function.

Okay, now I get it. Apple is still way behind the times, that or they are just trying to screw consumers out of money before releasing the bluetooth verison they have sitting on a shelf somewhere in cupertino.

Either way, as usual, it sucks to be an apple customer.

Now I'll go back to word prcoessing on my top of the line 17inch powerbook that was made obsolete by the first next generation of ibooks that came out 6 months ago

True but I would never go back to the world of gunk. But I must admit, I somehow enjoyed scraping the thing off the rolers inside the mouse. Freaky me.

Yeah, it was an art. Like cleaning the head and rollers in a cassette deck. Good times.

Maybe you should just go get a Dell?

i'm amazed at the number of people on this thread who think that there is a sizeable population of people out there who can't figure out left-click, right-click. The only people I've EVER met who didn't understand the concept were old-school Mac people who were like..."Right click?" A 4-year-old child knows what right-click means.

how is an interface that requires you to use the keyboard more "streamlined and simple" than one that allows you to rely 80+% on the mouse alone?

Have you guys ever played a friggin Nintendo? OOOOOH NO!!!! Two buttons! My brain can't figure out which one makes mario jump and which one makes mario go faster!!!!!!! It's basic hand-eye coordination, and if you can tell the difference between the CMD button and the Option button on a keyboard with more than 100 keys on it, then you should be able to tell the difference between button #1 and button #2. It's not "simpler" to press down Ctrl and then hit the mouse button. That's two actions. It's stupider. LESS intuitive, and more difficult to understand. I know and use probably 200 keyboard shortcuts on a daily basis. But I use the right mouse button at least as often, because my mind can figure out the difference between my middle finger and my index finger. Friggin' unbelievable, I know.

My question about Mighty Mouse is this: What if I only want to scroll vertically? A lot of documents are wider than my screen (1600 pixels, as it happens), and when I scroll, I only want to scroll one way...vertically. Can you disable the horizontal scrolling, or make it necessary to hold down a key to alternate to horizontal scroll (which is what a normal scroll mouse does in most programs when you hold down Option? If not, this is like a really expensive headache, as far as I can tell.

As far as I can tell, every mac product has this problem.

Both versions of the earphones do, thats for sure. Not to mention the actual metal fitting fell off one of my earbuds the other day. Had to superglue a 40 dollar pair of earphones that i bought 5 months ago, never use, and more specifically, when I do, I only use one, the one that DIDN'T fall off.

Apple, as always, you rule.

Holy Mighty Mouse! I nearly sprayed my cereal all over my Display when I saw this news about a new 2-button Apple mouse. Instead, just a bit of milk came out of my nose.

Now, does the mouse have Bluetooth??? JUST KIDDING!

Hip-Hip-Hooray for the new mouse, but, I have an Apple wireless mouse and will be waiting for the new mouse to also be wireless before I part with my money.

I like macs alot (or maybe i should say i like the OS), I just think its lame that a 2700 dollar computer is only validated by a bigger screen 6 months after its bought.

And thats in comparison to an ibook, no less.

And anyone who disagress that the mighty mouse is lame due to its wire, is just a shameless patron of the company.

There's no excuse. Many companies don't even make "wired" mouses anymore.

"But what about all those computers that don't have bluetooth?"

Thats why companies incorporate their own wireless technologies into their mouses designs, allowing a comp that isn't wireless capable, to become that. So you don't have to worry about it. It works either way.

But not Apple. The last time they cared about the consumer was in 84, and maybe that was just in the commercial.

Someone definately needs a group hug!

Is there anything more exciting than new Apple products? I don't mean run of the mill updates, but completely new stuff.

I'm so happy I might actually be nice to people today. Well probably not.

Mighty Mouse

What was wrong with the old mouse? I mean, really? Why would I use the mouse to launch apps even? Doesn't the almighty "Dock" offer enough shortcuts?

To me, Mighty Mouse offers complexity.

Oh no!

What'll I do?

Try learning to cope with those who disagree with you.

Instead of retorting with insults, try supporting your own side of the argument.
