Well I'm a woman with smaller wrists. I didn't want 42 and certainly wouldn't want anything even largerthan that. I'm glad Apple is one of the few actually catering to women (or men) with small wrists.

This is the news of the thread for me. After all this time I did not realize you were a woman......

And yes the 38 needs to stay, though a 44 would be nice for people used to big watches.

Talking about wrist size. Those who are 6 foot to 6ft2 average 7-9 inch wrist circumference. So I don't think it's unbelievable that someone who is 6ft8 has a wrist size between 11 and 12 inches. Especially given that the average shoe size at 6ft1 is 12, yet at 6ft8, Lebraun wears a size 16 or 17 per his fan page. Proportionately it makes complete sense.

Yes, while we get all hyped up about new Apple Watches and iPhones, there really are people getting all chatty about wrist sizes in their own forum, haha

That link doesn't seem to support your assertion. Heck, there's a guy on there with these measurements:

8 inches, 6'4", 330lbs

You're suggesting LeBron's wrists are 4" bigger? I've got a Hydro Flask sitting here on my desk, it's ~300mm (32oz), it would be HUGE for his wrist compared to his forearms or biceps.

99.999% of the people with this kind of wrist circumference are obese.
 99% of those who get this kit are NOT going to need all six links. If the majority need only an extra link or two, then suddenly more athletes and just big boned men are part of the equation. Yes, they'll be on the rare side; wrists larger than the XL wristband size aren't that common (even for obese men). But a man's wrist need not be "freakishly" large to require an extra link or two.

My point is, your 99% is only valid if you assume that anyone who buys this kit is going to use more than a couple of links. As they're probably not going to need that many links, your percentage, I think, is way overblown. 99% of those who get this kit WILL be rarities in bone size, but they won't be 99% obese.

The standard average male watch these days is about 42mm, so no they're not making a 46mm for quite some time if ever, that would also explode the number of models available even more. Considering the massive amount of them they have now and the complexity of a launch which is still not world wide, that wouldn't be a good idea.

Two hours ago you'd have said the same thing about them offering larger bands and extra links. You have zero basis to make such a claim. I never said it was likely... I just stated that I'd prefer a larger one and so would others. I have no idea if there are many others, but it's something that I hope they consider.

So much hassle for a flop product.

I used to work in a company where one of the partners used to say "everything is excellent" even I was giving him warnings. His answer for everything was "everything goes wonderful". I told him the company would go bankrupt by December even we were in April, he was looking at my boobs.
By December he left without saying goodbye to anybody. He was kicked as a partner and the company lost some $300K. He even left the city. Things are not wonderful for him anymore, he was the administrator with "thousands of management degrees". A sad 50+ years old show off. He always was hitting on me with his smile and his BMW. So men believe that with age they are mature.

I had a friend who was just the opposite (more like our "Flop" guy there). Everything was always dismal. If you said it was a nice day, he'd say it was too hot. If it was a cool day it was too cold. If things were going well, they were going wrong somewhere in the world and he was going to tell you where and how.

Funny thing, but he didn't have many friends and those he did have...well, one by one they stopped wanting to be around him. What I think was most apt here, however, was the fact that he liked to make grand predictions (negative ones always), and he was always wrong. If you said, "isn't that great—" he say, "it's gonna flop..." but he was never right. When you pointed out to him that he'd made a wrong prediction, he'd just say, "Yeah, well, but this is still in trouble..." and find someway to, yet again, bring things down. And no, he didn't mature/gain wisdom with age either. Just got worse.

It's odd, isn't it? We take perpetual optimists to task for not being realistic, but we should remember that the perpetual pessimists are usually being equally unrealistic. We seem to think that doom predictions are more real, but on closer examination, the pessimist is usually as wrong as the optimist.

Fascinating story, but I've read it several times and I still can't see the relevance to Apple watch band sizings.

Not trying to be rude, but is this the forum equivalent of butt-dialling, perhaps? First I've seen of it :)

Which is why I think they should have made a 46mm watch as well. Most everyone I know, including women, chose the 42, and many wanted something larger.
I know folks who got the 38mm. I am not a fan of the current fad for dinner-plate sized watches, and waited the first appointment slot back in April to try both sizes to decide which worked for me (got the 42mm because it worked and I wanted the extra screen size). Keep in mind that the design team at Apple has a lot of folks on it who like high-end watches. They didn't design this in a vacuum. Given some pretty savvy designers, and a pretty much unlimited design budget, they thought these sizes were the best. It's not like they didn't consider other possibilities - I bet there are plenty of larger Apple Watches in the lab, they just decided those didn't work out as well as the current sizes.

It's _not_ you, but I see lots of folks who try to use the logic, "how come Apple didn't think of idea X which occurred to me quite easily (thus clearly I'm smarter)" when, in all likelihood, the designers did consider that idea, and rejected it for some reason that hasn't occurred to you. Sort of in the same camp as all the folks who think Tim Cook is an idiot and they are completely certain they could run Apple better than he does. The most profitable company in the history of the world. He seems to be doing a pretty good job ;) . Said folks could probably also outperform any Olympic athlete, you know, if they felt like it. ;)

You realize that someone who is 6ft4 and thin as a rail in perfect shape, yet can't fit into a large Apple Watch, yet someone who is 5ft2 and weighs 240 lbs can fit into a small band because their bones aren't thicker, they're just overweight. Maybe you should stop and think about what you say before you say it.

I'm 6ft 5 my bones are huge and I can fit a normal watch band fine, this apple release is to cater for all the obese Americans who can't fit into an apple watch

I think this happens a lot. People can't seem to grasp there are considerations they can't predict or think of. They'll burn bridges based on the assumption they thought of everything.

Oh, because the product is a flop and Apple keeps investing on it, Apple is acting as if everything is going wonderfully. Eventually they will hit the reality. They will have to release the real numbers. And personally selling that watch band for so much money is just crazy. They are acting as if they have the best product ever and I very sure it is Apple's biggest failure worst to the disaster that was replacing Final Cut Pro for Final Cut X. Just wait a few more months.

The difference is that I AM a project manager, I studied that, not to mention I am really good at telling people. Your friend was doing for something different and he just wanting to call the attention, he was an spiritual vampire. At one point in his life he was with some people and he came up with a sensationalist comment and he got people's attention and started to work for him. That is as bad as smiling all the time, both are ignoring facts and not listening.

This is welcome news indeed.

Those good folks with the chubby wrists need to track their fitness the most, so it is good to see Apple accommodating the most needy.

I look forward to hearing the first success story on these forums of someone who has gone from 500 lb to a svelte 300 lb courtesy of the Apple Watch. Thinner than Thin.

It's bad enough that you take every single opportunity to bash the apple watch. But now you're insulting and belittling those who are obese, and may be wiling to try anything to lose weight. Do you have any idea how difficult it can be for someone who is overweight to lose some of those extra pounds. You sarcasm and downright meanness doesn't help them.

This isn't a forum for rumors. While there are some informative posts, there is a huge number of people who just enjoy bashing and insulting and demeaning just about everything presented on this forum. I'm very close to stopping wasting my time here. It's just too hard to get any real useful information mixed in with the nonsense.

Wait so.. the bracelet catch mechanism must be worth $200+?

I like my pebble because I can use whatever damn bracelet I want with it. Most cost under $10 and if anything are less likely to be unreliable since they are nato bands.

If you click on his username there's an "ignore" link. Really useful imho, esp. for trolls.

If you think about it, it's kind of sad. People bashing do that for some reason: maybe to justify their purchase, or lack of purchase.. or just to feel better, or hide some pain.

Yay, now I can finally follow through on my plan to become morbidly obese without giving up my Apple Watch Sport!!

Big wrist have nothing to do with obese I have big wrist and my link bracelet barely fits it's super tight but am not obese such thing as muscle but you probably don't know anything about that as you probably don't have any..

I could be like you and probably say same thing about smaller wrist "Yay, now I can finally follow through on my plan to become anorexic without giving up my Apple Watch"

And someone else post about Apple Store should give out free links and your smartsass comment again about people must be obese cause have big wrist your right Apple Store should just give out a free steak and a slice of triple layer chocolate cake to all those anorexic light wrist people..

Then they only have to offer one XL Bands problem solved.

Agree on the ignore feature. It works much better in this new forum layout than the old one. Even quotes from ignored members are erased.

That said, it can make some of the silly PRSI threads oddly amusing as everyone reacts to the invisible protagonist. Try it. :)
